While Ableton might seem daunting at first, it's pretty easy once you get used to the basic layout and I think you'll be fine without any one on one training. I recommend just taking it slow and follow tutorials like this one whenever you get stuck. Try recording a guitar like in this video, then try recording vocals with a mic. Then if your audio interface has multiple inputs, try recording both at the same time. Take things one step at a time and you'll be fine. Forums and social media groups dedicated to Ableton are also a great source of help when you get stuck with something. That's how I learned to use Ableton.
Thanks for this Aaron. Iv'e used FL Studio in the past and starting on a new DAW can be a bit daunting but this video has got me sold to try out Ableton Thanks buddy.
Just got a 4i4 Focusrite for my birthday, Being 71 last week, my patience level with technology is low and had considered throwing the unit out of the window, however, you have saved the day and I am now up and running and smiling. My wife would like to thank you also and I look forward to viewing your other videos. Thank you very much
Unbelievably useful, I was just about to throw my Focusrite through the window. Thank you, so easy to follow (just read previous comment, I'm 60, it seems our generation throw things out of the window).
I couldn't make anything work using other videos. This was the best yet and I was able to record guitar immediately, even intuitively able to add a second and third track; Thank you so much..
Thank you, I bought Ableton without ever using it and I was going crazy, thanks to your clear explanation I kept it and I'm still trying to like it, great job.
GOD BLESS YOU!!! i've been ransacking the internet for a way to be able to hear my electric guitar through my computer speakers for hours, my head aches and i have trouble breathing from the frustration. and your video is the first that mentions a way. i just burst into tears. thank you so much. i might sound dramatic but you have no idea what this means to me. you have a faithful subscriber. 💙
another tip when putting stock ableton amp on your recordings is to have a cabinet with it too. they designed it in a way that you'd have the amp and cab together. great video nonetheless, very informative and to the point.
THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! I have an assignment due in my Ableton class and it NEEDS guitars. I have everything together, but I just keep hearing this guitar part in my head I have to add... And now I can! THANK YOU!!!!
Oh sod! While I was typing my long winded comment UA-cam went onto the next video and wiped it out. Yes! Very helpful. Yes! Make more. The concise, just go straight to the topic without waffle is much appreciated.
I had everything setup and did record my guitar but could not hear it on playback. Within 2 min of watching this, I realized my issue. You explained it so well!!!
Without knowing the details of your setup, the speaker output and the headphone output will likely be seen by Ableton as two different output options, so you'll probably need to play around with the routing options to use your headphones or switch back and forth.
Wow, this tutorial is great! I have Ableton and BIAS FX2 Elite. I have been trying to record my guitar but could not make the effects work; now I know why! Thank you very much for creating this video!
You are the only one who Solves my problem after two long days! Uffffff! Ableton they don’t even reply me! However after I downloaded ASIO4all immediately works! So thank you so much May Jesus bless you abundantly
@@AaronMatthies hi I started to recording but I couldn’t heard when I played back either Monitor or headphones?? could you please tell me What I have to do! Thank you and appreciate
Re-check your ASIO4ALL settings to make sure only one output is enabled. Then check your audio monitoring settings to make sure you have monitoring turned on. The guide explains things differently than the video, so you might want to read through that: guitargearfinder.com/guides/record-guitar-in-ableton/
4:57 it's plugged in and it's not green. What have I done wrong. I have a scarlett solo plugged into my pc and the guitar jack into the solo and my guitar.
absolutely priceless, nicely detailed, thank you for making this videos, it's been many videos without finding someone wanting to go into details. nice job!
Very nice tutorial, thank you so much. Something I wanted to mention (in case it helps anyone else) has to do with some excessive feedback coming from somewhere. My Gretsch is plugged into my interface, connected to my laptop, and I figured out that by disconnecting the laptop power cable, this greatly reduces the feedback. I think it has something to do with the grounding, and maybe the single coil pickup in my guitar.
Thanks for posting. That really helped me I was getting frustrated that I couldn’t hear the recorded part, didn’t realise monitoring had to be off. I’d like to add some drum loops to recorded guitar but whilst when I click on a drum pattern I hear it through my speakers when I drag them to a midi track I have to play the kit (keys on Mac or midi keyboard) I just want the pattern as the sample sounds. I’m at ground zero here as you can tell. Perhaps future Ableton videos you may consider adding simple drum loops to a guitar part? I can’t see any drum loops in Ableton and I have the full version. I’m sure it’s just me getting the hang of it though. Keep up the good work. Thanks again.
Glad you found it helpful. It can be frustrating learning how to use a DAW like Ableton. There are so many features crammed in that it's frustrating when something just doesn't seem to work. I'll keep drum loops in mind for future videos. You'll get the hang of it.
Thank you so much, my Scarlett 2i2 sounds great on Albeton Live. It was popping and cutting out like crazy on Studio One. You saved me some money and a lot of frustration.
This was perfect! I'm a long time FL user and i recently bought a midi foot pedal. to my dismay, the midi usage in fl is... lacking, to say the least, so i figured i'd try out ableton. Love it so far! glad i can record again (: you made it really easy
The best tutorial video on you tube. Thank you so much. You are an amazing teacher. Every step clearly explained and walk around for any problems that may occur. My Novation mini launchpad and m-audio interface are about to arrive today and abbleton live 11 lite key comes with it. New subscriber. Off to watch all your other videos now! 👍
Hi Aaron, I am new to Ableton Live world. Mind to give a bit torch? I noticed from your video 5:41, below In-Auto-Off button there is Master. But in my case, it is not displaying Master, instead it is saying No Output. What could be wrong of my setup? I'm using Fractal FM3 as my Audio Interface. I can hear my guitar sound, but when I press Record button, there is nothing being recorded.
