i loved iris poudre the first whiff and love it still, i’m a man and i guess i’m drawn towards the “feminine perfume’s” i know other men especially my friends would never even give it a shot at trying it out, i believe my friends would not wear fahrenheit if it were sitting under the female section, i agree, une flier de cassie is what an elegant well dressed woman should wear, but if you feel confident wearing a perfume it will fit your style, unlike clothes i believe a man should wear masculine clothes, perfume stands out as a personality choice.
I actually got a sample of this for the first time a few days ago, and was put off at first by how feminine it was. The more time I spend with it, however, the more and more I like the aldehydes, which to me are waxy like a candle. It smells smooth and clean, but I really don't get any powder at all from this fragrance, and I would have preferred a stronger and more ferocious iris. Still really solid and I might get it at some point in the future. Iris Poudre's creator, Pierre Bourdon, also worked on Serge Lutens' Feminite du Bois (back in the Shiseido days) which, like Iris Poudre, takes a relatively rough material (cedar in that case) and makes it smooth like a liquid.
I was looking over the FM line, and blind bought a 50 ml on sale. I am starting to like Iris, so I went with a blind buy. I had remembered your review, we seem to have similar tastes Eugene. Dany is also my favorite Guerlain Parisian.
Always loved the contrast ov Iris P. and Lipstic R. , One is cold and quiet and the other is colorfull and playfull. IP leans on a side of iris silver mist, but i think it's so much better
I love Iris Poudre, just a stunningly beautiful fragrance to me. I find it a little warmer to my senses and I also get a kind of huggable, soft cashmere like quality as well, which makes it somewhat comforting to me. I prefer wearing and appreciating it in measured doses, otherwise I could quickly end up becoming nauseated and disliking it if I wore it every day and quite often, I just like to smell it from the bottle. That lovely image of your mother dressed up to go out though, sums up perfectly the visual image to accompany this scent💜
Wow I was just about to blind buy this after reading some reviews....just came to UA-cam to search some videos and here we are. Keep doing more FM reviews.
Last month or maybe it was February, you had mentioned Iris Poudre in one of your videos. I was very curious so I decided to buy a sample. It's a beautiful fragrance for sure. Definitely leans feminine but I have no qualms wearing it. Eventually I would like to buy a bottle.
Thanks for this review. This is my favourite fragrance from Frederic Malle. Something I only wear if I'm dressed up for work, or a serious event where you need to act dignified, lol. I don't get the yellow and green, more like ice crystals!
This channel will become a library for fragrances. Everyone will look for fragrance references here whether it's Chanel, Frederic Malle, Guerlain, or others if Euginius keeps making review content like this. I found on this channel the same concept ( Single review ) examples of Frederic Malle: Dries Van Noten, Portrait of a Lady, The Night, The Dawn, Music For A while, Iris Poudre, Angeliques Sous la Pluie, Noir Epices. And in my opinion it’s awesome. Well described, not exaggerated, based on his experience and what he felt, So people will be able to take a description of a fragrance. Well Done
Thanks to the article, I came here from Fragrantica just reading about powdery perfume talk. The author stated that Iris Poudre is an all-around perfect fragrance in that genre. Furthermore by hearing it from you, now I'm feeling very intrigued to find a sample soon. I hope a decant won't be that hard to find!
The first few times I smelled Irish Poudre I thought I would eventually have it at some point-and I still do!-but when trying out the sample that FM boutique gave me, it turned out the scent is more challenging than I originally conceived it to be... Somehow I couldn't comfortably wear it. Back then, I was gonna pick between this, or Chanel BOY edp. I feel like the way Irish is being used here is very similar to how Lavender is used in BOY. Need to revisit both scents-just because (;
I definitely get the green feeling with this one, at least in the opening. It has a strange refreshing feeling. The opening made me disappointed by the rest of the fragrance, just like with French Lover I really liked the opening but the rest was not so much for me.
It was gifted to me, and it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea. It almost seems a little cold, distant, but warmer when you get really close to it. I also get a sense of mystery when I wear it. The type of person who would wear this everyday is certainly unique, quite wealthy and a little eccentric. It definitely isn't a crowd pleaser in my experience, a bit of an acquired taste, and endlessly refined.
Just like aldehydes make you think of Chanel, my mind immediately goes to the words 'french' and 'oldschool.' Couldn't agree more with your review Eugen. Loved that story about your parents.
This is such a beautiful scent, great to get your thoughts on it ☺ Appreciate all the streams you and kristo have been doing, it's been keeping me somewhat sane 😂
I have yet to figure out these Malles (from my Essentials Collection), but, this presentation has helped me out with this classic, heavy hitter... Sweaty, yes... ylang-ylang, yes. A daytime, Audrey Hepburn.. Whites and yellows, I agree. I have yet to wear this, just dabbing on my wrist for the past year.. I am more drawn to Carnal Flower at this moment and maybe, Magnolia more than Iris Poudre. A classy lady wears this to the polo match, or Melbourne Cup, perhaps...In any case, this vid has moved me forward...Good stuff, young man. P.s., Oh, man.. nice vanilla in the dry down!
Don't force it if its not for you, there are great options for men including Vetiver Extraordinaire, Geranium Pour Monsieur and French Lover/Bois D'Orage. Hope you're well and would like to see more candid videos from your channel.
Well done review ,is there any different you see between limited edition to regular one . I’m own the regular version and want to know your options it is worth the price to buy the limited edition. Thank you for answer the question .
This sounds amazing and I can't believe I've not smelled it yet. My first post-pandemic stop in the Neiman Marcus fragrance department will be the Frederic Malle counter.
Bronze Age Perfumer I hadn’t heard that!🙁 Thanks for the info. Some days I just get overwhelmed by the news so I turn it off. And miss stories like this.
If it goes anything like the closing of Barneys last year, all but two locations will be closed the end of the day it’s announced. They way I look at it now that my city won’t have a Frederic Malle counter I’m obliged to order from store in Europe for 2/3 the US retail price
@@bronzeageperfumer5494 I've purchased a few fragrances from Selfridges and they are always cheaper than what you can get them for here. Yes, this is the only Frederic Malle counter in the DC area! If they close, hopefully FM will move to Saks or Bloomingdale's.
Want! Congrats on reaching 1M total views btw! Pierre with his Cool Water fame didn’t want his Malle creation to be duped. So he used the most expensive ingredient!
I wasn't aware of the 1M views but thank you for noticing. Yes, I remember them talking about that recently and what a great idea. Clearly Frederic is aware of brands being ripped of by "clone" or "inspired" by brands

I feel like I hear you thinking out loud when I watch your reviews. It’s really great. Don’t ever stop.👍
You should hear me talk in my sleep :DDD
You have a different take on Perfume ,delicious description of Iris Poudre.thank you
Absolutely love Iris Poudre! I found myself wearing this more than my other samples of Malle. I think the drydown is where this shines the most!
Thanks for your thoughts as always, I respect them greatly!
I just bought Noir Epices with my Corona money. Thanks, Government!
Brady it’s an underground masterpiece for sure.
one of my very first perfume reviews :)
@@usmellsgood That review was one of the deciding factors in me pulling the trigger on it :)
Enjoy it in quarantine

Vladimir Tanascuk I have lipstick rose, is that one you’re referring to the more playful one?

Love wearing this one.No matter it smells like an old lady...but with such a class.
Literally just purchased the special edition bottle tonight. Neiman Marcus had for 25% off and could not pass it up.. Amazing fragrance!!
Great price, i almost bought the Iris Poudre hair mist with a discount at Holt Renfrew but they didn't consider the hair mist a perfume so i passed.

This one captivated me years ago. Wonderful scent. This and Iris Silver Mist are treasures in my collection.
rhaybans dude, good to see you’re still kicking around.
U Smells Good I’m well. Thanks for asking. I forgot to ask, do you like Serge Lutens’ aldehydic fragrance La myrrhe?

Only you can get me to watch a 14 minute video on a fragrance that I'm not particularly interested in

Eugenius looking rather zenish as of late
Really hoping this one will work for me. Your parents seem much cooler than mine haha
For some reason i think this is more wearable for me as a man than most chanel exclusifs

To me, at first whiff, it smells like Samsara
What perfume did your mother wear? A Chanel maybe?
Dior, mostly Poison
