Yeah I agree something about a carpeted van. Love the idea of hiding those clips and also tidying up the holes in that metal work. Step Dad should be very proud. 🤘
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment Bud. There is just something about them isn't there! Hidden fixings look so much better! He loves it!
Mini series like these Dan will help develop the channel..daily content although loads of work seems a successful tactic on other channels 8 follow.. have a great Christmas
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment Mark, So glad you are enjoying the channel. Daily content was a killer! So much work to do it. I was up until about 1 am most nights finishing video's off! Was a lot of fun though! Hope you had a good Christmas bud.
Loving these spin off episodes. The gti episodes of late you seem a little beat but hopefully with doing something different for a week this will boost you for getting back to the gti. Keep up the good work👍
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment Duncan. I will be totally honest. The lack of views on the Golf is making me want to do a few other things too! I need other content to hopefully stop the channel from going stale.
@@DanChambersDAC just do a mad crazy old skool Max power build of a vw caddy? There’s a Facebook group called max power reunion that is hopefully happening next year. Be good to watch you build something for that
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment Jeff. Yes I have been looking into all of the possibilities. This one was just a simple cheap carpet line job.
New subscriber Dan and enjoyed the mini series, after selling my t5.1 and now buying a Caddy thanks for the carpeting and soundproofing guide, definitely tackling soon, cheers
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment Bud. I did think 'Ohh I can get a couple of weeks out of this' but then thought 'Sod it, Get it all up in one week!' Helps with Decembers ad revenue!!! Glad it has inspired you!
Looks nearly the same as my Caddy, with the exception that mine has a hard floor with rubber sheeting to stop any loads moving. I agree, there is something sweet about a carpeted van! 😜
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment John. Isn't there just! If he was likely to carry much I would have probably opted for the rubber floor but i prefer the carpet so much!
Hi mate, have you don a bit of coach building in the past? I was a coach builder b4 i became a full time carer for my disabled wife. You've done a great job there mate, i would av probly put a bit of ally trim on the step edge but like you say can sort that later if it becomes a problem. Wish I'd got to use some of that 4 way carpet, my boss was too tight to buy it we had to use the cord type carpet with little stretch in it so more cutting and joining. Hopefully I'll be converting a t5 for myself in the future so will be investing in the 4 way. Great job mate, keep up the good work. Great job on the golf too!
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment Bud. No, Never done coach building as a profession. Done a hand full of van's over the years though. Hopefully the step will be OK but with it being my Step Dad's van we can keep an eye on it. The 4 way carpet is brilliant! Awesome bud! you will really enjoy it!
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment Michael. Yes helped him out with the brackets. Trying to come up with a concept to do together too.
Another Ace video. You answered a question that I had. I have just bought a Caddy Maxi, it will be used for personal transport and also for carrying bicycles around. I want to carpet it as you have done, but would need to have some protection for the single skin panels against bikes causing dents. The way you carpeted the sliding door is the additional protection that I would need for the side panels too. Thanks for posting, love the presentation style 👊🏻👍
God only knows why this video came up in my feed, so - I'm new to this channel. What an impressive amount of work you've put into this project. It really has turned out to be a very lovely car. There is, however, one thing I don't get: I get why you sound deaden the car, but if the car itself isn't going to be used as a campervan, why then put so much insulation in it? That, to me, seems to be overkill. There seems to be no point in it, then ... But apart from that, it really has become a very desirable car. If I had the chance, I would buy it ;o) Beautiful work, Mate!
Thank you I did it this way to show the process on here to help people out. as the bulkhead is removed the heater has to work a lot harder to heat up a much bigger space so the insulation will help to keep the interior warm during the winter.
My my part 4 😆 Haven’t watched it yet along with 2+3 but saw this and had to comment! obviously a bigger job than initially thought or just enjoying doing something else than the golf for a bit?? I’m sure your stepdad will be chuffed to bits with it. Nice one Dan 👍🏻
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment Rhodri. I wanted to film every day to show what was done each day. it did turn into a bigger project as I was only tidying the rear to start with but then I got carried away! He is really happy with it all!
The soldering iron trick is from episode 3 if you’re looking but I’d strongly recommend starting at the beginning and work your way through the series. Superb videos and a wealth of experience being shared.
Your videos are so helpful. thanks. Is there another trick for hiding clips as dont have access to a soldering iron. Top man. Thanks again. Carpet for my caddy coming tomorrow. Smoke grey. starting the weekend.
Suggestion... you coulda taken the ply out and use it as a template, leave excess where you need it, but the tricky bit around the wheel wells would have been a doddle. Nice job.
Yes, Yes I could have🤦♂️ I got all excited and fixed the ply down then remembered I needed to cut the carpet to shape.... Thank you so much for watching and for the comment.
Loved the t5 project and now the Caddy. Though I do watch the golf, I really would like another van done? Transit or sprinter! Anyway great job and keep it up.

Commenting before finished watching and sorry if someone’s already asked. Why not just lay the board on top of carpet and mark it and cut leaving a small excess? Love the series. More guest spots needed lol

Awesome video, nicely put together. I'm assuming the panel you cut out for the upper side loading door (which you drilled in using screws), can be done for the back of the van as well? Maybe could put a very thin layer of foam in between for insulation?
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment Bud. Yes I think it will eventually but we will see how it get's on without first. Such a simple but effective way of tidying the holes!
Dan, loving the videos, planning on carpeting out my caddy to a better standard than the previous set up in there when I bought it, where did you get the carpet and how much did you order please?
Good work mate... Just curious if there was a reason why you didn't carpet the bare metal of the 3 doors? Any plans to "black out" the interior plastics up front?
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment Dan. It is difficult to get a decent edge to the carpet on the metal if the doors as there isn't an edge to finish to the carpet just stops. None on this project. This was to just make the van a little more driveable.
What was the purpose of using the hidden clips for the side panels instead of the fir tree clips? Is i just because you can fit them after carpeting? I was thinking to just use fir tree clips everywhere and just carpet over them
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment bud. Just search eBay for '8mm Fir Tree Trim Clips' Dude and find the colour you need. I buy Dark Grey.
great result! I would put the bulkhead back in for some peace of mind, or else you would need to secure everything that you load in the back, even just a bag of groceries would be dangerous back there
