But one thing I didn't show though, was how to scale the head model. You know how to do that right? For example, you can use Fusion 360 to scale the model using point-to-point measurement
Great suggestion! Personally, to achieve an even better level, I use the scan as a base mesh to retopolize in Blender and transfer the textures with image bake. In addition to having a clean mesh true to the scan it is optimized for both scans and renderings and animations. Definitely a lot more work than 10 minutes but the result is amazing. I would like to see in the app preview the clay version of the mesh and not just the textured one, it would help a lot to see if the scan actually came out well.
Hi Dario! Thank you so much for the comment! Yeah, I've seen users doing retopology and texture baking from the base model, the process was brutal! But to answer your suggestion :) The reason why we don't have a clay version preview in KIRI Engine is that the 3D model we use for preview is a low-poly version of the actual model saved on the server. So there is no point for users to see the model preview in clay version because it will have far less detail than the actual model you download from our server anyways.
Here's the only question I have: Once you have your scan perfect, how do you scale it correctly to be your actual head dimensions? I'm assuming just use calipers and measure your x/y/z and then scale to those measurements, yeah?
@@_Mourning_ oh, for example, if you measure the length between eyeballs in real life, and then go to 3d software and rescale the same place to real, the 3 dimensions will enlarge or shrink simultaneously. That's how I do it...
I would like to see a mesh view of our scan directly in the app if possible :) it would be great. Indeed, I worked on some scans during the holidays and i had to ask a friend to open my file on his computer to see the wireframe & full mesh. Thx for the work
Hi G! Thanks for the comment, let me answer to this: So the reason why we don't have a mesh view in the app is because the 3D model you are seeing the KIRI Engine is a low-poly version from the actual raw 3D model saved in our server (most of the phones will crash if we render the full 3D model on the phone), therefore showing the mesh in KIRI Engine preview is kind of useless because when you download the model it will be the higher poly version of the previous on the app.
Hi there, i love this app and its working fine withe really good results i see on scanned busts. I am wondering that the scan results in combination with a turn table are disapointing, mostly trash. I used a slow speed and a fixed position of my cell phone /camera to scan the rotating object. Is there a limitation is this use case?
Hi Misterbooche! Thanks for the comment! Yes, there are ways to use a turntable for KIRI Engine: 1. Only use a turntable for Photo Scan mode 2. In the photo-taking page, there is a dedicated turntable mode (aka. timer mode), it's the third tab next to the auto-capture mode tab. 3. You don't have to use the turntable mode during photo-taking, but if you didn't use the turntable mode, make sure to turn on the Auto Object Masking switch located in the photo uploading page. Hope it helps, booche :) Let me know how it goes
I really love the app and I hope I can get it working again. But for some reason, it logged me out and no matter what I do I can’t get back in. I’m on the right iOS account for sure because it shows my subscription active in my subscriptions. But when I login with my Apple ID it logs into an account with no unlocked sub features. Pretty frustrating. But to be honest, I’m not certain I can even use your app for what I needed it for. The location which I wanted to scan is quite remote. I don’t have any phone service there. Is there a workaround for scanning without any service?
hey derfmode!! OMG, I"m so sorry to hear about your frustrating story about not being to log in :( Please send an email to our tech support at contact@kiri-innov.com, Chris behind the email will make sure to reply within 24hours. And to your other question about remote location. Yes you can still use KIRI Engine, just use your phone's native camera app to take photosets and videos like you'd do in KIRI Engine and upload those photos and videos through KIRI Engine whenever your phone is back on service
i know you said Photo Scan is the best for 3D scanning method for Head Scan. But what about other method from the pro version like Featureless Object San or 3DGS scan?
Good question daz! Because I wanted to make a tutorial video that utilizes our free features, I didn't mention Featureless Object Scann too much. But you are right, Featureless Object Scan can handle the slight movement much better than the photo scan. So Featureless Object Scan would also be a good choice for head scan
Hey SwipeLess, thanks for the comment haha :) Well what I meant in the video is that everything we used for this head scan is 100% free, but other cool features in KIRI Engine that you might be interested at could require you to have a Pro account, but which is still a lot cheaper than other alternatives on the market :)
Thanks for the comment Robert :) KIRI Engine is a product that we've poured our hearts into, so it means we value the design as much as the actual functionality. So I apologize if the design made you feel a little confused, but we just thought this way would make the product a little bit "soul-ful" :P
@@KIRI_Engine_App I understand that you put your soul and even lives into that wonderful product. But there are not only young people out there who would like to keep up with tech, there are also old people like me. A lot has been done when it comes to accessibility, things that are essential for me. But with your app - as fascinating as it may be - I only see a huge step towards an attitude that is very much along the line of "let's get rid of the old people". I really do not understand why you ignore all those important achievements on the accessibility sector. Why HIDE a switch? Why??? It is nothing else but a bad decision and has nothing to do with layout or style or soul. Unless handicaps are what you promote as the soul of your web app. - I like Kiri. But I would want to like it more. Things like these are keeping me from that... Please rethink!
Great insights! This video makes photo scanning for 3D printing simple and easy to follow. Super helpful workflow guide! 💥
thank you so much!!! I love this video too!
Great video and tips! I was just needing this for scanning my head, to use it in a cosplay helmet. Greetings from Amsterdam!

yea, you have to rescale it...
