I couldn't have said it better myself in regards to contrast. It is the fastest way to block in colour on a model for my style of paiting. No faffing around with layering up a colour just to layer on top of it again.
Please dont take this as anything other than a comment regarding the use of contrast style paints - the mini ended up looking great! The thing I have learnt recently is I was using contrast style paints just like other paints - small brush and thin coats etc. I saw some guides online and switched to big "hog bellied" brushes (I didnt know what they were either your art store does though) and I glep the paint on and wow now I see the use of these paints. Especially army painter metallics its night and day. Give it a go get at least a size 6 big belly and glep that good stuff on - for army painting big units you might find after a nice wash you dont need that highlighting step!
Looks absolutely fantastic. Also I would love the questing knight on foot video as well as a full week of questing knights and that necessary paints video
You're getting me psyched for The Old World. I lost almost all of my GW collection at the end of 2020 including my orc, Chaos, and Night Goblin armies. I bought some AoS Chaos guys and your video on ranking them has me so excited to get back to movement trays! I'm digging your style on the horse barding so I really want to get my guys built and painted.
Great video Andy, loving these videos. I'm tempted to pick up a box and paint some myself. I'd love to see a questing knights week Also 100% agree with contrast as a base I've switched to this method and it's so much better. Not for everything but enough that it saves time and looks good :) keep up the great work
So the reason to take a BSB on a pegasus is to put them in a unit of pegasus knights - they make a fairly terrorfying bus thanks to how mobile they are; fly 10 skirmishers that are also monstrous heavy cav is a very strong unit. Couple that with, say, an illusion prophetess to buff them and cast assilments - you have a unit that can kill just about anything and is also about as manouverable as it gets. You can also use the peagsus BSB as just a mobile aura, using other units to hide him since he's a fly 10 skirmisher.
1:57 I’ll only throw a big fit over the pricing if they charge that much for the old FreeGuild models even though a majority of them were on the site for under 40 last year. Also amazing work as always, would be nice to see your Questing Knights after those Grail Knights.
I have my royal pegasus BSB attatched to my unit of pegasus knights with the banner that means you cant stand and shoot vs them, makes them a monster unit for sweeping backlines
An amazing Knight, however what I would have done with the Lance transfer I would have painted the half of the lances that went into the black in a white, and then his the black part of the lances with a black to kinda keep them to that standard. That is just me though, Your BSB looks amazing!
I'd love to see you tackle something like the resin Screaming Skull or Tomb Scorpion kits tbh, curious to see what they're like. Personally I'm slowly progressing on my metal casket, one layer of detail at a time!
He's gorgeous! I'll eventually add him to my army but my first BSB will be that classic Grail banner one, which was MTO a while back. I sadly never got him for my old army and I really want to paint him for this one. I've just finished building my first unit of Men-at-Arms, ready to be a test unit for how I paint my whole army. I let my followers decide my Dukedom and they went with L'Anguille, the smallest and potentially richest of all Dukedoms. Luckily I have a can of Colourforge Republic Blue which will come in very handy. Next I really want to see that trebuchet video or the new Questing Lord. I'd be up for a Questing Knight week, need to get a unit of those myself, I'm also looking forward to adding some Old World content to my own playlists. Finally there used to be a way you could field a near full Pegasi army, hence why wizards and BSB's could ride them.
Never thought of the Bretonnians as German, but feudal France. Nonetheless, those standard bearers are lovely models. Your paint job is awesome. Hope I can do as well with my 30k and 40k models. Thank you for sharing your video with us.
I got a huge box set of the army painter speed paint, and the reactivation just sux. I'm super put-out by contrast paints. But I see what you are saying about how much faster it is.
Couldn't you join the BSB on royal Pegasus to a unit of Pegasus knights? I was thinking of doing that, and perhaps adding another melee paladin too, for a heavy hitter unit...
You could be for me one of the main benefits to a bsb is re-rolling tests for the army. If he is flying off with a unit of peg that benefit is lost. Can’t see it being worth it.
Just a quick one, very nice paint job by the way but why did you not put the coat of arms on the Caparison ? ....the horse's blanket or sheet (for want for a better word). You have it on the Standard but not the horse. Just asking.
"You can only take one BSB per army, and I now have four, so not sure how that will work out." Andy, Andy, Andy... SO disappointed in you! If you can only have one BSB per army, but you already have four, it is OBVIOUS that you NEED four Bretonnian Armies! There, problem solved!
I say yes to any videos covering Bretonnia and The Empire and The Old World in general. Great video as usual. Did I see correctly that you had fully glued your BSB to foot? I did that with mine and right after I did and put it down I regretted it, wish I had left the arm with the banner loose. But thank God I didn't do it with him on horseback. What video is it that you have made comparisons with painting with contrast/base color? I'm slowly but surely working my way through your back log, but I'm very interested in that particular video.
I did not glue the arm on my foot bsb that would be a disaster. If you wanted to see me finish it o will be painting it on stream tonight at 8pm Irish time. As for the video it was for drago trappers and it was a monk character who had elemental rock arms. Should be an easy thumbnail to find.
Questing Knight week would be fantastic!
❤
Agreed.
A whole week of Questing Knights? Ah go on then! Great vid as always!
Cheers pal.
Questing knight week is a must now. Love youre work.
Agreed. Cheers pal.
The good old days of an army needing 1+ Paladin with a BSB. That's gorgeous work.
also YES to questing knight nights.
Seams to be the way.
I couldn't have said it better myself in regards to contrast. It is the fastest way to block in colour on a model for my style of paiting. No faffing around with layering up a colour just to layer on top of it again.
Yep it’s so good.
Questing knight week vote!
Also great job on the model, beautiful
Cheers pal.
Questing knights? Yup!
Tomb kings? Yup!
Basically, keep the Old world coverage coming!
I plan to pal.
It turned out great! 🔥🔥🔥 Love your old world vids! Keep up the good work mate!
I will pal. Dont worry about that.
Very nice paintjob. Here's a vote for more Khemri sculpts videos.
Good to know.
Wow this guy came out amazing well done Andy, and such a gorgeous sculpt.
Cheers pal.
I love the The Old World, it has reignited my passion for this hobby in a BIG way! Can't get enough of it :P
Love hearing that!!

Oh I’ve tried it all. I just prefer this finish.
Looks absolutely fantastic. Also I would love the questing knight on foot video as well as a full week of questing knights and that necessary paints video
I think I can manage that.

Oh jump in. You won’t regret it.
Another great Old World video! I’d love to see a questing knight week! Great idea!
Glad to hear it.
gorgeous ! Well done !
Thank you! 😊
Finally, content for the Good Warhammer game! We suffer through the 30-40k for the real stars, the knights!
Hahaha cheers for being patient!

Lovely work and another +1 for questing knight week

Hmmm maybe. Thats a lot of eggs far away from your battle line.
I'd love to see you do more forge world models. I'm too poor to afford them, so I have to live vicariously through my favorite youtubers.
Hahaha I can do that.
Superb mate. Really good model
Thank you! Cheers!
Those lines on the banner are crispy af 👌
Thanks pal.

You should totally do a Questing Knight week. Love the videos!
I believe I will.

Not a bad idea.

Amazing once again 👍👍

It’s a tough model to get through. But you willl be glad when it’s done.
@@MediocreHobbies I finished the pieces; can't assemble it permantly till post-move. I did a dryfit for it if you'd like to see how it turned out.
Gorgeous
Thank you!

That is true. I’d love to field a full peg army. I hope your content goes well pal.
@@MediocreHobbies current test models are looking good. Can't wait to start the Knights.
Thats excellent. Hoping they announce dwarves or empire soon.
I think we’ll see something like that announced at the adepticon reveals next week!
If you had a prophetess are your general you could use the pegasus bsb as your combat chracters? He is her Knight Protector
Only the smallest character takes the banner. He ain’t much of a fighter.
Never thought of the Bretonnians as German, but feudal France. Nonetheless, those standard bearers are lovely models. Your paint job is awesome. Hope I can do as well with my 30k and 40k models. Thank you for sharing your video with us.
I’m sure you will pal.
I wish I could get these new resin models so badly. Can't seem to get them here in the states.
Ye a few people have said that. Sorry to hear.
Questing knight week for the win! Ta Andy 👍🏼
Delaney be the plan.
I got a huge box set of the army painter speed paint, and the reactivation just sux. I'm super put-out by contrast paints. But I see what you are saying about how much faster it is.
Contrast doesn’t reactivate I would recommend giving them a try.
Couldn't you join the BSB on royal Pegasus to a unit of Pegasus knights? I was thinking of doing that, and perhaps adding another melee paladin too, for a heavy hitter unit...

There was no raised shield on that horse so I decided to leave it. I did think about it though.
"You can only take one BSB per army, and I now have four, so not sure how that will work out." Andy, Andy, Andy... SO disappointed in you! If you can only have one BSB per army, but you already have four, it is OBVIOUS that you NEED four Bretonnian Armies! There, problem solved!
Hahahhaha Damit. Your rite of course.
A quick question, how much extra prep is needed for these resin models? Never owned anything but the regular plastic kits.
Not much at all. Clean off flash glue and spray that’s it.
@@MediocreHobbiesoh that sounds good, thanks! looking forward to more of your old world videos!

Royal Pegasus BSB+Pegasus Knights with a war banner with 5 models for a very strong, very mobile force that hits like a truck
Ah ok. Yeah that makes sense thank you!
Questing Knight!!
Fair.
Could you paint some of the cool tomb king stuff too?
I will indeed.
Empire great swords please! Preferably I’d like to see Averland!
I can do that.
@@MediocreHobbies legend! Wanna see your take on it as I’m working on an averland force at the moment
I am 100% here for questing knight week
Glad to hear it.
Please do the questing knights week, I'd watch the crap out of it
Haha thanks man
Interested? I happily watch all of your content.
