I mean yeah at this point it's pretty obvious that Wilson still remains the most underrated Brand in golf. I mean their tour balls are underrated, they're value balls are underrated, the clubs are underrated. Just totally slept on
I bought the balls When Walmart opened and tested them yesterday and today. Your results matched what I found. With my 60mph swing i was able to get to total distance of 125 yards with my 6 iron. With other balls that would take my 4 or 5 iron. This the farthest i want to power a ball in my current health and allows me to carry one less club. For that you have made my golf better for me at this time. I still think the Wilson Duo Optic feels the best to hit but that will come back later. Thank you very much.
Hey that's awesome. Thank you so much for taking the time to test the golf balls out yourself, and not only that, come here and share your feedback but the rest of the golf ball addict community.
HA, I am a senior golfer with a relatively slow swing speed - been playing the Callaway Supersoft and Vice Pro Air. A good drive for myself with those balls is between 190 and 200 yards. I tried the Wilson Boost (just for fun) and my drives were consistently 210 to 220 yards and seemed to go much straighter. This makes a big difference for mysel . Just amazing! I experienced similar yardage gains with my 5 fairway wood, 4 hybrid, and 6 iron. With mid-range to shorter irons I did have trouble with the feel and distance control. So - I’ll just switch to the Callaway for shorter shots, chipping and putting. I just play for fun and self satisfaction so I don’t worry about others think! Finally, I initially bought a dozen ($10) on Amazon. This evening I couldn’t find them on Amazon so I checked Walmart - nothing in the stores but your are able to order online and delivered to your home. Thanks to Golf Ball Addict for the review of this ball!! John
Hey that's awesome. I love that not only this golf ball works for medium swing but also for slower swing. It seems to check a lot of boxes for a variety of golfers. Definitely an incredible golf ball for the price point
@GolfBallAddict I purchased a box of Boost based on your recommendation. Its winter in Minnesota. So have not hit them. I am looking for some inexpensive LONG straight golfballs for driving. Lots of out of bounds off the tee at our course. You mentioned in the driving section of your review that there are a few more that are crazy long. Can you list the top 3? Also looking for a 7 iron ball. Accurate with top level spin. Distance is third. Maybe give me 3 unlimited priced choices except LA. And 3 great value accurate spinny balls. Once again 90mph driver speed, so a corresponding 7 iron swing. I love Golf Monthly. I was just over analyzing their 2024 ball testing. They ranked the Kirkland signature 2 very very high. Please test the version 4 Kirkland when you can find them. Also I purchased a box of Callaway SuperFAST. But can't find any info on them. Are they even a current model? Thanks....
Wow, wow, wow, just WOW! I've been seeing the Wilson Boost at Walmart for some time now for under $10/dozen. Although I am a HUGE Wilson fan, I just could not believe this golf ball was any good, mostly because of the name and because of the price. As you so often state, what are they sacrificing in order to sell these for 10 bucks? Well, let me tell you, I tried these yesterday and I was completely blown away. My gamer balls are the Wilson Duo Soft and the Vice Pro. Sometimes I'll play the Wilson Staff Model as well. The Boost compares favorably to these, in fact, in some cases it exceeds in performance. I'm a 66 year old scratch player from the red tees (6500 yd. course) hitting 180-220 drives with an 80 MPH swing speed. I tend to hit the ball a little low but with the Boost I was getting a beautiful mid-high trajectory and the one drive I measured came out to 187 yds. on a pretty lush fairway and soft conditions. And now here is something I have to tell you at the risk of sounding like a nut. On three drives I swear I saw the ball correct itself mid-flight producing a dead straight path. Are these things legal?! Ha-ha. On the greens it was a one hop and stop with everything from a 5 iron to my gap wedge. I love the feel of these balls as well, bouncy and soft just like my beloved Duo Soft. Putting feedback is just right too. With my TaylorMade Spider Tour X there is a pleasing muted thump sound that is not obnoxious. It is very satisfying. Overall, this ball is incredible for the price. I'm going back to Walmart today to buy the entire stock of Wilson Boost! BTW, I want to thank you for educating me on how to recognize performance and evaluate golf balls. I've been playing this sport for 46 years, and up until 2 years ago when I found your channel, I didn't care what ball I was playing (mostly because like so many people out there I drank the Titleist Kool-Aid). Sir, you provide a great service to us weekend average Joe golfers. If you only knew how much I appreciate your hard work. You produce some awesome and valuable content my friend. I wish you much success.
Hey this is an amazing post. Thank you so much for the kind words and the kind feedback. I also appreciate you taking the time to give such a detailed analysis of your experience with the golf balls. I'm so glad so many others are having a similar experience. I'm also really thankful that they are golf balls like this that can add to people's game and not break their wallets. It's a great time to be a golf ball addict!
Wow! Thanks for the thorough review. I really appreciated where you showed some comparison numbers with the 2 piece competitors. I also appreciate you doing a deep dive into these 2 piece balls. I’ve been a “I play whatever I find” golfer refusing to pay $4 and $5 a ball. A decent ball at a buck a ball, yes I’ll play only that ball till you find the next hidden treasure for the community. Thanks again GBA!
That's awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and watching. If you end up playing them, I'd love to know how to end up working for you. Any feedbacks appreciated 😁
Based on your review and comments from the community, I picked up the 24 pack of Zips that were still at Walmart. I traded a sleeve to a friend who has the Profiles and with an hour on a Simulator, felt they were very similar with the Zip seeming slightly softer. Being in my early 60’s, my swing speed is lower 80’s. With you Boost review, I’ll have a 3rd option to try which I appreciate as none of them are on the Wilson site???
@GolfBallAddict I really appreciate your time on the review. I’ll be very surprised if anyone else on UA-cam devotes a 20 minute review to a $10/dozen ball. Maybe other points to consider are dimple count or size and shape of dimple. For example the Zip has larger and fewer dimples than the Profile. Additionally if you cut them open just to see if that shows other difference in all the Wilson 2 piece offerings? Thanks again GBA! One further thought, as I look at spin numbers, I think about higher spin holding the green better but lower spin running out more for longer drives as well as being straighter (not slicing as much). Is that correct or am I missing something?
Wilson is the ball guru! They experiment with more balls, designs, substances, etc. than any other producer! Alert, I was in Walmart Cockeysville Md. the other day they had the Zip balls! Just sayin’! Good stuff Nick. Thanks
I think I am starting to understand why the zip was discontinued. They announced this discontinuation months ago and still have a years worth of back stock. They must not really have been selling well. I'm glad we can still purchase them though. Get em while you can😔
Snagged a box of these at Walmart after watching this review. Played two rounds and have hit a few dozen practice putts. I totally agree with everything in this review, these are a tremendous product at that price point. They were performing as well (usually better) than lots of $25-30 a dozen balls I've tried in the past few years. My previous experiences with Wilson balls have always been positive, as well. They know their stuff .......and so do you. Another excellent review.
Thank you very much for taking the time to try the balls out and show your feedback with them. I love seeing stuff like this. Really adds to the community element we've built here
@@GolfBallAddictI'm happy I preached it haha. Short of going pro and needing the Wilson Staff Model, boost all day every day. I've stopped buying the velocity because the boost simply played better for me and I'm glad it was justified
LOL, I shot a 79 with this Boost ball today (crazy), the same score I got with my Pro V1. I hit the ball to the same spots as my Pro V, and the iron distance is incredible.
I completely understand. Even myself when I was doing the testing kept thinking if there was some kind of mistake. That does happen occasionally but honestly there never has been a mistake with the machine so I always love the end results.
Thank you for your terrific golf ball reviews!!! I think I have become addicted to them.:) I may need a bit of clarification: Yesterday, based on your review, I purchased from Walmart the Wilson Boost which comes in a light blue box, just like the box you show on your review. And scrolling through your Comments section and seeing one from "Keith 5568" as well as your reply, I realize that your very thorough review was indeed of the balls that come in the light blue box I purchased and not in the darker colored box which I now know is an earlier version of Wilson Boost. (The ones in the light blue box I purchased are manufactured in Taiwan according to the printing inside that box.) But I see what seems to be a discrepancy which I am sure you can shed light on: The balls in the light blue box I purchased have black numbers and black alignment aids while what I see from your review around the 2 minute mark shows what instead looks like blue numbers and blue alignment aids. Is it really blue printing? If so, I wonder why my golf balls have black printing. I very much look forward to your reply and any further clarification. I just want to make sure that what I purchased are the balls you gave such a positive review of. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are terrific. (By the way, I see you are a baseball guy as well as a golf guy. I really like the framed photo of I believe the Oriole's superstar Cal Ripkin on the wall behind you during your review today of that new Spaulding DS Tour ball.
Thank you very much for the kind words. It looks like Wilson may have switched to the black lettering. I might have just bought them back when they were blue. You have the updated version and you're fine. I have tons of other baseball photos too. I have some Nolan Ryan signed pictures, Tony larussa, Ozzie smith, tons of good stuff. 😎😁😀
Wow. Maybe one day you will do a UA-cam video show about your baseball photo/autograph collection. I am still mourning the Yankees and that World Series inning where they became Little League players. 😮
We probably need an updated most spinnest golf ball across the bag video. That's what I need some help with. I'm naturally a low ball, low spin hitter, so I need a golf ball that adds as much spin as I can get across the bag. Thank you so much for all you do. I love your content.
Thank you so much again. I just responded to another comment from you giving you my email address. Please feel free to reach out and I'll give you some tailored recommendations
I know you have always enjoyed Wilson golf equipment, but you do test them fairly and give your honest opinion. I have said before that I think Wilson make too many different golf balls, good to see that this is one of their better ones and at a phenomenal price. Thanks for the review Nick, now I just have to find them here in Thailand.
Yeah I definitely agree with you. I love the fact that Wilson does such a phenomenal job with these golf balls, but I feel like they definitely can be condensed down a little.
Interesting. I've been a fan of Wilson. People don't realize but it is a top ball maker for all other sports. Basketball, Tennis, Football, Baseball, and so on. Their new leadership has stated to be a top golf ball maker. They are trending up. Years ago I loved the Wilson Velocity. The Elite 50 was good too. We play softy balls when the temps go down here in Iowa. No snow, we go! Keep up the good work.
I agree completely. I love their tennis stuff. Just like you said, all kinds of other sports. I think they have done a phenomenal job with golf balls over the last few years and I think they just continue to get better and better.
@@GolfBallAddict Hi. Any idea on different types because the boxes are different?? The one you tested and a dark black box. Same name. But one has blue alignment and one is just a slim black line. Hmm. Anyone have ideas??
Just broke 100 for the first time with one of these, and managed to keep the same ball the entire round too! Only mark is from a fortuitous cart path bounce
Glad to hear this! I love all Wilson balls I’ve ever played (mostly smart core-profile) and even back in the day the old Wilson Titanium ball. Always had good luck with any. I will 100 percent be trying the boost.
I have been playing nothing but Wilson golf balls for well over a decade now. Started with the 50 Elite and then changed over to the Zip. Hated hearing that the Zip is getting discontinued. I recently tried the Wilson Boost after seeing this review. A little firmer feel that I am getting used to. I do like chipping and putting with them. Good distance. I found durability to be great. I even prefer the simple Wilson as opposed to Wilson Staff font. I am not ready to say if I prefer this to the Zip, but at an even lower price, I am less upset about the Zip getting discontinued. Great ball, insanely good price, comparable performance to much more expensive balls. Thank you for these reviews
Anytime. Thank you for taking the time to watch the review and test it out for yourself. It means a lot to me. I'm so glad you had a good experience with them as well
Been playing the speedink, got these today to try based on the review. Ended up shooting roughly the same I normally do, loved this ball on the putting green. Only difference I noticed was little less launch but I hit some absolute nukes today and it was forgiving.
Awesome feedback. Thank you so much for taking the time to test the ball and to share your experience with it. Really adds to the golf ball out of community. 😃
I picked up a dozen when I was going to a course where you could lose some balls. I really liked the feel, it definitely falls in my preferred category of soft but not mushy feeling. The performance was good too. I didn't feel like i was overcompressing it, but this course was more of a target golf course. I have tried it a little at my home course, and I may have started to push it's limits there, but I think it will make a great fall golf ball.
Very impressive numbers! I’m wondering if they’ll be gone from the shelf next time you’re at the store. And a local golf shop near me is selling Zips for $20. So be on the lookout out in your local shops Addicts.
I think this is a revised version of the zip ball because the zip ball didn’t sell as much so they redesigning the ball and trying to get as close to the original zip
That could be possible. I know they came out with an earlier version of the boost that wasn't as popular either. It's probably possible that they revamped this ball for 2024 and made it a little more zip-like.
Was not expecting much when I got these. Played the chaos during the beginning of this year and didn’t get any spin whatsoever. These are insane for the value. In pa anyhow I’m going to be playing these for a majority of the year. They have plenty of spin to stick any green during this time of year and beginning. Only need a touch more spin during the super dry months.
One of the things I always set my expectations on when reviewing a golf ball is based on the value point. If it's super cheap, I don't expect as much. If it's really expensive, I expect a lot. I think that's fair considering what they're asking for golf balls nowadays. The fact that these came in at $10 a dozen and then performed and knocked my socks off is just incredible. But really more could you ask for out of a 83 cent golf ball.?
Thanks...
I agree. I've just had so many people get butt hurt in the comments over the last few years. It doesn't happen all the time, but about once a month you'll get someone who throws an absolute colossal fit because that's considered cheating. Good Lord LOL
Absolutely. Especially for the value. I love the duo soft and so many other people do too, but when for half the price you can get the boost it's insane how well that ball performs
Man I still love this ball, I don’t mind the Zip getting discontinued anymore lol. I think there’s amazing feel to the Boost. Maybe it’s just me maybe I just had good short game yesterday… But I felt I could anticipate bump n runs more and my putting was on point cuz of the BOOST 😎
I would say the majority of people who have played the boost would have to agree that it's a very close competitor to the zip. The performance and feel check out also.
Interestingly I jumped on Walmart app and they show two different Boost boxes, a blue one and a black one. Additionally I find no mention of it on the Wilson website, so likely a Walmart only release. I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but likely hard to tell how Wilson might tweak the design or source from different manufacturing plants. The different colored boxes had different manufacturing part numbers and the actual numbers on the balls changed color, blue in the video but Walmart showed red and black numbers. 🤷♂️. Enquiring minds want to know. 😂
The new lightly colored box that is on the thumbnail of this video is the new 2024 design. That black box is the old design. As far as the manufacturer numbers I have no idea LOL
@@GolfBallAddict thanks for letting us know regarding the different colored boxes. The light blue newer box seems marketed similar to the Chaos, while I thought the black box was a bit classier. That’s just an old man speaking and maybe not the targeted demographic for Wilson on this product.
I bought both blue and back and tried them out over the past few days. Keep in mind this is subjective but my thoughts after playing 9 holes with each: Black box: was getting similar distance to my normal ball the Snell 2.0 and 3.0. It also felt a bit more “premium” than the blue box but just slightly. Chipped and putted well. Checked up on me better than I expected. Blue box: felt cheaper than the black. I consistently got 10-15 yards less distance with it compared to black box, especially with driver. Putted well though. Checked up okay. For reference, I have no idea what my swing speed is, but my handicap is 18 and I normally hit my 7 iron 145-150 carry. I will say both sets went pretty darn straight. Seemed to reduce my usual fade, especially with driver.
@@ecjennings3 thanks for sharing your findings. Our local Walmart does not seem to carry the black box version anymore, so blue it is for us. Thanks again!
@@keithp5568 no problem. Definitely not saying the blue box was bad as it’s a great value considering price point. I will try both again to get a better feel. I definitely like the alignment tool on the blue version over the black as well. Would love to know their compression also but haven’t been able to find it online. Sleeve Box didn’t say.
Nick, I recently commented to you about the Wilson Boost as I was confused as to, among other things, whether the ball you tested was from the light blue box or the darker blue (almost black) box and if there were any real differences. Note that before I did that, I had emailed Wilson Consumer Services and had a back and forth with Ana from that entity addressing the Zip and the Boost. Today she emailed me as follows: "The Wilson Boost golf balls in the light blue box are from an older packaging design. The ball inside is exactly the same as the one in the black box version, so no changes to the product itself -- just the packaging." OK, BUT then she wrote, "I also wanted to let you know that the Zip and Boost balls are no longer being made." I knew the Zip was being discontinued, but I thought the Boost was fairly new. I wonder why they would abandon/replace such highly rated balls. So, if your followers like me enjoy the Zip and Boost, it may be time to load up on them unless Wilson can replace them with comparable alternatives. I don't know the future of Wilson's Profile ball which you liked. And yes, there are other very good two piece balls out there which you have done reviews of.
Really good information. I appreciate you taking the time to share this with us. Also taking the time to message them and get information from them. Good stuff. I'm interested to see where Wilson goes next year with their golf balls. Especially for the budget ones. The profile is really good but it's definitely a little clickier than the zip and boost
Nick, I recently wrote to you about how your Wilson Boost balls shown in your video had blue numbers and blue alignment aids while the ones I got from Walmart had black printing instead. Well…… I was wrong!!!! Under natural lighting this morning I realized that the ones I bought indeed have blue printing on their numbers and alignment aids. (Better lighting makes a difference. It reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where depending on the lighting., Jerry’s girlfriend looked either beautiful or ugly to him!😄. I look forward to trying out the Zip and Boost on my local golf courses.
I think it's better almost in every way. I would give the design and spin to the speed soft, but as far as distance, feel, and overall performance, it's all Wilson
Curious if you ever played or heard of Saintnine balls, specifically the u-pro model? They are $14.99 a dozen at my local PGA superstore, and are a three-piece urethane ball that also comes in matte colors "Misty". Super curious about these balls
If your are talking about the Misty model. I love them. I am far from an expert . I can compress them and the distance seems fine. I have not played the Uline. Would LOVE to see a review:)
I have played both the U-Pro and the Misty. U-Pro is a two piece ball with a urethane cover and Misty has an ionomer cover. Neither one is particularly soft but the Misty is much firmer. I get great distance out of both, probably a little more from the Misty. I just put a few Misty’s in my bag for tomorrow’s round. I’d venture to say the Misty plays like a Titliest Velocity for a lot less $$$. BTW, my swing speed varies between 85 and 95 mph depending on how I’m feeling. Hope this helps.
You said you could see the raised seem on the three in the one sleeve… did you check the other nine balls in the other sleeves? Could you see the seem on all or some of them also?
I'll take cheap looks for greenside performance and a 9 Iron becoming a middle Iron and a 7 being a long iron....240 off the driver followed by a 9 iron onto the green is a game I am familiar with.... from a younger age and if I stick that 9 iron 7 feet from the hole I feel like golfzilla,
It's definitely a trade off a lot of people would do. Even myself I wouldn't mind it. I've traded spin for a little extra distance with other golf balls and it has been very successful for me
@@GolfBallAddict Okay, got some data for you from the sim tonight. 4I - 95.1 MPH, 1.43 SF 3H - 96.7 MPH, 1.47 SF 3W - 101.8 MPH, 1.41 SF 1W - 105.1 MPH, 1.36 SF Absolutely smashed it with my hybrid 3. I borrowed by buddy’s 3 iron with similar results. The borrowed 5 wood and my 3 wood were over-compressed and driver performance was abysmal. 95 MPH is the absolute ceiling for this ball.
@GolfBallAddict I came here to bring this up. I got the black box ones by mistake (Wilson logo and red number) and theyre ok, but theyre a lil short on distance and cover is completely destroyed. One wedge shot completely teared the cover where there was little pieces of plastic sticking out and I kinda had to rub them away. After 12 holes I had to replace the ball due to ripping the cover with my irons. My driver speed is 100-105 and the zip carried 12 yards longer on average. Probably the worst durability Ive come across. I thought I was driving short so I teed up a chrome soft and gained 20 yards and my typical distance. Black box Boost is not a winner compared to zip and laddie. However there is no seam on these, and hardly any allignment line. Lame that this is the only option on walmarts site so Id bet most people have that version. Ill still pick up a dozen of the new ones but Im kinda leaning to the zips while theyre still $24 for 2 dozen. Black box bad. Do not buy.
That's interesting. So they obviously did a rebrand for 2024 and changed a lot. It's weird that they would spend so much time rebranding and reworking a golf ball instead of just keeping the really good when they had.
@@GolfBallAddict well, my point was the previous version was not very good, so Im bringing up that these two balls may be very different. I dont want your watchers to order these off walmart and get the old version because sounds like a big difference based on your review and my experience with the old version I was sent. I didnt know here was a previous version of the Boost, Im sure many others dont as well. Just a heads up for the followers to get the light blue box, not the black and blue.
@@ughhstuff, To be fair to the ball ..lol...if your swing speed is 100 - 105mph's...then this ball is not for you. This ball is meant for slower swing speeds. More like 70's - 80's and maybe low 90's. At least, that is what I've gathered from the review and other data You should be playing a 3 piece (minimum) and slightly more expensive ball. (if you are a mid - low handi)
120 ball speed on the 7i. Looking good man. You were swinging fast that day. What total yardages on the course do you like to play? I was going to say what tee box do you play, but some places the tips are 6000 yards and on some it's 7200 yards.
What's crazy is the swing speed wasn't any faster than my normal average. Ball just seems to really want to jump off the club. It honestly depends. Most the time I just play regular whites. However there are some times if I've played a course multiple times I go back to the tips just to experience the course from a different perspective
Nick great review! Can you clarify for all of us if the numbers you are providing are at your 99 mph swing speed or are they a calculation down to 93 mph which is what you have historically wanted to provide on this channel? I realize of course that if it’s a calculation and not an actual 93 mph hit that it would be an educated guess but may not be as Accurate as if the ball was actually hit at 93 mph driver swing speed. Thanks!
The numbers are from the swing speeds listed on the data provided. I use math to calculate what roughly the older golf balls tested at 93mph would be with the new swing speed
Very interesting. Why did you keep saying you were looking for a Zip replacement? Not as cheap, but still pretty low. I just got 24 zips based on your review and so far I'm quite pleased. I was also playing Lagatos from your recommendation before that.
Let me ask you a question. Would the Boost be a better option during winter over the 50/50 ball? I have been playing the Staff ball (absolutely LOVE IT!!), but I normally switch to a lower compression ball during winter like the 50 or Duo... Oh, nice video by the way!!
Depends how low the temperature gets. The Wilson Duo soft will always be the best ball for winter due to its 30 compression. However this is definitely a golf ball you could use in the high 40s low 50s and still get some pretty good results with it
My impression before I watched was 'another Wilson" but now I am intrigued to get a dozen. This is less than half the price of Supersoft. No color balls available :(
For sure. I know the Wilson balls get a little redundant after a while, but this is the reason why we test them so much. Same thing happened with the zip back in the day.
Asked for these for Christmas. I'm embarrassed to ask for $50 golf balls from my family who don't play golf. They would buy me the crap ones on clearance anyways! Is the compression similar to the Zip (65)? Could be a good cold weather ball for faster swingers.
Just hit the Walmart local to me in search of Wilson boost golf balls. I found them. But guess what I found sitting right next to them ? Two dozen pack of Wilson zip balls for the price of $30. I went with the zips😮
That's so interesting. I was told by multiple sources they were discontinuing those, yet they're still selling them on multiple shelves across america. I don't understand, did they really have that much back stock?
The box that is in the thumbnail for my review is the new 2024 model. The darker box is the previous generation. I don't know if there's any difference and I can't vouch for the old generation, I can only vouch for the new
@GolfBallAddict, Rite On. Approx. 75mph swing at the moment. I bought 2 dozen of the Boost black package the other day. Played them today, and w/ the combo of making some necessary adjustments to my adress and swing...I had the best round of golf this year and in quite some time. I appreciate all the leg work you do for us Weekend Warriors ONWARD & UPWARD ☝️💯
The obvious seem where the two separate halves of the cover join together is disappointing for sure, at least from a quality perspective. I don’t know if anyone could really tell with absolute certainty how much effect that tiny imperfection would have on actual performance, but what golfer wants that thought in their head? Could you check the other 9 balls in the dozen and tell us if they all have a poorly finished, and therefore obvious and raised seem? It would be interesting if you were to cut open the ball after you are done using it. I know there is only so many different colors the cores can possibly be, and having cores that are the same color wouldn’t necessarily mean two different golf ball models from the same brand are actually using the same core, but I am curious if some companies, and some golf ball manufacturing facilities, use the same core, and maybe also the same cover, on different golf ball models within the lineup of some company or even across different companies at the facilities that manufacture balls for different companies. Like, what if the Pinnacle Soft and Rush had the same color cores as their Acushnet “cousins” the Titleist Trufeel and Velocity? What if the Oncore Avant 55 and Maxfli Softfli (both made at Foremost in Taiwan) are actually the same core, and even the same cover?
Definitely something I will look into. I also wish there was an easier way to find out where the golf balls are made. I would love to know which factories produce each balls
As I blow chunks at this sport I took up about 4 months ago... Not sure if this is better than the .60 cent a ball Nitro, but I am willing to experiment. After I lose all those, I will try losing these and see if my game is less embarrassing .....
@@GolfBallAddict I am looking forward to you doing the review on the Nitro. If nothing else it's going to be a lot of fun watching your face contort with disgust as you hit the thing..... Good times!! 😂
@GolfBallAddict thankyou. Looking for a good winter option on the cheap. This guy's the bill at 69 to 65. It would be no more hard then a chrome super soft which I believe is a 70
I played my first round in a generation, well 15 years, it was pretty ugly until I got to the greens... 9 holes, 11 putts and 1 chip in from about 8 feet off the green, 5 holes in a row with 1 putt holes, this ball will stop on the greens and rolls awesome with the putter, 15 years is a long time between rounds and felt a lot of pressure for others to hurry, when I finally said Rome was not built in a hurry and said I will tee off when i am ready suddenly it was fairway green a chip to the hole and a good day putting , made mostly 6-8, feet and 1 15 footer, 50 footer was the only 2 putt, this ball is no joke it reacts really nice for an ,87 cent ball
Oh absolutely. The golf ball is honestly one of the best values I've ever tested. I don't have a lot of expectations for an 87 cent golf ball, but the fact that this one breaks records and adds distance with Superior feel compared to others in the market is just incredible
Picked up a dozen of these tonight. For $10, why not? I still have 4 dozen Zips in stock and plan on buying more, but if the Zip is going away this might be a candidate to replace the Zip. First impression, the ball looks really cheap and I'm not a fan of the dimple pattern. I like the simple Wilson logo and the simple alignment tool. No seam in this pack of balls either. Wilson does need to reconsider killing the Zip. Great ball.
There's definitely a lot more I wish they would kill before the zip that's for sure. I think there's many other models they could discontinue. Starting with that terrible ultra 500
So I mentioned this in a few videos, but I have zero problem mentioning it here. At this point I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not. We were told last year by a Wilson rep that they were discontinuing them and they would not be available in 2024. However this year they have constantly been available and they are still available even in October and early November it seems. For now I'm just going to assume it's still available until they're gone
When asked about the fencing once before, he said the previous owner of the property had expensive birds, so that person had put up the security fencing. Now he’s got a nice little practice area and he doesn’t have to worry about trespassers, so, good for him. It’ll keep neighbors like me from trying to use his golf green and practice net!
Wilson is absolutely the most slept on brand of golf ball.
@GolfBallAddict
I purchased a box of Boost based on your recommendation.
I went to wally and got another dozen on my way home today
@@jimnewton5904 Stock up while you can, you never know when Walmart might stop carrying them or Wilson might discontinue.
Get em while you can😔
Glad to see this review. Definitely could be my new go to ball especially for the price
It's definitely worth a shot. Worst case scenario you're at 10 bucks. Which is how much most sleeves of golf balls cost
Wilson just keeps putting great stuff out there. from balls to clubs it's all quality. Love the Zip balls but I'm gonna try these for sure!
I agree. Really can't go wrong with the price. Worst case scenario you're not at a bunch of money in your pocket
Really adds to the community element we've built here
FINALLY!!!!!!! I have no idea what youll say but I'm so happy it's finally out haha
I think you'll be pretty pleased by the end
@@GolfBallAddictI'm happy I preached it haha. Short of going pro and needing the Wilson Staff Model, boost all day every day. I've stopped buying the velocity because the boost simply played better for me and I'm glad it was justified
Loving that Mizuno cap! As a Mizuno ball player, gotta get that cap to asd to the collection
LOL, I shot a 79 with this Boost ball today (crazy), the same score I got with my Pro V1. I hit the ball to the same spots as my Pro V, and the iron distance is incredible.
And you spent one sixth of the money. Pretty funny lol. Definitely an amazing golf ball for the price though. I was so shocked
Holy crap! This is wild! Going to pick this up next time at Walmart.
Please let me know how you end up liking them. Would love to hear any feedback 😁
@@GolfBallAddict can do!
Had found some of these around the courses. Noticed they jump off pretty good but was waiting on your review to fully back them lol awesome review
I completely understand. Even myself when I was doing the testing kept thinking if there was some kind of mistake. That does happen occasionally but honestly there never has been a mistake with the machine so I always love the end results.
Thank you for your terrific golf ball reviews!!! I think I have become addicted to them.:)
I may need a bit of clarification: Yesterday, based on your review, I purchased from Walmart the Wilson Boost which comes in a light blue box, just like the box you show on your review. And scrolling through your Comments section and seeing one from "Keith 5568" as well as your reply, I realize that your very thorough review was indeed of the balls that come in the light blue box I purchased and not in the darker colored box which I now know is an earlier version of Wilson Boost. (The ones in the light blue box I purchased are manufactured in Taiwan according to the printing inside that box.)
But I see what seems to be a discrepancy which I am sure you can shed light on: The balls in the light blue box I purchased have black numbers and black alignment aids while what I see from your review around the 2 minute mark shows what instead looks like blue numbers and blue alignment aids.
Awesome review! Looks like I've found a new ball for my dad to use.
Oh for sure. Can't beat the price. Let him hit a million of them into the woods 😁😂
Might have to give these a go! For the price they seem amazing
Can't beat it. Even if you try them and you end up not liking them, you're only out 10 bucks.
Just broke 100 for the first time with one of these, and managed to keep the same ball the entire round too!
Only mark is from a fortuitous cart path bounce
Hey congratulations on that. That's an awesome achievement. Before you know it you'll be breaking 90 like a pro.
Glad to hear this! I love all Wilson balls I’ve ever played (mostly smart core-profile) and even back in the day the old Wilson Titanium ball.
Always had good luck with any. I will 100 percent be trying the boost.
Yeah I definitely recommend giving it a shot. Can't go wrong with the price
I'm so glad you had a good experience with them as well
shot 80 with 1 yesterday. Wonderful golf ball. Thanks for the advice
Hey that's awesome. I'm so glad the golf ball worked out great for you. Next time you're going to shoot 79 for sure

Every time friend. Thank you for always commenting and watching
Received same day delivery! Can't wait to try. Note I am not seeing the seam ; )
Can't beat that. Maybe it is just the batch I got but it's very apparent on the ones I have
Been playing the speedink, got these today to try based on the review.
That's good stuff. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and experience with it. I definitely agree with your take 100%
Very impressive numbers! I’m wondering if they’ll be gone from the shelf next time you’re at the store.
And a local golf shop near me is selling Zips for $20. So be on the lookout out in your local shops Addicts.
I'm hoping they stick around. Not looking good though. Buy all you can 😔
I'm gonna go buy a box of them I can't wait to try them out
Definitely let me know any feedback you have. Hopefully you get similar results that I got
Great review. Well done. I played with a Titleist trufeel yesterday. Seemed remarkably good and durable. Have you ever tested this ball?
I have reviewed it but it's been a few years. I definitely need to do a retest as soon as possible
@@GolfBallAddict thanks. It is reasonably priced for a Titleist!

So you’re saying the Boost is an old beater truck that gets done what you really need ? Love it !
Definitely gets the job done. A lot of people will be squeamish of how cheap it looks but the performance says otherwise
Sounds like one to try. And I always say, we aren’t on the Tour. Nothing wrong with putting with a different ball.
I agree. I've just had so many people get butt hurt in the comments over the last few years. It doesn't happen all the time, but about once a month you'll get someone who throws an absolute colossal fit because that's considered cheating. Good Lord LOL
@@GolfBallAddictbut it isn’t cheating. The one ball rule is only for the tour.
Ive played the duo soft and the boost
The boost is crazy good
Keep in mind this is subjective but my thoughts after playing 9 holes with each:
Black box: was getting similar distance to my normal ball the Snell 2.0 and 3.0.
Have not seen them yet in Canada, like to try them.
Hopefully they make it there soon. I think you guys still have the profile which is a decent alternative
Wilson has great golf equipment especially for budget golf...How would you say this compares to the Speedsoft?
I think it's better almost in every way. I would give the design and spin to the speed soft, but as far as distance, feel, and overall performance, it's all Wilson
I may have to give them a go for a fall round
Impressive for Wilson but am curious if this ball will keep up with the demand...
Good question. I don't honestly know. The zip ended up being discontinued.
@@EdKrisiak Yes exactly, the Misty ones are the matte colored ones. Super curious on performance between the two, and that Brand in general.
I have heard of them. I actually have a couple of them ready to be tested. I'm hoping to get them tested by the end of 2024.
Yes I saw that on every single golf ball that was in that dozen.
I've traded spin for a little extra distance with other golf balls and it has been very successful for me
Okay, I’ll pick up a dozen and tell you where the break point is for over compressing this ball.
Please do. It definitely felt like as I got to the end I was starting to. I think I still got 90 to 95% out of it with the driver though
@@GolfBallAddict
Okay, got some data for you from the sim tonight.
4I - 95.1 MPH, 1.43 SF
3H - 96.7 MPH, 1.47 SF
3W - 101.8 MPH, 1.41 SF
1W - 105.1 MPH, 1.36 SF
Absolutely smashed it with my hybrid 3.
@@ughhstuff,
To be fair to the ball
..lol...if your swing speed is
100 - 105mph's...then this ball is not for you. This ball is meant for slower swing speeds. More like 70's - 80's and maybe low 90's.
At least, that is what I've gathered from the review and other data
You should be playing a 3 piece (minimum) and slightly more expensive ball.
(if you are a mid - low handi)
Very interesting, thx.
Anytime. Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the video and respond with a comment. It really helps the channel out
120 ball speed on the 7i.
Also, are these only available at WalMart? Golf Galaxy/PGA Store/Amazon doesn't have them listed. Weird.
Almost bought these the other day, now I wish the review was earlier, lol.
After watching, Im now dissapointed I didnt give it a try. Next time.
I'm sure eventually you'll pass by them again in the Walmart aisle. Most of us end up there one way or another 😁😂
Very interesting. Why did you keep saying you were looking for a Zip replacement? Not as cheap, but still pretty low. I just got 24 zips based on your review and so far I'm quite pleased. I was also playing Lagatos from your recommendation before that.
It’s no longer in production from Wilson
From what we understand, I representative of Wilson told us that they were discontinued. That's why we're looking for a replacement
@@GolfBallAddict OK, thanks. Amazon still has them! Maybe I'll get another.
However this is definitely a golf ball you could use in the high 40s low 50s and still get some pretty good results with it
@@GolfBallAddict Do you know the compression of the Wilson Boost? I haven't been able to find it.
Not expecting it to stop and rip back, but will it have some stopping power on the green with low-mid irons?
yes
Who's the distance nod go to, Boost or Laddie?
That's a great question. I really need to do a retest on the laddie. I guarantee it's going to be down to the wire
Asked for these for Christmas. I'm embarrassed to ask for $50 golf balls from my family who don't play golf. They would buy me the crap ones on clearance anyways!
Is the compression similar to the Zip (65)? Could be a good cold weather ball for faster swingers.
Hey that's awesome. Hopefully you really enjoy them. Yes I would say the compression is very close to the zip. One of the closest I found so far
@@GolfBallAddict I guess so. I'm now going around to other Walmarts to see if I could snap up anymore
Not available in the UK unfortunately 😢 will have to buy another box of Zips instead 😅
Dang. I apologize
@@GolfBallAddict Hopefully they will be at some point. For now I will have to make do with the Zips which do seem to be available for the time being.
They are in fact available here. I didn't look very hard obviously. I'll pick up a box and let you know how I get on.
I noticed that there two different boxes, is there a difference? I was interested in trying them out.
The box that is in the thumbnail for my review is the new 2024 model. The darker box is the previous generation. I don't know if there's any difference and I can't vouch for the old generation, I can only vouch for the new
What kind of balls do you recommend for a high handicapper that can’t get the ball very high? Are there any “high launching” balls?
Titleist Tru Feel are really good and they go high! I'm a 8 handicap and use them
There sure are. If you want to shoot me an email golfballaddict@gmail.com I can go more in-depth. I just don't have the list with me at the moment
GBA...
Which would you buy and play ?
W Staff Zip or W Boost ?
Honestly at this point I would play the boost. My numbers were slightly better with it and it's cheaper
@GolfBallAddict,
Rite On.
Approx. 75mph swing at the moment.
I bought 2 dozen of the Boost black package the other day. Played them today, and w/ the combo of making some necessary adjustments to my adress and swing...I had the best round of golf this year and in quite some time.
I appreciate all the leg work you do
for us Weekend Warriors
ONWARD & UPWARD
☝️💯
Is the Boost the new Zip?
Closest thing I found so far
As I blow chunks at this sport I took up about 4 months ago... Not sure if this is better than the .60 cent a ball Nitro, but I am willing to experiment.
After I lose all those, I will try losing these and see if my game is less embarrassing .....
Definitely worth a shot. I've yet to test the super cheap nitro balls but I've heard terrible things. Could be an improvement for you
@@GolfBallAddict I am looking forward to you doing the review on the Nitro. If nothing else it's going to be a lot of fun watching your face contort with disgust as you hit the thing.....
Good times!! 😂
Do we know the compression of this ball?
I think it's around the 60 mark. 60 to 65
@GolfBallAddict thankyou. Looking for a good winter option on the cheap. This guy's the bill at 69 to 65. It would be no more hard then a chrome super soft which I believe is a 70
Does it come in Yellow ?
No I believe white is the only color
This sounds like the Wilson Jack, if anyone remembers that one.
It's been a while but I vaguely remember that. Wilson has a track record apparently of these balls
@@GolfBallAddict I think they just redesigned the ultra this year as well.
You talk like the ZIP isn’t available anymore. I just got 2 dozen at Walmart today. Quite a few still on the shelf.
Where is this guy's practice green Guantanamo Bay 😂
Alcatraz actually
Ease up on the disrespect, "Stallion". Nick is providing a great service and dissing his home is just not ok.
Dare I ask better than the Laddie?
It very well could be. We just need a retest of the laddie and we will know for sure
@@GolfBallAddict I do have to say I’ve been loving the Srixon Soft Feel lately.
Time to test nitro two piece. Battle of $9 per doz balls.q show how much better these are.
Battle of the Pocket change golf balls. I love it
@@GolfBallAddict that won’t even be close but a testimony to ball improvement at that price point.
You can see the line because they skipped some of the polishing process, which makes the ball cheaper. Obviously no big deal.
Oh that's fine then. I don't really mind it as long as it doesn't affect putting, which it didn't seem to do
Zip 2.0
The sequel we've all been waiting for LOL
