- Here's a clip from another Dayton show at Canal Street Tavern, 2/Sept/94. This particular show was Jim Greer's debut as GbV bassist. Dig Mr. Jimmy P. on vocals! Revel in the spectacle of jousting Pollards!
Look for the upcoming DVD, "The Devil Went Home And Puked: Robert Pollard's Rock Show" (aka Some Drinking Implied 2), which will include some more vintage GbV clips. See the DVD trailer here:

pollard sounds killer on this roaring "parallel lines". class. top form!
Yeah that was pretty fabulous. After several decades i really can say fuck everyone else, GBV are the best American band! Ever...
Holy Crap, I was at this show!
In '94-95 I used to drive from PGH to various venues in Ohio to see them every 3 weeks. More fun than the human mind can bear.
"Quality of Armour" is amazing. That's Jim Pollard on the "yeahs". Jesus!
Superb Pollard 4-track rasp right here. Golden footage.
absolute best recorded versions I've seen of either of those two songs. phenomenal. that is rare air of the legend of Guided By Voices.
Brilliant archive video, love seeing them in their prime. Looks like a good time is being had by all. Very exciting and inspirational.
My god that was great. Pollard v Pollard. Rock and Roll.
This makes me so happy. "this song's called aquarian hovercraft"...goofy kid, rob pollard. And "Quality of Armor" is just good ol dumb rock n roll at its finest, un-fuck-able-with pop tuneage
TallFastLoud being a kindergarten teacher just tie up the enigma
❤❤❤❤

Instant goosebumps. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Thanks man! This is a gem of a great band
GBV POWERS ACTIVATE! GOAT 🐐 🤘

"Aquarian Hovercraft"!
Is the crowd singing along? If so ROCK THE FUCK ON
Jim Greer on bass here!
Thanks, lumpy, for this great vid of a great band.
@Zombien20 You're correct. Greg Demos played up until sometime in April/May of '96. Sweeney is on the Whiskey A Go Go video, which was early May '96.
Dude in the cap is Tobin! Jim Greer is playing bass.
Nobody reads my handcrafted notes, dammit! (to the right of the video window)

The bass player of record was Jim Greer.
and the awesome part is that "aquarian hovercraft" is finally coming out next month on the new boston spaceships EP!
Is the Jimmy Pollard on backing vocals on "Quality of Armor."
@alecbathgate I don't think sweeney took over as bassist until '96. He was still doin' the chavez thing pretty heavy at this point
@wolffmannnn Thanks, wolffmannnn. I should have another root through the archives.
That's Sweeney on bass isn't it? Thank you very much again
Duuuuudde... Where the leg kicks at!?
Bobby Rawson dude I saw them about 3 months ago. Even in his relatively advanced age he did some and each one was amazing. All of us need to stretch in the morning to fork up and eat our breakfast and this dude is still doing kicks.
Why is it that every time I think about you.....
Actually I read them every time and that's why I asked the question. It looks like Sweeney from what I can tell.
It's dark in there : C }
This one goes out to Kevin Smith: Chapter 18, mommylovers!
