Basically, Klaatu says that the federation of planets beyond Earth locked themselves into a jail. They gave up their autonomy to a race of powerful robots that dictate their moral behavior. -- Behave or be obliterated.
@@maharajjinkb7824not to dictate morals, but to uphold the morals the federation agreed upon without favoritism. Our United Nations was supposed to do this- intervene against any aggressor. Unfortunately, it just aligned the world’s countries with various members of the Security Council.

@rochford59, Morality is something absent in most cultures, some more than others. The shoot first and ask questions later rule following military, and police is really no different now. The United Nations are about as unholy of a group as they come because nobody is united. Morals are absent in every aspect of society with corporate greed being the driving factor behind most decisions. Most people are so programmed by the Tell A Vision now they can't even figure out what sex they are let alone anything else like critical thinking skills. The entire science FICTION in movies was to program people into thinking we can go to some distant world. We can't go anywhere, we never will go anywhere because governments are into controlling the masses, indoctrinating our youth, and several generations of young people are devoid of any morals, decency, or discretion.

So much better than the 2008 version and unfortunately relevant to today’s problems in the world as well. We haven’t progressed much morally in the last 73 years.
I saw this movie when I was in elementary school back in the sixties. Even the eerie music is still really really scary. Gosh. I hope I can sleep tonight.
Way better than the remake, which turned the whole story upside down, it was about travelling into space and causing problems, nothing about environmental issues
One thing in common with the old and the new version of this movie is that the US government casually (and contemptuously) disregarded Klaatu's explicit request to speak to the UN's assembled representatives of all nations on earth. Then the US fired first and distorted Klaatu's message to the entire world. If a remake were ever produced a third time, the spacecraft ought to land in Shanghai or New Delhi, and present a different script to show how those nations could react, in the name of our species.
@stephenhill8790, The so called environmental, or climate change lie is to get people to go along with the one world order of control. Pretty much all of the science fiction in movies programs people to accept the governments version of events as fact. The ones doing the most environmental damage is the governments themselves, weather control, control of all media and the narrative, and of course starting endless wars to make a lot of money for corporate greed. This cycle of violence by the governments against the people must stop but it will never stop because of the evil forces behind every institution, and system of government. Even the foundations of morality have been distorted and even corrupted by the religions, which are in and of themselves other means of controlling the masses. The poisoning of the water, food, and the the corruption from everything from the financial, to the medical system must stop. The most basic way to understand at what point we are as a society worldwide, is simply Revelation 9:21.The entire world would not repent of their murders(abortion, wars, poisoning everything), they would not repent of their sorcery( pharmacy, fluoride in drinking water, GMO foods etc. the list is quite long), their sexual immorality( gays, pronouns, sexual perversion, children being sexually abused,etc.etc.) and of course the massive theft by a few large corporations the likes to which have never been seen( The Federal Reserve, IMF, banks, corporations like Amazon, so called "communications"companies, the list is quite long). Another words the simple way to understand why society is about to implode is because nobody wants to deviate from their total lack of moral values. People also lack the decency, common sense, and moral values needed to further humanity as a whole. Sheeple just staring at screens, redundant communications, and a bunch of lazy people to consumed with social media, and sensationalism, to even function on even the most basic levels of decency or respect for others. The science fiction mind control in movies even paints a picture that people could all get along (like a star trek federation), but the reality is people will never get along absent of morals towards one another. It's not even about religion so much is it's about a spiritual sickness in people's hearts, that can't and never will be fixed by any political solution. It must come from people's hearts, without that most of humanity will be wiped out by the so called "elite", which are neither elite, special, or decent in any way. The controllers are the ones who have to go, and the people need to understand who the real enemy is, and quit fighting and killing one another in wars and political nonsense, and doing the one world orders dirty work for them.
It's interesting how Klaatu's people operate the opposite of the United Federation of Planets' prime directive. They directly interfere. Surely, they had technology to communicate with all the governments without asking the US to organise a conference. Fab film.
One of my all time favorites. Not just of the sci-fi genre, but any genre. The dialogue between Klaatu and the man representing the president when Klaatu is in the hospital is first rate.
A few years ago, I was watching this movie for the hundredth time (I'm old) when a much younger video gamer/sci-fi geek in the next room actually cried out when he heard Klaatu Barada Nikto come from the TV. He'd heard it said many times in sci-fi parody, but never knew where it came from. Oddly enough, he never thought to ask me if I knew, even though I had named my cat Katu Barada Neko (neko being Japanese for cat).😄
Back in the 1960's this film would appear occasionally on Saturday afternoon TV, and I was always totally engrossed by it. Many times since (dozens?) I tell myself "I'll just watch the first 10 minutes" (my favorite part), and every time, I end up watching the whole film. I think it's the best science fiction movie ever made, and yet, it's not even very "science fictionany". "Contact" is a my second favorite...

My favourite Sci-Fi of all time and a real treat to watch it again with great clarity, thanks for posting. Not many inconsistencies, the standout being how did he pay the rent for his lodging? It was made clear to the boy that he only had diamonds.
To me, this is still the finest science fiction film ever made, just edging the 1953 version of War of the Worlds, Forbidden Planet and When Worlds Collide. None of the modern day films come even close.
'This Island Earth' was pretty good, except for the goofy looking alien creature near the end. 'The Thing From Another World' was a suspense masterpiece. 'Invaders from Mars' was another great classic. So many memorable sci-fi flicks from the 1950s.
The scene at 18:00 is absolutely beautiful. They talk about how he could possibly live that long, how Alien medicine is more advanced - all while one hands the other a cigarette...

He is resurrected from the dead, and repeats his message, this time with a warning. He then ascends into the sky. His name is Carpenter.
Sound like any other story you know? The plot of the film was actually based on the story of Jesus.
@@alangrund5031😮wow
One of the BEST! Classic scify, few effects great story.
Brilliant film
So good to see it here. Thank you
We're happy to see YOU here, thank you :)
The physical quality of this film is great.
The sound is perfect
No real special effects, great sound and acting. 10 out of 10
The original has something intangible about it, it gives it greater focus. This is one of my top 10.
Not just a fifties Sci-Fi film,this is a film with morals🤔
Basically, Klaatu says that the federation of planets beyond Earth locked themselves into a jail. They gave up their autonomy to a race of powerful robots that dictate their moral behavior. -- Behave or be obliterated.
And if someone hacks the robots.........?
@@maharajjinkb7824not to dictate morals, but to uphold the morals the federation agreed upon without favoritism. Our United Nations was supposed to do this- intervene against any aggressor. Unfortunately, it just aligned the world’s countries with various members of the Security Council.
@@dmrr7739 You're right. The 'federation' downloaded their prime directives into the robot's brain. Even so, behavior is managed/controlled under a threat of serious consequences for getting out of line, including blowing up your planet.
No CGI. No over the top special effects. A masterpiece of clever storytelling, great acting and a worthwhile message.
I just love how Tom dsnt want to hear about Mr. Carpenter, but when he asked to have little Bobby show him around,Tom was like oh what a great idea!! Tom knew Mr.Carpenter about 30 seconds, but he was good with dumping the kid off in a heartbeat
Tom was a greedy, selfish jerk.
You could trust people with your kids then.
One of the best Sci Fi film of all time. Special effects were excellent for its time. No fancy computer generated special effects.
Also morale of this story is peace around the world. Now 2024 Earth is in trouble. We need you Klatu!
Great film, great message, great acting, one of my top10 films. Thanks for sharing.
Can't believe this is free on U Tube I'm excited I just happened to find it 😊 Thanks for the upload.
Glad you enjoy it!
@@tenaatv thanks general Cutler 😁
Much appreciated that whoever uploaded this, is awesome, I've only seen it a very very long time ago, it's an absolute classic, it's 1000 times better than the reboot
We are really glad you enjoyed watching it!
THANKS FOR THIS GREAT MOVIE.
I lost count of how many times I have watched this movie and will continue to watch it
Jag just tittats färdig filmen vilken fantastiskt den är. Tack jättemycket för visat och jag hoppas verkligen att det finns fler folk som fått möjligheten att se filmen. 🌸🙂🇸🇪
Love this my all time favourite sci-fi film ever. Thanks for posting this great classic ❤
Producer, Blaustein was worried that audiences might laugh at the robot when he first appeared in the film.
No. The robot was great. But it was the cinematography, the editing, and Herman's eerie background music that made the scene that much more powerful.
Our pleasure, glad you found us!
I was born not long after this movie was made but I've never been able to watch it until just now. This is the best sci-fi movie of all time. THANK YOU!!!!
I have heard many good thing about this movie but haven't been able to find it. It's pretty amazing.
been on UK tv many times over the years.
One of the very best sci-fi’s of the 50s.
I forgot how much I loved this movie! Sorry Keanu, but this one is way better. Thank you for having this movie here! ♥
One of the all time great sci fi movies!
A great sci fi movie of groundbreaking proportions, with a morel tale for humanity; 'Michael Rennie' sure made this 50's film a smash hit sensation.
ABSOLUTELY. -And the film’s Moral Message is as timely now, as it has EVER been.
One of the best Sci-Fi movies ever made!!!
Seventy three years later and the human race hasn't changed a bit.😢
It never will until Daniel 2:44; Isaiah 45:18. 🕊
Lol😂❤ true!!!
No, it's gone backwards.
Never will.
You are 💯 correct😢!!!!😮
One of the very best Sci-Fi films ever made. I can watch it over & over yet never get bored. Been a few years since I last watched the original. The Remake was pants in comparison
T.v. back when I was a kid played this on Saturday night at the movies. It just blew my young mind this movie and the thing ..keep watching the skies !! Billy grey father knows best..!
This movie with Forbidden Planet are the 2 best sci-fi movies of all time!
How right you are, my two favorite movies of all time. With my 2nd and 3rd. Robot🤖 of all time.
War of the Worlds is up there too!
Thanks!
Great old movie. And appropriate for the remainder of our time
Better than new version.
Thank YOU Cliff, glad you are here :)
Consistently rated the top sci-fi movie of all time
The profound message of peace we take from this wonderful timeless movie, is as pertinant now as ever
Always loved this movie 👍
I first watched this movie at the afternoon matinée when I was just a boy. Such a classic Sci-Fi movie in every sense of the word!!!😀
So many great SCI-FI movies from this era.
Way better than the remake, which turned the whole story upside down, it was about travelling into space and causing problems, nothing about environmental issues
Yup. To paraphrase what Klaatu said at the end: we really don't give a crap what you do with your own planet. But that's tinseltown for ya now days.
One thing in common with the old and the new version of this movie is that the US government casually (and contemptuously)
disregarded Klaatu's explicit request to speak to the UN's assembled representatives of all nations on earth.
I would say this one of THE best films of all time not just sci-fi
💯% agree
It's interesting how Klaatu's people operate the opposite of the United Federation of Planets' prime directive. They directly interfere. Surely, they had technology to communicate with all the governments without asking the US to organise a conference. Fab film.
>>Surely, they had technology to communicate with all the governments without asking the US to organise a conference.
I love this film so much. I get tears in my eyes from the opening theme.
Cool name! (I beliieve "O-neko" means "Honorable cat.")
Thats an awesome name for a cat ! I love it ....i named a cat of mine jonesey after the alien movie cat 😊
One of the best films ever made.
Great movie. Very dialogue driven and intelligent.
I loved the newsreader wearing a hat whilst reading the news. Never seen that before. 📺
Yea back in the day newspaper hats for the guys at the press old stuff
Elmer Davis, H. B. Kaltenborn and Drew Pearson were the Walter Cronkite, Huntley & Brinkley and Howard K. Smiths of their time.
Men wore hats in those days.
The grandfather of Sci-fi movies and one of the best movies ever. Even the special effects are still great. I never tire of watching this movie.
My all time favorite sci-fi movie… and it’s over 70 years old (1951) First saw it as a kid and the feelings I had then about it I still have now. Thank you for this treat
My favourite Sci-Fi of all time and a real treat to watch it again with great clarity, thanks for posting. Not many inconsistencies, the standout being how did he pay the rent for his lodging? It was made clear to the boy that he only had diamonds.
Just like getting into a time machine that takes me back to the many Saturday afternoons as a kid when I Enjoyed watching these not so old movies 👍👍
Exact same, here!
Brings back great memories of being a kid in the sixties. Only 6 or 7 channels, but Friday night's were fright night at the movies
I never get bored watching this film. Wonderful.😄👍
The day the Earth caught fire deserves a mention also.
@@maharajjinkb7824 The day of the triffids is also a great watch
Best sci-fi movie still since I first saw this movie in 1955.
@@paulhugo2180 1950s British sci fi -- I liked -
"X" The Unknown.
.. a radioactive blob monster movie, but well done.
The scene at 18:00 is absolutely beautiful. They talk about how he could possibly live that long, how Alien medicine is more advanced - all while one hands the other a cigarette...
I was thinking the exact same thing!!!
“My goodness!” Puff puff. 😤😮💨”How could he possibly be that old?” Cough, wheeze! “What do you suppose his secret is?” 🚬💨🚭
The Radar operator at the beginning was played by Guy Williams who appeared in the 1960s TV show "Lost in space" as John Robinson.
TENAA TV THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS 🙏
1. The Day the Earth Stood Still 2. Forbidden Planet 3. War of the Worlds MY FAVORITES IN THAT ORDER!!
Thank you for showing this, one of my all time favourite films.
We agree, thanks for watching!
Thank you for giving us this classic movie. I can watch it over and over and never get tired. This is one of the greatest movies on Extraterrestrials races.
What really impressed me was that soldier in the beginning, standing there with 40 tons of tank making that skidding turn just a few yards in front of him. Man doesn't even budge. Movie or not the guy had some big yayas.
Also it looks like the road has been hosed down with water to allow the tanks to slide.
i was thinking that myself that soldier stood so close to the tanks a right hander skidding turn balls of steel
@@soultraveller5027 I was thinking, 'Girls und Panzer didn't lie to me! You can drift a tank!'
@stainlesssteelfox1 I can confirm you can dift a tank, especially a british scorpion light tank
I love this movie. Just now found it on UA-cam. This is why I am loyal to UA-cam .
This great movie never gets old watched it many, many time
Excellent to see back on U tube
Far better than the remake
I cannot thank you enough for this movie. I watched it many years ago with my family when I was very young and it left a very positive impression on my life.
This is a good print, probably the best definition I've ever seen this movie in.
a big hearty thank you for this timeless science fiction film. After so long I watched this gem with my sister and we were blown away with this film depicting a message of hope and peace.
Beautifully CLEAN, Restored copy with a stable and steady, Noise-free picture and hiss-free sound. Even the Audio-Mix is heard in Stereo. Well done. 👍👍
... AND IS IN B&W, WOW !
Sci-Fi at it's beginning and at it's very best! This film was years ahead of it's time. This movie's message carries the same weight today as it did then in view of threat of Nuclear War between Russia and the USA.
Downloaded immediately! Please upload "Forbidden Planet"!
One of the all time great American SiFi films . Beautiful print . It was a joy to see it again . This was the precursor to " Close Encounters of the 3rd kind "
One of my top three sci-fi films of my childhood! The other two are Them and Forbidden Planet.
I'm 73 I have lost track of how many times I have watched this. The special FX of today started with movies like this without the use of computers.
Saw this when it first came out ,now seen it 3 times over the years ~ what a great voice Michael Rennie had.
