I'm an Englishmen to the core and love my iron to be British, but this CAR is a true work of art...beautiful lines and a HEAVY V8 too :-) What's not to like?
Brings a tear to my eye to think where we were and where we are...it is cool that we have started to rule the muscle car world again...now we just need to build them here..lol..thanks for cking it out...glad you liked it Brother!
Scottie, I couldn't agree more with your last statement: "It brings a tear to your eye to thin k where we've come and where we are at today and where we were."
Completely gorgeous, Holly Wood on wheels. ... And what a absolutely perfect gentlemen the owner is. One day I shall have my self a Cadillac 1953 - 57 model. Thank you for this delightful video. Kind regards from England.
Love Leonard's quotes: "drive down the road, everybody stands at attention", "drives like a Cadillac" , "every man should have a Cadillac once in his life" Plus I learned something "Dagmars" (well I wonder what that shape has in common with her? ; ) You said it Leonard.
A beautiful old car ...nice to see...my Dad bought one when I was a young boy ...Coupe Deville.. ..heavy great ride...he bought a 58 coupe deville...63 ..67..all coupe devilles..n .. finally a 71 Eldorado all beautiful cars....wish I had them all...when cars were cars
Scotty you ain’t a whistlin Dixie when you say it brings a tear to your eye about America from where we are compared to where we were. I just thank God I was born in 53 and that I was a kid in the 50s and 60s. Keep up the cool shows pal.
Great video, the owner plays such a good part in the conversation. Very nice clean engine bay. A 4 speed auto trans in those days was really top shelf.
That is one beautiful Cadillac man, so much class and personality. Lot of love and care has been putt in to this car for sure. You are right the U.S was it couple decades ago, U.S knew who they were what they want, though even today it is a superpower things have changed. Today if you want a car with class and personality you got to shell out a couple 100,000 but back in the day a middle class man could afford awesome muscle car. Its a shame but thanks for showing us this piece of art!!!
Scottie,I need an answer? I just purchased a 1952 Cadillac Coupe DeVille she is a 4 door but has sit for over 45 years, and original colors were Black out side, and a copper color interior! If we look at it from a Hot Rod God such as Scottie D from Tennessee,by the way my sis and brother n law are in Johnson City Tenn, but every time I watch you you say make a change? I want to keep a conservative side but a little Hot Rod? Your opion is pretty valuable, and the plus is?? It will pull our 1949 Glider RV Trailer, this will coincide with car’s color? We are around a year away from throwing paint on it,but my God son and his brothers will be doing custom paint! These young cat’s are Latino and talented! Thanks Scottie D from Tenn.God Bless man. Also any advise will be directly contributed to you the Scottie D world networks.
lol...I don't know about all that Brother....I'm very blessed to be able to do what I do...Stance and wheels are very import...most important.....Contact Me through ScottieDTV@gmail.com and I will try and give You some advice...I have no idea what You think is cool..and at the end of the day..You being happy is what is most important...
Note- This is a Series 62 Coupe which did not have the luxury features of the 60 Series 'Coupe De Ville' where everything was standard including power windows, seats, etc.
This is one beautiful classic car i love everything about it I have a 1979 caddy coupe deville I would buy this car in a heartbeat if only I had the cash who ever gets it will get a great car.
Heck yea! Made in the USA ! No offense to the younger generation but you cant help but to like this ride! Nice ride. Real hot rods dont have ac anyhow so just roll the windows down and cruise baby!
Your right...everything cool doesn't cost a couple of hundred grand...but still well over 30 and that mean payments over $600 and that's a lot for the average person..ppl do it..but they struggle to make the payments and than there is insurance and gas at over $3 a gallon...it's ruff on someone that wants a new Hot Rod...
In the early 60's I had a paper route in a lower class part of town. For reasons I never understood quite a few of the people living in cheap apartments had 53 - 55 caddys. I loved how those cars looked and have always wanted to own one. Those years had a style and class that is truly ageless. When you saw them you knew you really were looking at the standard of the world. The only cars I would say had, for me anyway, a similar style and class were the 60 thru 67 Lincolns. They looked like they were made from a solid billet, unlike the latter Lincolns that just looked like overdressed mercuries made of cheap tin.
I love it when Scottie says "Can we see under the hood." It sounds like he is a kid in a candy store. If I had 40k I would take it in a heart beat but I just spent 40k on my new handicap vehicle. It's called the MV1.if you get time look them up. They are better than any convertion van. It's built from ground up. I recommend it to anyone that is crippled
Chances are he will regret it one day..but you can bet he will have something cool again..once your into Hot Rods...you can't go fare...thanks for cking it out!
My 1954, Four door Cadillac sedan has less than 54K original miles on it. It is painted in Sherwood Green, original paint...I have power windows, power antenna, power seats, power steering, signal seeking radio w/floor control button, autronic eye headlamp control, AC with rear parcel shelf AC grilles, mohair/rayon seat coverings. Original spare tire is still in the trunk!!! The windows are all electric, first year for them!!
Another great video. good one Scottie. Really enjoyed seeing that incredible styling. And what a pleasant man to talk to as well. I reckon he's sharper than he lets on !
ScottieDTV -Yes my good buddy, It was your usual cool self Scottie. -Keep up the essential work here man. This is documenting historical vehicles, the like of which they will (doubtless) never build again, and your easy chatting to 'The man who Owns one' (yes I know that's a Packard ad. ref !) always provides some anecdotes relating to the endearing characteristics of the car's personality, how it behaves/drives tech stats, styling, possible market appreciation of each car and its history. Have a good one Scottie = )
Keep up the Great work. This history needs to be recorded. People need to see how it was. How an optimistic vision of post war America is epitomised by these types of cars. Much other history is about austerity, poverty and struggle. We get quite Enough of that thanks. These cars are a Celebration of the new found wealth of industry, when gas was CHEAP and 'Made in the USA' was on all products. ...Instead of um.. (well, you know.)
Scotty.... I don't think by the way you're doing this interview that you can really comprehend what a gem you have on your hands right there that collar package on that Coupe is probably the most desirable of that year or at least in the top 5...... I think you could have did a better job as in respect to the car and it's owner rather than that very nice video
Those, "...big old white walls," reminded me of when I was a kid, and my dad had my mom take the family car for servicing and tires. When she came back home with white walls, (this was 1956, maybe 1957) he went through the roof because of the extra cost! In retrospect, they were probably a total of $15.00 extra for all four, but the man did like to keep his money close to the vest! (Unless it was something HE wanted.)
What is the going price for a car like this? I've been in the market for a classic and I am really starting to love these old Cadillac's. The problem is that I am on a limited budget, I'd love to find a nice 50's-60's Caddy for under 10. Hopefully I can find something that catches my eyes and gets attention for that price or under. I'm probably just dreaming- but maybe that right car for me is out there!!
Beauuutiful. Cars had class back then. Cadillacs today are just boxes.
I'm an Englishmen to the core and love my iron to be British, but this CAR is a true work of art...beautiful lines and a HEAVY V8 too :-) What's not to like?
AGREE !!!!
I agree....they knew something about style back in the day!!
Completely gorgeous, Holly Wood on wheels. ... And what a absolutely perfect gentlemen the owner is. One day I shall have my self a Cadillac 1953 - 57 model. Thank you for this delightful video. Kind regards from England.
One of the finest cars in history. Love the lines and design cars had back then. So much more personality :-)
For sure!
the cars you show bring tears to my eyes, thank you.
lol..Your welcome!!

Sofas for seats, this is a very cool hot rod. The "fins" this year were small. Cadillacs ride really awesome **I owned 2 at one time,**.

I see that you have an electric parade fan on this Cadillac. My '53 Caddy overheats on very slow parades. The quality of these cars is impressive.

$40,000.00 is a good price for that car.

My dad had a black four door 1953 cadi. It's the first car I remember. It was around 1958
