Brilliant performances by a brilliant if underrated composer on the Brilliant label. And over 8 hours of organ music that rivals Bach’s own. Thank you!
A blessing to all organ lovers. What a gift! UA-cam music is worth every penny. I am in Heaven! I started listening to 78rpm shellac recordings. A miracle to arrive at nirvana!
Se oye la impronta de su Maestro...Bueno: en otros...se oye la impronta del grandisimo Guastavino...Saludos !!! Buenísimo recital...Die gosse Konzerte !!! Vielen Danke aus Spanien !!!
The influence that passed from master to master.... I thought this with the very first melody I heard in this record. As soon as the organ started playing I had said "This is Buxtehude's!!" Then, I realized: Kreb was a student with Bach and Buxtehude had been the most admired organist ever by Bach. There is a link traced back among them. And the remastering of the chorals, as Bach used to do. Anyway, something's clear: he's just a disciple. In many pieces you can recall similar, suspiciously similar, scores by Bach, which means that as other composers in the 18th century he took Bach compositions and reelaborated them.
Ivan, you are EXACTLY correct. Kreb's organ teacher was Sebastian Bach, who when in his 20's WALKED to Lübeck in North Germany to study with Dietrich Buxtehude. Bach's organ compositions thereafter subtly contaIned phrases and devices reminiscent of Buxtehude. If one is familiar with J.S.'s and Buxtehude's music, the influence of the Lübeck master can be detected.
I listened to about 15 mins. It's uninspired and unmemorable. It's like reading a dictionary. He has a good vocabulary but has no poetry. The only pieces that sound in any way inspired are actually bach rip offs

Unlike the Kreb's Cycle in biology class, there's no quiz on this. Just kick back and enjoy, no stress!
Only eight hours? What am I supposed to do the rest of the day?
