Agree completely! As a beginner, I want to learn as you go. All the compressed or short tips are more for intermediate or advanced artists. I really don''t learn much from them.

I agree -- I subscribed to watch your videos in their entirety -- and those shallow beings who merely surf in and then out don't appreciate (and thus don't deserve) your attention. Cheers!

Stuart, you are one of the few artists on youtube I always watch from beginning to end! Most of the others. I just fast forward through them (they take sooo long to get to the point!). Then when they finally do, they go high speed and pass right through the stuff I want to watch! I truly love your self deprecating sense of humor, too! Methinks you are too humble at times...thank you for your videos!

Wow, Stuart. I LOVE the way you teach, the way you encourage, your generosity, attention to detail in the little things that actually do enter into an artists head...like: “if you have these lines you don’t like, Don’t panic and keep brushing” or “pay attention to the lines as you go and look for unexpected lines or shapes that you want to keep, don’t just keep sweeping away”. Very important insights that are lacking in other tutorials.

I enjoy the longer videos because I get hints from your conversation as I watch your brush work. There are times when i have to leave to walk the dog or whatever, but I save the video so that I can come back and listen as I watch. I've learned a great deal since i started watching your videos and applying your ideas to my own work. I've just begun painting, and I'm working with Acrylics because it dries quickly and is easy to work with using only water. BUT I've still learned so much of technique and attitude. Thank you so very much for each/all of your videos on You Tube.

I watch the video, a thought comes to me, I stop, write my thought, continue watching, etc. until I reach the end of the video and finally the entire comment. I still prefer long videos, because 8-10 minutes is still a very short time, so I enjoy long videos. Those who quickly jump in and out are just ordinary internet surfers. It's just so amazing how the clouds come to life when they swipe and they become so real. It's absolutely fantastic how the texture comes out in the landscape with a few strokes. Just as there is charm in simplicity, so is this landscape. Oh, how wonderful, thank you so much!

To be honest sir.... The time doesn't matter matey. It's all about the enjoyment on behalf of both parties. I personally watch all of your videos from start to finish. Usually more than once or twice. The first time to be amazed and for pure enjoyment and the subsequent times for trying to absorb the knowledge casually delivered in a very special and unique way. You are a fantastic teacher. Thank you for what you do as it is priceless.

I love your long format. And listening to you while I work on my own art. Your voice puts me in a zen state…

I don't care how loooong you videos are! It's riveting to listen and watch. You wave your arm and a distant hill appears, another wave and a storm cloud forms...it's pure magic: call me crazy, but I always get excited when the crumpled paper comes out to play!!!
Anyway, I'm an ''I've started so I'll finish'' kind of girl so just be you and paint as long, short, big, small as your heart and mood dictates. Thank you for everything you do! 👍👍👍

I had a professor who always said "the indication of detail is more powerful than actual detail." That always stuck with me as being rather profound, and I've thought that what he was getting at has to do with what you were talking about here: that our brains simplify what we see and try to make sense of the compressed information. So there's no point in painting every branch and leaf on a tree because nobody's going to see that you painted every one by hand unless they're silly enough to try to look for it. In my opinion, all the most powerful art I've ever seen, regardless of medium, seems to understand this and is as simple as possible while still being very clear as to what the subject is. You seem to understand this very well and it's one of the reasons why I love your paintings, but is even more why I love to watch you paint.

well said, You bless us with not only Your talents on canvas but with Your gift to teach as well...I gave no mind to the duration of the video, it is as it will be and those whom take the time, the contents, the offering for granted can go grab a coloring book and some crayons..maybe eat some glue and sniff some markers lol thank you Stuart, much obliged

Never too long. The content is riveting. If some people are only watching 8 - 10 minutes, they are not your people.

Hi Stuart. I have just found your channel and really loved your video on how to paint clouds. Can’t wait to try your way of painting them. Your explanations are also great and clear. Please keep your long videos so I can paint along with you. Looking forward to seeing more. Take care.

It is always enjoyable and informative to watch you paint Stuart and I don't even paint yet myself. I will eventually but for now I enjoy watching someone more experienced and knowledgeable. You are one of those people who has some ability to teach others and to give clear instructions for anyone to follow along with but you do it with your own style and not Bob Ross, even though I can see what they are getting at.
Thank you for the videos, I usually watch them right before bed because I find them relaxing hehe.

I like to learn. I can't learn anything worth while in 10 minutes. I like that you started painting with out explaining before starting.

More detail work i can see the better! I am a visual learner and someone literally has to hold my hand for me to get it. So if you show a painting step by step i learn better. thank you for sharing your skills and time.

I like your real-time paintings from start to finish. I also like you repeating important tips to us. It may take 10 times of hearing something before it clicks. So keep posting these videos and keep talking even if you constantly repeat yourself. It really helps.

I’m crazy for your painting! The style allows my imagination to see details, without-as you say-being fiddly. Your commentary is loaded with morsels like, “Clouds as usual off the edge,” that I’m greedily gobbling up. As a novice I’m filled with the excitement of hope that I too can do this! Thank you so much.
