    The Mummy is a great movie that harken back to Indiana Jones and other fantastical hero films like Willow with cool monsters, action set pieces, quirky humor, and even romance. The Mummy Returns was a solid if flawed sequel, while the third movie was unfortunately rote and by the numbers.

    • @dbzcollector9963
      @dbzcollector9963 Рік тому +3

      @@benjiro8793 yeah but you can still tell sometimes it’s cgi cause the characters tend to interact with the environment less and not all movies and shows use led screens. Tho that wasn’t the point, the point is all this would have been done indoors or through cgi rarely do we get movies done in exotic places these days. Like if it’s a rainforest movie most of the time it’s just all done indoors where they can control every aspect of the environment down to the lighting cause they don’t wanna go travel and have to work around all the difficulties.

    • @demonzabrak
      @demonzabrak Рік тому

      @@dbzcollector9963 right? A lot of shows that use the volume for a lot of shots will have complicated backgrounds, but the area around the actors are always strangely flat and empty. Everywhere in the world looks like world except the area right around the characters you’re supposed to care about. Sometimes they’ll put in some prop ground bits to help sell it, but that’s not every scene.

    • @dbzcollector9963
      @dbzcollector9963 Рік тому +1

      @@demonzabrak exactly, they may have made the background look realistic but it just doesn’t look right all the time. It’s more visible when they do close up shots too or when they have to walk anywhere it’s usually only like 5 or 10 feet before they reach the end of the screen and can’t interact with anything outside of a very specific peripheral. Unlike when they shoot in the real world like with the mummy it all just looks so natural for a movie being that old it looks way better than any led screen background imo.

    addendum: Napoleon's Egypt campaign is what got the west widely interested in the area for the first time in a very long time. Interest that has only waxed since then. But its funny. Napoleon sails to Egypt with an army of painters and historians and whatnot, as well as an actual army... But out of those 4 groups (Napoleon himself, the army, the scholars and the fleet) only 2 came back to France. Napoleon and what the scholars had been able to copy and steal came back. Just no army and no fleet.
    fun fact, the stereotypical sailor uniform of British and American sailors (dress blues/whites for the US) are both based on the uniforms used by the crew of the royal yacht in the UK. That set of three stripes that you can see as trim around the jumper's collar and flap (yes, those are the actual terms used, by the USN at least) are said to represent the three great victories (really 2 great and 1 decent) of Admiral Nelson. Copenhagen, Trafalgar and The Nile. Yes, that battle of The Nile is the one that wiped that specific French fleet off the globe. The land army was lost thanks to useless use of them on land. Napoleon skittered off back to France with his loot and came back a proper hero even. Nevermind the fact that he forgot to bring the army and navy back with him... afterall he had all this cool Egyptian swag.

    All this bs and political correctness. Were there riots in Egypt because Arnold Vosloo was not Egyptian? I doubt anyone noticed or cared. American movies have gone downhill because of all this "we must cast the proper ethnicity" and "we must include [this or that gender] and [this or that skin color]". No, you DON'T have to include all that. Just go back to making great movies and stop worrying so much about the diversity and equity.

    I am Egyptian myself and i wouldn't mind a white man like Vosloo to play the part of an Egyptian priest.
    He had the perfect degree of tan that made him pass off as an Egyptian easily.
    First time seeing the movie back in 1999 i thought he was a real Egyptian until i read his name in the credits.
    Extreme political correctness is not serving Hollywood very well.

    If there's a scene where one of the takes had a stunt person being injured, it's practically the unwritten rule of Hollywood that it is the shot used. Helps sell the stunt I suppose.
