I would like to play a song from say a Metallica video on UA-cam and jam with it, will I be able to hear the monitor speakers and pc speakers together?

Sounds like you are having a routing issue. Is your backing track output on Master? Is your Master bus routed to output 1/2? Are you using input 1 or 2 on your audio interface and what are you recording?
Matthew, I am having a very similar problem. I have set up Abelton live as directed and I am running a focusrite Scarlett solo but when I record vocals and play it back it is only coming through my left ear. Any suggestions?
@@tayiha.official Hello. When recording vocals make sure you only have the input selected that has the microphone. Example: Input 1. If you have input 1/2 selected you will record both inputs in a stereo track. So in the audio channel select Audio From > Ext. In > 1. Again, if you select 1/2 here you will record a stereo channel and only hear the audio coming out of the left channel (into your left ear). Make sure your outputs are Master Out > 1/2.

Hey Matt. Just subscribed to your channel. I'm just starting off on my DAW and musical journey, but I thought I'd ask for the sake of trying to understand a bit more and if anyone else questions this also. : )
Hello. I think it is more important to understand that on Windows you need to use ASIO drivers for the most part. Most brand name interfaces make their own drivers for Windows. Best to use those. MAC is a bit different because MAC uses core audio. So a lot of audio interfaces are class compliant and you do not need to install driver a lot of the time for MAC.

Matt. Got a question? With the new 2.7 update, they have it where you can use your MPC in standalone in conjunction with Ableton Live. Shouldn’t I be able to send the audio from Ableton into my MPC seeing that there is a built in interface?
I don't know. I haven't installed 2.7. The audio interface only works in controller mode. So as long as the ableton controller works while the mpc is in controller mode it should work. You would just need to use the mpc live as a vst plug in.
Disconnect Focusrite and uninstall the drivers. Reinstall the drivers and then check? Bottom of taskbar right click open sound settings output check to see is Focusrite is there? If your computer sees it then Ableton should see it and this is for anyone else that might have this problem in case you solved it?

Like why in particular we have to use different ones for different computers. I hope that makes sense.
@@sk69to96 I think understanding the sample rate, bit depth and buffer size is what is important. You don't need to know programming or anything like that. Check out this quick read on all of these things: support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115004120965-Sample-Rate-Bit-Depth-Buffer-Size-Explained
@@MatthewStratton Thanks so much!
When you sing into the mic with a background track how does one shoot the video?
I have USB headphones, how do I listen to what I'm playing and record at the same time?
You listen without the headphones
MR.videogames and how do you suppose I do that?
@@TheMageLord Get speakers or something. Or worst case scenario listen to it after you record. USB headphones won't do much
Awesome dude, very helpfull!!
Glad it helped!
My interface still isn't showing up when i select the asio bracket
thanku so much sir your video was very useful
All the best

Hi....I have a problem, the ableton don't reconice my focusrite and I dont now why...I need help please...hi from Chile, Latinoamérica
@@darrenhirst9900 reinstall the drivers is the solution👍🏻👍🏻
@@tesla6400 Just trying to help but that's the only thing you can do.
Windows updates can mess with audio drivers and I've had that happen a few times.
Appreciate your videos.
@@darrenhirst9900 That is the solution, it has been almost a year since it happened to me for the first time and so far I have done it like 3 times
@@tesla6400 Could be windows updates that mess with the drivers as its done it to me a few time's.
Glad you got it sorted.
Thanks Matthew! good video :)
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment :)
I've got the audio tab showing me signals through my microphone but I can't hear anything with my headphones I have both plugged into a presonus audiobox usb96 I've downloaded asio/universal control/ and still nothing I have no speakers its so frustrating. Does anyone have a idea?
How to connect 2 audio interface (for more inputs) to Ableton Live?
So I have a brand new Scarlett mic plugged into my Scarlett solo interface which is plugged into my windows 10pc 64bit, I also have my head phones plugged into the interface as well. I’m having trouble getting my mic to pick up any noise at all. It’s seems no matter how I set it up I can’t get sound and I can’t find any videos explaining this topic if anyone could give me some tips thanks
Do you have the 48V button activated? If it is the mic that comes in the Studio kits you need to activate your phantom power with the 48V button.
Thanks gonna watch all your video ........
