We live in exciting times, when big studios are going through hardness of empty stories and characters, but single artists and minor independent groups and studios have a great chance to produce their artworks and get an attention they deserve. I think it's a real wonder, and I really love it.

Recently, I have begun to think that a lot of shows don’t utilize the full potential of animation, to display motion, the potential to make every shot art, to capture a feeling that is impossible with a static image.
And right after I came to the conclusion, I see this.
Whatever this is, I love it and I will give it my full support
They don't because higher ups constrain them with impossible time limits to achieve maximum profit in the shortest amount of time. A lot of indie artists achieve greater quality because they're in it for the art itself, to tell the best possible story and show the best possible imagery. Big companies do innovate greatly though, especially in the efficiency department, but they're bound to popular, easy on the eye looks and easy to digest stories. It's not bad, as long as indie artists continue to follow their heart we're gonna keep getting cool stuff like this one.

I second everything you say but add that when they were wheeling the gurney through I got a flash of the figure being the test-kid-dummy from Monsters Inc (just the model shape and the eyes), and then that followed by the 'siphoning mysterious fluid from a door to possibly another dimension' just firmly made it a reimagining of Monsters Inc for me.

Hey everyone
Wow, I would love for you to develop the story. The way I interpret it is a sort of cyberpunk far-future Christian "afterlife" ("fishermen" has this double entendre). That's a cool setting for something.
Exciting to hear you are taking care with the story, I have seen far too many visually amazing productions be let down by bland and/or nonsensical writing.
However, even if it's just a feature length of this level of visuals, sign me tf up.
You didn't really say much about the story. A synopsis would be good to hook people in.
However, I guess this snippet is about cancer? That seemed pretty obvious.
Such a great vibe going on here. The sound design and music come off very professional. Have you thought of breaking it down into 20-30 minute episodes to help fund the production? no drm downloads.
Looking forward to buying it when it comes out.
Thank you for the clarification about story. My primary critique about artists is that they make beautiful empty worlds. I have a love/hate relationship with David Lynch because of this. I might also have personal perception issues, but I think my perspective is still valid despite.

This series reminds me of the Animatrix, which is the highest praise I can levy. Specifically the short "Matriculated," which I'm sure you can understand the comparison; even on just a visual level. The way you use stark contrast and vivid saturation to tell us implicit details about your setting means that there are several scenes where words are unnecessary. Truly, impressive work!

In a lot of ways, it's often easier to create this way without the executives mucking things up. Just the content creator and their vision. I'm so pleased that software has come far enough to put real power in the hands of creatives. I'm so tired of the mass-produced boring rehashed money-grabs. We need more of this kind of content.

you totally werent around in the 80s nor saw 80s anime, you're thinking 2010, you can argue the 90s sort of started this style and aesthetic but didnt take off or get popular until much much later
@@dennisthefivestarman8177 Huh...? He is talking about the CEL look, which ended around the 2000, and Disney stopped using it entirely in 1990. Artistically this takes inspiration from GITs and Akira which are 1995 and 1988 respectively

So good. It has that nostalgic 90's anime feel. I'm getting Akira and Ghost in the Shell vibes. Also the slow dystopian feel that gets you stuck and mesmerized as in Texhnolyze.

Holy CRAP! I watched the tutorial video for part of this, seeing it come together is AMAZING. The character and world design, the style, paired with the great sound and music production, just wow. Angel's Egg vibes through and through, and I love it. I love the fact that a lot of this has a hand-drawn quality to it, even though it is clear the humanoid bodies are done in the new CGI style.
This is disturbing, and enticing, and beautiful. The sound design also is incredible. For the love of God, don't sit on this. Please complete this; the world needs good work like this.

Shades of Miyazaki I would say. The way you animated the organic tendrils reminded me of how Miyazaki depicted demonic infection in Princess Mononoke. Amazing Work!!

That's because of talented composer Callum Murray! On a random day he wrote me and insisted to help with sound and music. I sen't him unfinished version of Fishermen trailer and he managed to come up with perfect audio and music score! Honestly he is such Godsent musical artist.
I've seen this in my recomended for like a week and didn't pay attention because I thought it was some kind of AAA roguelike cellshaded RPG trailer and I wasn't interested in buying a new game.
Naturally, when I finally watched it, I was blasted to see this was not only done by a single person, but also visualy inspiring, with some seriously fascinating world building concepts. You've got some serious talent and I'm absolutely sure this will grow into something great

Idk how you know that, whether it's a common thing, but this is exactly how I felt when I was in a coma.
Constantly floating towards nothingness; nothing in front of you nor behind you yet you can see as the surroundings change. I was mostly floating until the moment when I saw... cubes.
Red cubes perfectly spaced out and in a circle, floating, rotating and turning slowly but uncontrollably. Until I happened to be sat on one of them. A face, or rather a mask, in front of me.
What quickly was human sized transformed gently into monstrous, expressionless wall. As the mouth opened, my heart raised, knowing I cannot even move, scream, turn away, or even close my own eyes, I entered.
I was travelling through, what it seems to be an endless tunnel, just like the one in the last seconds of this video.
Being so tiny, with an ever expanding rings as you float, still seated, into one direction.
What felt like a solid hour, was 2 weeks in real time.
You honestly got me here on this one. I'm shocked.

I love this artwork so much, the transitions from the organic robot things to the "humans" is unnerving and breathlessly beautiful. Like when the doctor was looking over that kid and he looked like a full robot at first cause of the light on his face and they start counting down. I stopped breathing. I can't find the words. Idk I'm just proud of you bro. Great Job!

Love the re-emergence of old style animation bought forward with new technology. It makes me pine for a really dope anime fight scene using the old hyper-fluid 2d animation of older Disney movies, like snow white and Aladdin. Never gave a fuck about those movies, but the animation style has always stuck with me. . .
Same goes with Nausicaa, that older ghibli styled animation was just fucking phenomenally intricate. . .
