Not sure about anyone else, but thanks to ToolemanTV, these episodes look better to me than when they first aired. Thank you for making them available. ✌🏼
The logical distortions of Irwin Allen never cease to amaze me! (And I love it.) Now, dear Chip is not only the executive officer, and Captain Crain the Captain, but turns out somehow they have been moonlight training as astronauts too!
I wish my Navy frigate's Exec had been as good. He was a first class SOB, and proudly proclaimed it on the shipwide 1MC (loud speaker) when he signed aboard. 😯
@@lancerevell5979 But, it must have been hard for him to be constantly pushed from side to side with sparklers going off out of the electronics all the time...
I remember this one - Seaview crewmembers experiencing space travel and even teleportation to another planet, courtesy of aliens that looked like forerunners of Jar Jar Binks from the Star Wars movies. 🙂
❤ Great. Catching up tonight due to work commitments when first aired. After a long hard day today this is fun to enjoy...and now for the next episode you uploaded dear TooleMan, I appreciate these treats 🙏🏻👍🥰 Thank you 🙋🇬🇧... ....update: .ah, for some reason I thought there was a double episode on... my mistake.😂 until next time then ⏳
I can remember many years ago watching the free version of Hulu and it had some of the episodes of Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea I don't think they have that anymore.
The captain as well as the rest of the crew had to be "Jack o all trades and a master of of none when hired by the Admiral. Made for more stories . 😊😊😊😊 7:31
Paul. I'm with you. I love this one for the sheer wackiness of it, incredible imagination, and the props and sets. Voyage and Lost In Space may have had some Extra to spend this year (67 68) with the unfortunate cancelation of Time Tunnel. Yes, I've been mulling over the "Seaview Rocket Launch" too. It appears that submarine launched rockets aren't big enough for the job shown here. That roomy capsule (a beauty) is too big, too. The Seaview 's size: how can it accommodate the Space Launch room [capsule storage and launch] AND offer TWO capsules inside the sub? [The Gold Key comic books REALLY delivered on a TARDIS effect there. Multiple decks, multiple vehicle stowage, even deck guns]. Im guessing that the production didn't really expect anyone to notice any of this. I've tried to contact marine engineering offices and even naval engineering offices and just about everybody blew me off on this except Scale Modeler and a commentator on naval matters on a particular forum. The commentator said that atomic submarine construction yards can reach a 700 foot limit; otherwise "a submarine could be as long as engineers might have it." I'm not a mathematics expert so I'm limited in what I can do. Sure, a small craft might somehow be sent aloft on "handwavium" fuel, but Chip's rocket is shown to have stages...requiring a certain size type....Until some Einstein can do the calculations for us, I'm compelled to consider that the only way to pull this episode off is to have an underwater launch from one of the bigger underwater base types previously shown on the series [the "Drill Control Dome" from "Mechanical Man" , reused in "Rescue", in particular ]. With Seaview as the guardian nurse maid for the effort. "Journey With Fear" is definitely a "cartoon with real people," as a critic once called Voyage and Space. The Aliens appear to be too dopey in their "intelligence", maybe as robots or cyborgs they might be excused for their ignorance of Earth capabilities. Still, this is another audacious episode. Spacenapping a submarine? Incredible! SeaQuest attempted the same thing later, and that episode should have been epic. Instead, it was terribly ponderous, relying on "conversation", the way so much later SF fell into. This Voyage sure hops. Seaview length? Initial estimate was 420 feet, like the old George Washington class missile boats. But the movie sub wound up being too roomy. Later estimates came in at 520 to 620 feet. But is 620 feet enough? There's a good but brief post on this episode and where it got its props at "Say Hello Spaceman," an amusing site.
@@AdmiralNelson1000 it's madness It's like the episode Man of Many Faces. One article suggested the episode would have worked, had the killer been a Shape changing Alien. But as it wasn't the plot was flawed

Irwin Allen was a true cinemagraphic genius! This episode rivaled the original Star Trek in techical visuals and plot, and could be mesh with the storyline of Star Trek series!

You're right. Correct assessment. I had rolled with the action and overlooked this. Maybe their replacements will think better (I had figured that they were a little dopey for advanced aliens) and perhaps choose....Mars?
They had better get control of their muzzles. They were shooting at one of the nasties with an equipment panel behind it, and Crane shot at that gadget that was keeping Morton prisoner. Bullets tend to ricochet you know.
It's a pity Irwin didn't use some of the planet scenery for this episode in Lost in Space. As much as I like that show, one can only pass the same rock so many times
The Seaview seems to get bigger in every episode - now large enough to house a rocket and capsule 😂 And obviously you'd store in the capsule - designed only to orbit the earth 3 times - a couple of guns just in case 😅
Both shows had a lot of pulp fiction material to draw on with production people previously busy on all kinds of movies and TV in the past. Writers and directors sometimes dated back to the old Saturday Matinee Serials, pulp fiction novels...Effects and props perfected across decades of imagination....
This episode reminded me of Lost in Space, Spy episodes are like Mission Impossible. So the aliens were bullet proof until they were not. After interagating Chip Morton the aliens should have realized earth was too primitive to be a threat and gone home.
Looking back now, this were quite funny 😁all the creep coloued paper around as their rocks and stones 😆and the back up guy could move around other planet without a suit 😁🤭😆. The alien speam good english too.
I wondered why my father only watched the first two seasons of Voyage and then lost interest. This script was absolutely horrible, I think it's worse than the talking carrot episode from Lost in Space. At least Lost in Space could get away with this kind of silly writing. Don't get me wrong… I love the craziness of Irwin Allen to an extent but this script would have been better written by a ten year-old that understood basic grade school science. I can only imagine how painful it was for the actors to struggle through such a poorly written story. It's clear to see why the ratings continue to go down from what started out to be a fantastic Science Fiction series. Nevertheless I very much appreciate that it is posted and that I can watch it to bring back memories.
Boeing should watch about how a thruster works. And Tooleman shows they could make money too! Maybe Boeing could make a Flying Sub as well. Except it wouldn't work, cost 10 times what they said, and be 13 years late ala 777X.
