My whole ogre army was painted with contrasts and reikland wash over white. Easiest army I ever painted. Don’t look amazing individually but group up I am very proud of them
I was in my local GW store last weekend and asked them where the old world range was. They directed me to the 2 rule books they had in the back bottom shelf corner. I asked if they had any models I could buy and was told it was all mail order to store. They have no hope of drumming up support for the game but only us old timers who played fantasy back in the day to keep the range going and to reminisce
That’s too bad, my GW had several boxes of the starter sets and some of the individual miniatures/smaller kits too. Unfortunately that doesn’t help me because I chose to play Empire but it was nice to see. They were in the back of the store next to the register, though, so it wasn’t possible to see them when walking in the store.
My GW store is only good for paints, there is literally nothing else for me in there unless I’m stealing AOS stuff for the Old world, I just order online now or go to other FLG stores here in AUS which do generally have a small range of Old World
Leaving mistakes in a video is helpful. One it shows people how to correct and that it's not the end of the world if you do. Personally I like the blue, I also really love that leather triad it's really nice and rich. I'm 40k focused ATM with the genestealer cults but will be getting round to a fantasy force soon.
The TTC washes are basically like the old gw shades they do dry slightly more matt but that’s only difference for me. So battlemud would have been the one you wanted for this if you were looking for a brown. I use three blacks at this point, oblivion black from TTC when I want old null oil. New null oil from gw when I don’t need to change the colour of the whole area which I do actually appreciate, I think I’d have preferred GW to have added the new null oil as something else and kept both options on sale but as TTC stepped into save the day it dosent really matter. And the finally I use proacryl black wash when I want something to really have it’s contrast pushed as it’s like old null oil on steriods and it will really make the recesses black. Anyways great video Andy, I like it when you leave in the oops moments as it shows people the importance of just keeping going as often you will pull it back to a decent finish.
I am hungry for ogres! I'm still keeping eyeing up that Vanguard box, but it'd mostly be for conversions. I really like the Ogors being an old kit because they're a bit more afforable. Nice cheap way to get some big beefy bodies for all sorts of armies.
Nice work! Love Ogres myself - the Ninja Maneater is my favourite! I like the bright blue, but perhaps some sponge applied brown to dirty them up abit? Like weathering armour
I just started an ogre army. They're awesome. Easy to get, easy to build, easy to paint (Except all the gnoblars. So much work for 2 points a man). Loads of GW and 3D printed options available. I particularly love Avatars of War's characters.
Absolutely love the blue pants! Looks great! I would however use some nuln oil (or similar) for the metalics, Shiny and clean ogres feel wrong in my mind xD
Good paint job. Maybe you could darken down the pants, to make them look more like denim. (Does denim exist in the Old World? Maybe not. But guns and helicopters do, so it's not that far fetched). For those looking for cheaper ways to start an Ogre Kingdoms/Ogor Mawtribes army, Wargames Atlantic has their "Landsknecht Ogres" kit (completed nicely by the "Ogres/Great Orc" metal models from Warmonger Miniatures). Flexible kits, for equipping the models with hand weapons, great weapons, or guns. So that's much of the infantry range settled right there. And 9 models for $35 (with discounts for bulk buys) is better than GW prices. Plus, they're great for running your Ogres as mercenaries operating in the Empire.
@@MediocreHobbies Ain't many Ogre models that need much more than the Bull in the video. But if you have a Firebelly or any of the big beast models on hand would be a sight, otherwise any model would do just keep up the great work!
I think you buried the lede! Since the Orcs and Goblins Arcane Journal came out literally *any* Old World army can include Badlands Ogre Bulls as a mercenary unit. They’re the only unit you can use in any faction - good or bad, the ogres don’t mind. The most flexible unit in Warhammer.
Don’t have any Ogres yet, but now I want some. I am doing some Dark elves now though and these are actually pretty good value compared to the Old World range
cool model, as for the TTC washes they are very very good i think their the best around at the moment, depending on the type of brown you wanted there's Battle Mud Wash sort of on par with Agrax Earthshade but its a bit warmer, Archaic Sepia which is about on par with Seraphim Sepia, or there's flesh wash which is a reddish brown wash kinda its an odd colour but very nice....there are other coloured washes that are similar to the GW shades their just better you can even use them as a "base layer" if you want a subtle effect....i like the blue/turquoise trousers you gave him a unit like that would look amazing i recon.
Your painting style is pretty smooth and simple. I should try to use some of your techniques on my Horus Heresy models to achieve better results on mine. The paint scheme is simple but stands out pretty well. While Citadel, Vallejo, and Duncan Rhodes all offer quality paints, do you have a preference among them over the others? Thanks again for sharing your video with us. It's appreciated. 😊😊😊
You hear of breastplate … but these beefy lads have anti-boob armour by proudly opting for a beer-gut plate, with their flabby chebs on show … 💪 there’s honour in having no shame!
Always more old world stuff
Yes Tim

That’s all you need, for them to look good enough in an army and that you’re happy with them! Hope you’re getting on some games with them now!
@@MediocreHobbies yes sir, hope to see you across the table at a tourney in Ireland

A seraphim sepia would dirty up those blue pants.
Love your Old World Content.
All of your content to be fair!

Problem is with this sort of thing anyone new walking in to the store wanting to get in to war gaming would have no idea the game even exists.
My GW store is only good for paints, there is literally nothing else for me in there unless I’m stealing AOS stuff for the Old world, I just order online now or go to other FLG stores here in AUS which do generally have a small range of Old World

Cheers for that pal.
I like the pants, if anything you could throw some white vertical stripes on it. Give him a hint of pirate.
Haha not a bad idea there!
I like his blue pantaloons. If you aren't dead set on it then maybe have a few with striped or halved or quartered white and blue?
Perhaps yes. We shall see.

Thanks for that pal. Nice comment.
I like the turquoise pants it looks good. Maybe the Ogre ripped down some nice fabric from a caravan and made himself some fancy attire.
Hahaha yes I love that
Looks awesome. Totally know what you mean about always reaching for red. I have to make myself use other colors lol
Yeah it's a real problem, I think I need to hide my red paints for a while!
I am hungry for ogres!

Agree on all points.
They really need to refresh the ogre range if they are gonna keep them in AoS.
They might do, I don't know if they're a priority right now so I wouldn't be holding my breath, but it'd be very cool if they did
Old but gold world ❤️
Great paint job, great model. Love seeing old GW paint schemes for ogre factions in fantasy
Gold world is so right 🙌
Yeah I had a lot of fun painting him, definitely more videos coming for Orges!
Cracking job Andy! You are a nightmare, now I want to paint up some of these! lol…. It’s the last destruction faction I don’t have.
I’m sorry lol
Nice work! Love Ogres myself - the Ninja Maneater is my favourite! I like the bright blue, but perhaps some sponge applied brown to dirty them up abit? Like weathering armour
Not sure about putting brown in certain places on his pants but I know what you mean :D
Loved this video. I now want to collect some Ogres.
Haha love hearing that after a video!
I have a small Ogre army, though rebased for AoS. Well done!
Cheers pal. You have a strange feeling we will get new AOS ogers soon

I never use gnoblars lol. And yes some great alt sculpts out there.
really like how that turned out! very nice. ogres are in the cards to collect that's for sure.
Yeah they’re awesome and if you’re into that bit-they’re doing quite well at tournaments too!
Cor Andy! bit of sun and you're as tanned as the ogre in thumbnail! good job
Hahaha yep
Awesome stuff! Would love to see the Maneaters!
Yeah might have to dig some out!
Absolutely love the blue pants! Looks great! I would however use some nuln oil (or similar) for the metalics, Shiny and clean ogres feel wrong in my mind xD
Oh that’s a good idea! Hmm might go back and do that!
The pants look really good especially with the texture
Thanks man!
Another great video! I never did ogres because, well, so much flesh! But this is super encouraging! Love the blue jeans look as well!
Hahaha cheers.
Bright blue pants is like drinking milk. Just an excuse. When people laugh it gives them a reason (as if they need one!) to start swinging.
Hahahahaha amazing and that is definitely why they’re wearing blue 😂

More Old World. More Ogres, please!
Potentially in the future yes!
Really nice! Ogors are definitely high up on my Old World to-do list, seems like a fun and not too complicated army-project.
Yeah they're going to be a lot of fun to get done and see what lists we can make with them!
Brilliant paint job 👌 did the model justice
Cheers man, appreciate hearing that!
Yes Andy - Ogres !!
The correct choice.
Perfect timing I was going to scrap together an Ogre army for fourth edition. The model looks great and I wouldn’t mind see more Ogres in the future.
Oh sweet, perfect timing! I may very well don more in the future if you have suggestions!

I do have a rhinox to paint.

Oh that’s good to know. Time to break them out and try them.
Ninja Ogre please - those Maneaters are amazing models
Ye he is a great model
Great video as always! But not usung workshop paints makes It difficult for me.
Just use the paint conversion charts linked in description and follow the exact same steps!
I'd liked to get some Ogor models to kitbash into Orks
Ohhhh well that’s something I need to see happen!

I’ve done a lot of heresy videos. Every legion. Soo there mite be so thing useful on there as well.
What paints would you use to recreate the classic ogre kingdoms skin tone?
I’ve been thinking about that for a few days now. I mite do another video with there correct skin. It’s cooler on my opinion.
Hey man great video! Would you make the clasic orge scheme greyish greenish skin
I would indeed as it’s the scheme I prefer and what all my old overs are painted as.
Any suggestions for doing these with Contrast paints?
Oh ye I’ve soon a million visors showing you how to do skin with contrast. Have a Quick Look in the backlog.
👍

Ogres was the last army i bought and played. Yes im old lmao
Haha these young 'uns don't know how good they have things these days!
Im so angry about how long its taking the dwarfs to come out
I know, I don’t know what’s happening 😐
