- During my visit to the home of AMG in Affalterbach, Germany, the keys land my way to a C63 S Sedan, let's take it for a drive! With over 500hp from the 4l TT V8 that's built at the factory on site, and a very shouty exhaust, there's certainly a boystrous side to it. However, in equal measure it manages to position as a luxurious cruiser, not a bad balance at all.

True it sounded so good. but i have to give props to Mercedes for not putting a 6 cylinder like almost every other car company is doing now. I would much rather have a smaller v8 than a v6.
And this is the same for all brands sadly, look at that mean bmw S85 V10 they used to do, now they are doing lawn mowers in line 6 cylinders*, still powerful but loses its charm.

this thing with a sports exhaust is monstrous in person.Wasn't a fan of the spund or look at first,but its honestly grown on me.the FI exhaust system is turns this thing into even more of an animal

do you really though? just kidding. but yea i enjoyed driving my friend's SLS AMG. and i daily a 2014 E63-S AMG wagon that has the 5.5L biturbo V8. it still sounds great, and you couldnt call it slow unless youve lived a lifestyle of cars with Ferrari V12's or things way more powerful.
The 63 name comes from the fact the model originally had 6.3 liter engine. ~The more you know~

I've got the W204 C63 - and my friend has the 2016 C63S coupe, I went in it yesterday. Totally different car in every aspect, but I was blown away how bloody nice the new one is, the sound is absolute ludacris, the M156 is fantastic, but this TT V8 dare I say is possibly better ?!?! I'll definetly be getting a newer one when i can afford it... But man was it a absolute crazy car! The pops and exhaust in real life are literally 10x better than in the video audio.

@@joeynono3964 Thank you mate - i actually just sold my 2019 C63s ! So in SUMMARY haha 3 years on i'd say they're both their own great cars in different ways. The W204 is more authentic and raw, whereas the newer one is more shouty and a bit more exciting. Both great cars.
Got all those options also in my C350, except for the V8 :-) Love this car!
Get the E or C63 S instead of the GTS for now

The Mercedes seat controls are always an example in for example the class in a Psychologist education, when discussing "design", and the psychology of design and objects/machines/gadgets we humans use. Just because it is so self explanatory: to move the seat forward you simply press the back of the "seat" on the door, and forward you go. It is a small masterpice in that respect: "how to get people to understand the funktion, without any explanation".
Buy this instead of the GT/ GTS as your temporary drive till you get the GTR

I don't understand why people think turbo cars sound pants? Any group b rally car, not to mention supra mk4 twin turbo, r34 gtr, silvias, imprezas, rx7 fd3s all sound amazing

Maybe it'll take a while to adjust to the styling, the interior looks awesome, but for me the previous gen c63 looks so much more AMG worthy.
That screen in the centre console sticks out like a sore thumb. It looks like the interior designers forgot to include a screen in the dashboard design and then stuck in on afterwards.
Nice video. Only thing I would correct is that I believe the RACE mode is also available in the standard C63 - I don't think it's simply for the S version. It's a mode for all true AMG models.
I have a W205 C63 and I can confirm that the non S version does not have race mode. Race mode is only available in the C63s model.
There's no RACE MODE in the normal C63

Impossible, every car has a different cost per country. Best thing is to go to your local manufacturer website and find the price there.

ten years ago, a BMW M5 was already cranking out 507 hp, WITHOUT any turbo. Nothing can match a naturally aspirated engine. A turbo will remain a cheap and dirty gimick for those who just don't know how to make real engines... Or for those who are muffled by restricting pollution norms... There is no way a V8 turbo will ever match a "Natty" V10, in sound, nor in goose-bump effect. If you never drove a car with an 8200 redline, you have not lived.
I found one of these for about $52k online with 25,000 miles

Who else thinks SupercarsOfLondon aka Paul should've gotten this V8 beast instead of his F80 M3? This is coming from a huge BMW fan! I prefer bimmers overall but the new generation of AMG's are so much better! I especially love the new E63s and AMG GTR.

Disagree to the max. Thought the previous C-class looked very bland and boring. I used the hate the look of the old C-class / C63, but this new look has really caught my attention.

Why don't you just buy a C63? This referring to your decision to possible buy an AMG GTS. Still an AMG but with all the space and practicality you require.
I think Shmee said he needs a car that can be driven long roadtrips and still get access to Supercar meetings etc. where you cannot enter with a Merc saloon. You need something more special than that.

The reason why the turbo V8 in the AMG cars still sounds as
good as a naturally aspirated V8 is because the AMG V8 is
designed as a “hot V” engine. In other words, the exhaust
manifolds on these engines are where the intake manifold is on a
“normal” V8, and the intake manifolds are where the exhaust
manifolds would be on a normal V8. When you open the hood and look
at the engine, the twin turbos are sitting right there on top of the
engine-they are, in effect, the exhaust manifolds. On a normal
turbo charged engine, the turbos are significantly downstream from
the exhaust manifolds and more or less act as mufflers themselves,
attenuating the exhaust pulses (and sound). On the AMG V8 with the
exhaust gasses dumping directly from the exhaust ports into the
turbos in the “V” of the engine, the muffling effect of the
turbos is reduced. In addition, with the turbos mounted this close
to the exhaust ports, turbo lag is virtually eliminated. So, in a
nut shell, the AMG V8 sounds so good because of where the turbos are
placed-in the “hot V.”
This is a kind of a technical description that any simple mortal is able to understand. So, is a very brilliant performance in the Art of Writing. Very simple, very intelligent and, of course, very talented engineer turned into a journalist. Maybe vice-versa. Maybe just a clever and skilful man that loves MB cars & AMG preparations! Whatever would be, congratulations! Loved to read and won't forget those concepts of AMG V8 TT engine. Thank you very much...

How do you feel about the uk road tax going up on the price of the car and the engine size. For that C63 it will be about £2.5k. It will effect sales on all expensive cars I think. You probably will not reply but I thought I would ask anyway.

That large screen on the dash seems very daft in my opinion. It looks like an afterthought, not integrated into the dashboard or nothing. It's like mounting an Xperia tablet onto the dashboard of any car.. Just comparing it to the likes of the new Giulia, it's all integrated into the design of the cockpit, and here it's just a big ugly screen just jutting over everything. I dunno, it just seems unclassy and messy for such a brilliant car..
The worst C-Class ever made...great V8 and great front end...but the back end of this car kills it for me entirely...the lines don't work at all. The Coupe however is wonderful. I'd put it this way. M3 over Sedan C63S but C63S Coupe over M4.
If the time came to replace the Ferrari, would you consider replacing it with something like this, a luxury saloon; or granted your financial situation granted you the option, would you vouch for the GTC4 Lusso?
Why don't you consider buying this rather than an AMG GT/S?
Did this have CCBs front & rear or front only? Was hard to tell for sure in the video because of the poor light. Fwiw, MB have started offering CCB in front and steel in rear to keep the cost of the package down.

Why don't you get a C63 rather then possibly an AMG GT/GTS? It's got more seats and still has good performance figures.
I still dont get why all the "supercar" youtubers are complaining about the turbos in terms of souns :/ i loooove the whisteling of turbos especially in these v8 biturbos by mercedes, it makes the v8 sound even more agressive and fast in my opinion :)
I hate how the sat nav looks like such an after thought...not just in this Merc but in all new models (except the S class) a company like Merc you'd expect a lot better design solutions...
The thing is alot of this tech is available in a golf, not as advanced I'm sure but it's getting there... everything this car has (tech wise) I expect it to have... it's not cheap!!
