    Love the tree! I have made on with clay, then I tried Liquid Nails construction adhesive too. It's fun to play around and figure out what works best for each project. The broken window looks great too! The paper straws? Outstanding. Gonna be a BOLO for me now. BTW, if you ever run out of the stuff you used for moss, the green foam bricks they sell really cheap for flowers works the same way if you break it up. Maybe a cheaper alternative? You can use paint to change the color too. Pencil shavings work really well for that too if you mix them into watered down paint.
    Dried used tea and coffee grounds are excellent ground fill as well. So are a lot of herbs, which I do use, but I seal them well so the smell does not attract critters, but it's cheap and looks real.

      Thank you for all the ideas!! I will have quite a bit of rubble to put all over the floor of the coffee shop so having these different textural ideas is great! I would have never thought of pencil shavings yet I deal with them weekly!!! So glad you enjoyed the video :) -Ara

    I like what you did with the window adding the color did make it so real. While you were doing the tree I was thinking about looking at the bark on some of trees in my neighborhood. That way if I was to make more than one.
    When you put your electrical wires I think it works for the type of wires you were imagining them for spot on. It looks so good.

    Ara, That is an amazing tree!!! I LOVE it!! I always keep a small bowl of water by my paper clay to keep things wet and smooth, but the texture of this tree is divine, where the clay was drying at different rates.! I absolutely adore that you used real electrical wires in there. I was hoping you would since craft wire doesn't have that colored coating.I am so excited about more things for the interior as well! My favorite thing is the moss at the base of the tree and following the cracks of the floor. It shows that moisture followed those seams and most likely is why the tile adhesive released over the years. I just love the story of this coffee shop!! Have you ever considered using the plastic from packaging (like the hard clear plastic over the miniature furniture or products as a glass for a window or something? I am so excited for the next video! Hugs!!

      Thanks for the tip on the paper clay. I plan to do a live stream just playing around with paper clay! I have been enjoying using it! I have used the packaging for windows before and it has worked well. I already had this thick plexiglass however and I wanted something strong since it was already "cracked" :) I am so glad you liked the texture of the tree and moss combined. I love how it turned out too! Hugs back to you :) -Ara

    This series is great, I love making spooky stuff, might use some of the techniques I'm learning from you on my next project, which I think might be an abandoned asylum :3

    I watch a dinosaur diorma channel and he uses that same 'moss' as algea with a little thinned down paint. It has the scuzziest slimiest look. 😝 I love how it looks at the base of your tree!

    It's so exciting watching this project come together. I love all of it but my favorite part from this video is the window. It looks so real and dilapidated, like it has been sitting there gathering dust and moss for years. Now I'm looking forward to the next installment :)

    I am LOVING this. Could you please include a list of materials. YOU know what kind of foam board or the thickness of the acrylic sheet, but this newbie needs to know. Please.

      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 років тому

      I am so glad you enjoyed the video Becky! I will try to add in more of those details in the future ;) I typically use whatever I have on hand so many times the thickness or brand is not important. If it is important I make sure to clearly mark it👍

    Now I'm 3 years late but I'm a late fan so I had to comment on my favorite part so far, it's the broken electrical plate stuck in the baseboard. Your videos are such a nice little (excuse pun) bubble of escape...thank you! BTW how do you spell your name, it's really unique.

    If you like working with paper clay, I'd like to suggest you check out Creative Mom's UA-cam channel. She builds fairy houses from household and recyclable items, much like you did your potbelly stove and robot. Anyway, she uses paper clay a LOT. The kind you buy, and has recipes for making her own. Much like you, she has a great eye for detail. I am loving this coffee shop, and the details you're adding.. Genius. 💗💗💗

      @@BentleyHouseMinis The other day I watched her tear up cardboard with a utility knife.. and another one where she used a ball point pen just to draw lines on cardboard, and both techniques made the best distressed wood.. I was like.. ?? What kind of evil genius figures that out?! haha It was mesmerizing. Then I see you distress wood with wood glue and draw some lines through it.. and I was like? am I the only one that doesn't know how to distress wood with normal things? haha It was so awesome. Still sifting through your older videos, and still loving every minute of it! Thank you SO much!! 💗💗💗

      Thank you Cheri I am so glad you like so much of the project! I am loving it as well! I did go to school for Architecture and had art classes along the way and I would be lying if I said that didn't have an impact on my work. I loved creating projects with intricate details and making fun models! I am having fun putting all that experience to use in miniatures :) and sharing along the way! -Ara

    😵WOW that old abandoned building is really taking shape that’s for sure I love the idea of it😸 it’s a shame I am so busy will building my cabinets at the moment lol I was not able to find a unit I liked to use for all my project bits and bobs so have resorted to building my own 😹😹😹 well worth the effort as at the end of it I will have something that’s useful and practical just for me 😹😹 once done I can then look at making something like this it looks like a lot of fun that’s for sure 😹😹😹

      Do you use it to wet your fingers while working on the sculpture? or drip the water onto the clay? thanks for the tip! If you have any other tips let me know because I am completely new to paper clay but loving it so far!!

    • @Cate7451
      @Cate7451 5 років тому

      Bentley House Minis I am a potter. Use a piece of sponge to transfer a small amount of water. You don't want to transfer too much water. A wet finger will work to smooth. Use a wooden dowel or chopstick or needle tool. A pencil or rubber tool can make lines. A rubber tool helps to prevent burrs. For clean up use water and towel dry. Launder clothing. Do a good clean up. Clay dust is unhealthy. Have fun.

    Would the tree not grow from under the floor? So the tiles should be on top of the roots from the tree and broken and grown into the tree.

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 років тому +1

      That's a really cool idea to have the tiles sticking out from the tree. I have some left over tiles so I may try to see what I can do. Thanks for the idea!
