Loved the images David. Being out in nature is as good as it gets, especially being alone with one’s own thoughts. Loved the different compositions of the logs.

    Hi, Dave.
    The photos are good again.
The one with the tree trunks is very good, especially the one you made with the 135 mm. But this is purely personal. There will also be people who like the 28 mm better. I think you are someone who is always looking for a composition. Whether you are in a restaurant or just walking the dog. Your eyes are the eyes that every photographer longs for. At least I do. The way you talk about composition is also fascinating to me. And you wonder if it is clear with how much love you do this. You radiate it completely for me. For you it is not just about taking the photo, but also about how it is created. And everything that comes with it, being in nature, but also looking for the right combination to present a beautiful photo. Watching your videos gives me a feeling of peace. I don't really know how to say it. A serene feeling. I really enjoyed watching this video again. And I sincerely mean that. Thank you, Dave.
    Antoine.

Thank you Antoine, you've got me figured out, 😆 I'm always looking for a composition, even when I don't have a camera with me, it might be a sickness Lol

The tunnel shot was really interesting, as was the long log shot. I can very much appreciate your comments about the joy in the process - being in nature makes it a joy, not a chore. And indeed, I think any picture worth taking suddenly becomes a joy (well, maybe not wedding photography, at least not for me! HaHa!)

BW is contrast. You are good at taking these close ups. Do you use 35mm? The more open woodland I agree its pictures you shown in this video looks a little flat, not enough contrast in the motive? I agree it’s a good life being out in the nature with or without a camera, but not too close to a city as I am.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion Thomas but I would caution you not to make photography critiques, like contrast and color based on a UA-cam video, a lot happens to the images and video content when uploaded and compressed for viewing, the videos never look like the original after uploaded. Plus every device for viewing seems to show the content differently, I have viewed this video on 3 different devices and it looks different an every one.
Lol when it comes to printing my work I’m very particular and I’m getting the contrast I’m going for and it’s quite possible I just like less contrast in my BW, but that is purely an artist choice, the images at the second half of the video were made before the sun came up so it was indeed a pretty flat scene, for me, contrast needs to make sense, I think the contrast levels reflect the mood I was going for, that’s just how I see it, :) have a good day.

@@seeingmonochrome I have some of my own pictures on wider woodland and tree trunks over streams looking similar flat? So I just wonder if it’s the lens or if it’s some moisture in the air. The picture taken with the 28mm at the same place looked good. I’m switching to some Zeiss lenses due to better 3D rendering but that is expensive. Why should a professional photographer like you be consern about what an amateur are thinking about your pictures? Okay I understand your view and its due to flat light. It's your choise.I unsubscribe so you are only getting positive reviews in the future

Sorry to see you go Thomas, I do care what people think about my photography, I'm just small peanuts in the world of photography, that's why I replied to your comment, sorry it rubbed you the wrong way but to be fair, as I said, you shouldn't be judging my work based an a UA-cam video, unfortunately you seem to have missed the point of my videos, I wish you all the best with your photography.

@@seeingmonochromeI see what you mean but I don't share it. You chose the medium and images are adapted to the medium you use. I agree that it is only when a picture is printed that you can comment on the quality of the work. I have not commented on the quality as I use a calibrated Eizo monitor. The reason I'm dropping out of your channels is that I'm using UA-cam to learn art until I have time to photograph more myself. Maybe it's a cultural difference, but we Scandinavians are more open to image discussions and if I can't have these, I won't learn anything.
