    Hi Ara, I am binge watching the abandoned coffee shop today and just had what I think may be a great thought for my own project. I had started working on the Fairfield house about 6mo before i found you on UA-cam (I was so excited you had the same doll house kit I was already working ((struggling)) with!!!). I've watched you put your house together and I have had so many problems with walls not matching up etc that I stopped working on it. Every time I go into my crafting area, I see the house and think I should just make it into an abandoned house. Watching these videos on the coffee shop, I really think I can adapt your concept into the House. What fun to make those walls deteriorate!

    You are so inspirational! I keep going back to old videos for ideas. Since I first discovered you and you lit my love for everything dolls and dollhouses again (my great love as a child), I have been collecting cardboard and well - everything that might be useful. My daughters are worried that I am becoming a hoarder... lol - but again - thank you sooo much!

    That pipe makes it look so real!

  • @richardsteele6469
    @richardsteele6469 6 років тому +1

    You might want to add some pipes under the sink for the hot and cold water taps. I would take the pipe material and paint it an old copper color with some copper green streaks on the wall and pipes like the water leaked onto the wall and ran down onto the floor and have it smeared like someone had tried to clean it up at some point in the life of the old coffee shop. You could also break one of the pipes and bend it or blow it out like it had frozen and burst. You could also add shutoff valves to them too.

      Great ideas Richard! I figured under my sink might need a few more pipes but I really like the idea of a busted one! Thanks :)

      I was watching an abandoned place...
      And you probably already have plans for some sheetrock dust..maybe you could use bit of chalk crumbles in various places like on the counters and window seals.. and even a bit around your fallen bricks outside too.
      We spoke about a water faucet out on your wall one day and adding a bit of hot glue dripping from it for water... (U tube has some neat samples to look at) you might even make a bit of stain on the sidewalk against the building where the run off water had been dripping for decades.
      Have a wonderful day and keep the fun coming...you are so talented.
      Your friends from Pearland, Tx...

      Giraffer Pillar I had not thought of crumbled chalk that is a great idea! And I have actually been playing around with resin for some water effects and I how found some other great products that look like water I hope to share in a video one day :) There won't be room for a side walk as it all fits into a snug display case but i think staining the inside would work well too. All great suggestions as usual! Thank you!

    I'm thoroughly enjoying watching this project come together. I love your attention to detail. I agree the drain pipe really adds to the realism. Congratulations on reaching 2,000 subs, you deserve them and many more :)

    This is so awesome that it blows my mind!! The qtips!!! Wow!! I just LOVE it!!!
    Of course the shelf needs mugs and plates plus there needs to be one of those big Bunn coffee makers or even better would be a percolator! I love this project and how mistakes, which you have not made by the way, can easily be covered with the aging and distressing. It’s my kind of project!! Thanks so much for sharing!! Love it!!

      Easy to cover mistakes are why I love distressing the best!! lol! I am really looking forward to creating the coffee maker but I need to find time to put in the research and make it great! ;) Thanks Leslie!!

    I know, it's an old video, but dents in the wood can be fixed by steam-ironing them. They should be at least less visible afterwards. It works for other types of wood, so I believe it can work for balsa too?

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  6 років тому +4

      Great idea as I think most kitchen areas are required to have drains! It would add a bit more interest to the floor for sure!

    • @richardsteele6469
      @richardsteele6469 6 років тому

      My first job was in a restaurant and they had a mop bucket sink in the kitchen and drains in the middle of the floor near water sources. It had a brass drain cover on it and was the dirtiest spot in the kitchen beside the mop sink. The mop sink tiles it was set in and around it were usually coated with dirty grease and grime and everyone hated cleaning it them. It was the nastiest job in the building.

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  6 років тому +1

      I think I will be adding in a floor drain and I think I can even push into the foam floor a bit to give it more of a slope into the center of the drain. Probably no room for a mop sink but I will be storing that idea away for a future project! Thanks Richard!

    There is a product that you can buy for dry rot in wood you spray it on the dry rot and it makes it hard as hard can be so you could spray the balsa wood and make it hard once you have shaped it they way you want.
    My UA-cam is playing up won’t let me into the 3 reply’s 🤔🤔
    😹😹😹okay did the next best thing I went online to the hardware store where I bought it from and it’s called “Earl's Wood Hardener” it comes in a 1 Lt bottle or in a 250ml spray pump bottle which is the one I bought. You will have to check your local hardware store to see if they carry it or something like it.🤔 I never bought it for dry rot 😹😹 I bought it to use of woods that are softer than others and can mark easy😳 found it to be the best solution for fixing the softer fibres in some brands of wood 😹😹

      Bentley House Minis your welcome Ava, it was only after your working with the balsa wood and my mentioning the spray I realised I could use the balsa wood for a few of my projects myself as it’s easy to cut but once I have cut all the pieces I can just spray them both sides and then it will be durable for dollhouse furniture 😹😹😹 I have not been able to buy the doll house wood here in Australia at a price that I can afford at least but with the balsa wood and the spray well this will solve all of my problems I think 😹😹😹😹 talk about a blond moment I could have been doing this months ago 😹😹😹 oh well as they say better late than never 😹😹😹
