Johann Ludwig Krebs, the pupil affectionately regarded by JSB as the only 'crawfish (Kreb) in his brook (Bach)'. I can see why Bach was proud of him: his music is rich and satisfying, and his fugues are superb.
ok, here it is... I was trying to reply to @soundknight and ask wtf he meant vis-a-vis Scarlatti then hit on @Frankincense saw an emoji that looked like Frank Zappa which brought to mind encountering him at a gig in Marin County circa San Francisco @The Citadel, where he was either featured or fronted for the Pink Floyd.
I never heard of Krebs. These are incredibly sensitive and beautiful pieces. I would say this is definitely ahead of its time--hard to believe this came from the 17th century! Amazing! Thank you for uploading these marvelous pieces!
I knew about Krebs (and Walther) from some old 45rpm records of Peter Post playing on organs in the Netherlands. I bought those 7" records in 1959. Now this whole day of utter bliss! Thank you
Thanks for playing Krebs' music. Posterity is a fickle bitch, and sometimes some very good people get forgotten. I had not heard any of Krebs' music until this point. It is very nice, and well worth the wait. I don't know if it's profound, or on a level with J. S. Bach, but sometimes, you just need a good tune to make the day go right.
This compositions seem very much alike with Goldberg Variations by J.S.Bach. Krebs was a genius also ,a very prodigious genius. His partitures are very hard to interpretate, but provocative to me, because since last summer I ' m exercising the original partitures of Goldberg Variations at my old piano.
I was listening to Rameau and found it unsettling, then found this... threw another log on the fire.. poured coffee in a cup, looked out the window, the snow had stopped. The sun came out. I smiled?
Agricola y Krebs 😍de los alumnos de Bach. Pero no solo su contrapunto, también su letra es casi igual 😬 gracias x subirlo. Solo tenía una fantasía que toca M. Andre muy buena
Not as abundantly vast as Bach of course. But Krebs is clearly influenced by Bach’s own style. But his ideas are limited & more so often become repetitive & only follow a straight line of musical ideas as opposed to his master.

'Sie sind die einzichten Krebs in meiner Bach!' (You are the only crab in my brook) J.S. Bach said to his pupil Krebs.
Stunning. It's like Bach's tonal harmony meets Scarlatti ' cheeky, darling sense of dissonant melodic play.
Huh? lol

1:29:00 just sounds similar to JSB's Gavotte from BWV817😆

Krebs, a personal student of Bach's AND his son-in-law, I personally consider the very last Baroque composer.
Hey! Whoa. Krebs is an excellent composer. Great find. Much to appreciate here.

It seems I remember he made (or was it a later commenter?) a pun about the crayfish being in the stream (Krebse im Bach).

😃
Música sin talento,m sin arte, vacía, simples acordes, ausencia de inspiración.
