I wish you would do an updated video with all the new BlackBox rules, site layout, etc. I’m not sure whether to upload 4K 120fps, or if I should slow the footage down, as I do believe BB no longer wants us uploading repeat content in different formats. An updated BB guide would be super appreciated. Brilliant work though mate, keep it up. Cheers!

I just uploaded my first ever stock footage clip. I then came up with a company name I'm happy with.
In anticipation of rolling in the dough, I told my boss to shove it.
In all honesty, I don't anticipate making even a dime, but this gives my hobby a target, which makes it more interesting for me.
Jeven, that was amazing! so well explained. I'm new to BB and have a MOUNTAIN of hard drives containing some great footage and I discovered BB through watching another video of yours. This was incredibly helpful! I’m familiar with FTP clients and uploading to places like Getty and Pond5 but BB need more clarification to upload. Thank you for explaining the Editorial option! Has ANYONE made any money yet from Blackbox so far?? If so, how much if you don't mind sharing. Also how much cut does Blackbox take, how much does these agencies take? I don't think anyone has made any significant money yet. By the time shutterstock takes its cut, black box takes its cut, I think you are making $23-$25 per clip, from what I can see. These guys putting up the videos, they are getting a small stream of income because of people using their links.

Black box takes 15% of net you get from stock agency. Shutter stock, pond5, Video block and Adobe stock all have different % of contribution pay. If you make 100$ sale, Adobe stock will pay you 35$ and BB will take 5.25 of the 35$. You will get 29.5$.

I think people have some very unrealistic expectations when it comes to stock video.
Not all stock videos are created equal. Let's say you've uploaded 100 video and all of them are crap. By crap I mean lots of digital noise, bad camera angles, bad colors, repetitive footage and etc. This kind of clips will never see "daylight" in stock video world and will never leave "ready" state in BlackBox. You need to be realistic about your footage and if it's bad just strive to improve it.

They'll be rejected if they're shot at bad quality. They wont be stuck in the ready state if they get rejected.
@@JevenDovey is pending review the same as rejected? some of my clips do not leave the pending review state
Qaulity comes through Qauntity. Which is where sales come.
@MP4 you can leave it raw,but if it looks dull to you,you can colour grade it but not too much

Blackbox is a middle man. Why don't you send the image/stock by yourself?
in the BlacBox Member FAQ it says "We have negotiated preferential rates with some of our partner agencies and these increased rates flow through to you. We can't divulge which agencies offer us preferential rates or which agencies your clip has sold through for confidentiality reasons."

Very helpful. I'll definitely file this for a reference! Now, all I have to do is start shooting footage that's worthy of being sold, which is harder than I realized! ;-)
I will tell you what. Fast of all,BlackBox it is agency who work with: Shuterstock, Pond5, Adobe Stock and StoryBlocks. When your footage selling on BB it is also sellling on others agencys, so you lose money after selling on (this 4 stocks) and then you lose 15 % on BB. What the deal? I can use one program StockSubmitter to all this stocks by my self, for my own.This app is so comfortble for contributors.
StockSubmitter is out of Bulgaria, how does that benefit a submitter in the USA?
Awesome in depth tutorial man! Followed your link from the Facebook group. Only little correction which you probably know but might help others... is the bit about the ‘ready’ status meaning it’s with the agencies awaiting approval. Apparently if the delete link is still next to it like in the video it’s not yet with the agencies, it’s still awaiting submission by Blackbox to the agencies. When it says ‘ready’ with NO ‘Delete’ link then it’s with the agencies (which is why you can no longer delete it). Look forward to more great videos from you 👍

"Because one of the hardest things in stock is just dealing with the upload." Oh... as opposed to say, I don't know... shooting world class footage? Yeah, that line there confirmed this is a promo for BlackBox. I was hoping for something objective. It's getting tougher and tougher to find genuine, objective content on YT these days that isn't skewed by commissions. :(
PJ ski black box takes 15% cut weather you find their service through a UA-cam or just on your own, so it’s not hurting anyone to give someone the 1% finders fee. (Then black box takes 14%) so it’s not a big deal giving back a tiny bit to someone who’s providing valuable info.
I've uploaded more than 250 clips to BB over the past month. Not a single one of them has gone from ''Ready'' to anything else. I've contacted BB a couple of times to no avail. They are going to start losing people unless they can somehow boost capacity on their end and fix this. I understand that there's been a huge rush of interest in BB but this is getting ridiculous.

I uploaded 2000 clips and 500 just went live. I wouldn’t worry about the delay right now. Honestly I’ve waited longer when I uploaded directly to shutterstock at different times throughout the year. It’s the Nature of the industry. Sometimes it takes a while to be live. Just keep uploading and it will all start gong online soon

Why when I transfer videos through filezilla, in blacbox they appear to me with lower video quality as if it were a preview?
Got the same issue. I would say it's just because it's the "preview".

I just use quicktime screen capture and all the boxes etc are done with graphics that I bought from motionvfx.com Its all done in FCPX

How do we know for how much our clips get priced?
Depends, Have a look on some stock sites, I've seen a-lot of 4K footage sell for $60 a shot, and some for about $150. There was a shot of a bunch of people partying on a roof top in 4K that was selling for $170 per shot and the guy had 20 of these clips loaded.

Q4U: is the video quality from a Samsung S7 Edge likely to be good enough for Blackbox (it'll do 4k but only at 30fps and it'll do 60fps at 1080). I edit with Filmora 9. Thanks

what happens if a user of BB violates the copyright, uploading contents of someone else and the stock agencies ban the whole BB account?
all the BB users will be banned for the violations of one of them?
Everything you upload is reviewed by a team at BlackBox, They wont allow anything to be uploaded that breaks rules.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Just a question; why, when I submit my videos, without editorial, it goes pending review (It's like that for two days now) and when I check editorial it goes straight to ready? Keep the good work :)
As a former advertising agency designer myself until last year, we barely ever bought 4K video. We wanted good quality video but small enough to stitch together with all the other clips to make our FB and Instagram campaigns.
Also on the BB site says, I quote:
" **4*K, UHD or HD Sales?***
Note that 95% of stock footage sales are HD. If you upload 4K or UHD the agencies will automatically down-convert to HD and other formats if a buyer wants those formats.
If you shoot 4K or UHD original files you should consider doing a 4K of UHD upload ***plus*** a cropped HD version so the subject of the clip is bigger in the relative frame. A 2X crop will make a big difference and will not effect quality as long as the focus is sharp in the 4K original. You can also add motion (zooms, pans etc.) Don't overdo it though! One or two cropped versions at the most per clip please! To do this just drop the 4K or UHD source file into a 1080p workspace or sequence and then scale the file to 50% (or whatever works). Just don't go lower than 50% as a general rule or the result will be pixelated and may be rejected."
Bottomline, you don't HAVE to upload in 4K.
