Did you follow my recipe for soaking the fruits? There is no chance for more rum while soaking if you have followed the recipe

Use same quantity wine and half quantity orange juice for this recipe. If using orange juice soak only for 2-3 days

Only if you had avoided that Tutti frutti. spoils the whole thing in an original fruit soaking. Tutti frutti is a shortcut method used by mass bakers and now mass home bakers to save some money and takes away the joy from a good fruit cake.
The quantity of tutti Fruti isn’t too much in the cake. If you don’t like please avoid and use any other dried fruit instead
