Primitive Life at the Survival Shelter (episode 12)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 лип 2024
- Primitive life is arduous and exhausting, especially when working hard to upgrade the living accommodations from a simple survival shelter to eventually a comfortable adobe hut. Every task requires patience and effort, and the weather can often hinder one’s efforts. In this case, the threat of rain causes me more trouble and slows down the process of making bricks. This series will be ongoing so be sure to stay tuned for the next video.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
Who films you?
Me. I travel alone, shoot, edit, upload, everything, all alone. On a few occasions I may be accompanied by a friend.
How many cameras do you use?
Usually I use just one camera. When I have underwater scenes then I also use a GoPro camera. I get different angles by moving the camera around and repeating the action to create a more cinematic viewing experience for the audience.
Where is this place?
In order to protect the integrity of the natural landscape I prefer to be very vague about the locations I use. There are places that I used to visit that were so beautiful and untouched but the consequences of social media brought all kinds of people to visit and sadly some people do not respect nature and have badly damaged these places. Therefore I do not share locations.
Where did you get your sandals?
I first started wearing sandals on outdoor adventures in February 2014. I’m so glad that I did because wearing these Luna Sandals has really helped strengthen my feet. You can see their selection of adventure and running sandals at this link: www.lunasandals.com/?rfsn=102...
(Note: I receive an affiliate commission from any sales derived from clicking on the link above)
Do you workout?
Yes, I workout, but not in a gym. I have some weights that I use and also do a lot of bodyweight exercises. I also run and sometimes swim. I hike frequently to collect wild foods and to shoot these videos so I'm very active all the time.
Are you vegan or vegetarian?
I wish I could maintain my health on a primal diet that does not include animals but unfortunately that did not work well and I ended up with health problems as a result of those attempts. From my studies, observations of nature, and personal experience I have come to believe that the best diet for optimal human health is a primal diet (paleo).
Do you get lonely when you’re alone?
No, I don’t get lonely. I’m actually so busy shooting video, taking photos and doing so many other things like making cordage, cooking, weaving, etc. that I really don’t have time to think about my lonely condition. Sometimes when something profound happens on an adventure I can’t wait to share it with people, but other than that I do not get lonely.
How many languages do you speak?
My first language is English but I also speak fluent Spanish and Portuguese. I also speak very little Russian. I may soon begin learning more languages.
How old are you?
I was born in 1972. At the time of this video I was 48.
Where did you get the music in your videos?
This series is the first one that I am making all the music myself. I recently made a drum and maracas (rumba shaker). I am now using them to create the intro and ending music in my videos, but before in the past I have used royalty free music from several sources including UA-cam. Sometimes I bought the music but usually it was free. - Навчання та стиль
Sorry for the delay... I had a tough week. Now I'm getting back on track.
Discúlpame por tardar tanto... Fue una semana difícil. Ahora estoy en marcha de nuevo.
I'm curious did u get that body from what you do. Or you trained so you could make your life a lot easier?
It's ok. That's me, from Ukraine ;)
Of course I know that UA-cam does not forgive and punish delays so generously, but please do not stress yourself. We - the viewers - will always accompany you on your adventure, which you should be able to experience without stress.
You have to bake the bricks
Was waiting everyday for your video bro finally its here 🥰🥰🥰
people going ro space but cannot build their own shelter 😂😂😂😂, you are a tiger
Hahahah
Building a shelter on Earth is not the same as building a shelter in space. Just as surviving in a desert is completely different than surviving in a snowy tundra.
@Mc Kyle Dodongo ....Does god like watermelon?
funny. this channel put a lot of life into perspective for me.
This experience puts a lot into perspective for me too.
That place is so beautiful and you are crazy talented...not sure what is more impressive, camera skills, building abilities, knowledge of literature...ya got it all kid! 😉
Thank you so much! I really do appreciate you noticing the great amount of work that goes into these videos.
I love this contend. Keep up the good work and make that shelter!
Yes sir!!!
The next installment drops....bliss, time for me to relax, escape and take it all in. Thanks Chad
Enjoy!!
Laying in bed in the dark watching. Silence. Chad starts wacking earth with a rock.
Husband: Are you watching Chad Zuber!?
Me: uh-huh.
Husband: Is it a new one?!
Me: uh-huh.
Husband: frantically clambering for his phone on the dark.
Thank you for the upload Chad, we have now satisfied our craving for Primal Tendencies.
Hahahaha! That's great! Thanks!
Juniper is my absolute favorite bow wood. As it's age commands the highest respect and care during building.
But there is no other wood that can compare to the tight grain orientation, distinct heartwood and sapwood. And the final polish that this respected elder turns into.
Simply beautiful, wise, soft, delicate and quiet....
I know full well that you Olney take what you absolutely must.
keep in mind that juniper can easily live past 1000 years old. It takes at least 70 years to grow to a fist diameter size.
If it disappears, it will never come back.....
Please remember to respect this sacred species.
I love juniper. Most of the bark that I collect is from dead or dying juniper trees that are very old. I am also experimenting with making a juniper bow. Do you have any tips?
@@ChadZuberAdventures absolutely, you found the right guy! I don't know how much experience with self bows you have but...
Q the most important thing is you must back it with rawhide or sinew or something hard.
Because of the tiny growth rings it must be backed before any stress is put on it. ( Stringing and Tillering) Or it will simply break.
Juniper has quite good compression strength and no tension strength.
A sinew backed will perform quicker.
Be careful with the string notches, you want to slightly oversize them to prevent checking.
I would also add a strike plate to your arrow rest to prevent the arrow scratching the riser. I last used a green wing teal head skin for this.
My record weight is 92 lbs at 27 inches. Juniper is very capable wood.
If you are on Facebook, I'll look you up and send a request. My name is ryley kreger.
And I'll send you a few photos of my favorites and current projects.
Another idea for your bricks is to set them on a platform of wood logs or sticks, enough to get them off the ground. That will keep them drier from ground moisture as well as allow for more air flow between the bricks.
That would work once they are dry enough to not be dented by the logs.
Yeah it is a pretty retarded idea if you ask me, cause if it rained at all all the weight would press down on the bottom ones causing them to mold around the logs.
i can already tell this is gonna be an awesome one..
"It is essential that I take a nap in the middle of the day to help recover from physical exhaustion." I feel bad because I know what he means but I probably don't deserve one 😅
Hahahah! Naps are great! I totally recommend them.
If you need one, you deserve one.
Thia is better than any Netflix show.
Great video again. You are starting to have a nice pile of bricks. And what a beautiful place. You are the only channel where I take the time to type a comment to show my appreciation.
Thanks, I appreciate it. Yes, I've almost got enough bricks to start building. Slowly but surely.
Love the content man! You've inspired me to try and live a primitive lifestyle, and learn more about primitive survival and technology :)
Best to you. Always be humble and exercise caution.
Just wanna get out of the city for a while and living in the nature like this :)
What about the wild fires?
Still gotta file your taxes while you’re out in nature lol
Jesus that's cringe omg please stop with the cringe smiley face
Me gustan tus vídeos porque dan paz y sosiego.
La que se encuentra en medio del desierto, que también es obra De Dios.
Gracias Chad
Best regards
Muchas gracias Joaquín!
I love watching this videos after my 7 to 16 shift. He's is living the dream.
Thanks
Looks like the start of a fishing net to me. We got to see it several times. Hope it works when it's done.
Thank you for sharing! 👍👍👍❤
8:25 "I found that it is easier to dig with a sharp-pointed rock". That's an incredibly essential thought for human kind. It's a little bit like witnessing on video how humanity entered the early stone age 3 million years ago. Maybe you will build some stone tools and later even search for copper and then iron ore :-) Best regards and thank you for sharing your amazing journey with us.
Very elementary thinking, huh? I imagine early man was more advanced than I am but at sometime in history I imagine that our ancestors went through the same mental processes.
It's always a pleasure to watch your videos when you are fascinated and excited for someone else s adventures .
This was so awesome. Cheers, Chad! ✌️
Amen. I’m ready to see the new shelter.
Doesn't matter, take your time, anyway the more we wait better it is
Awesome episode as always. Can't wait for the building process.
Me too! I can't wait to build the hut!
Take care of yourself and your beautiful family. You are honestly teaching us how to slow down and experience nature.
I'm trying. Thank you!
Awesome! Like always) Chad you are the best)
Respect for You Mister and all who helping You.

I'm glad you like it
The sound of bass that was emitted while you were digging was awesome. Great acoustics! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video,, aroma from heaven.
This is awesome Chad
You remind me of an old Calvin and Hobbes comic, where Calvin says he wants to be a caveman when he grows up. You're proving his parents wrong.
Hahaha! I don't think I read that one.
This man is hardcore. Mad respect.
I love this guy, he makes these so well and I’m hooked instantly. It’s so relaxing to watch
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy
I am in awe of your knowledge, your abilities to live off the land and your perseverance. I applaud you Chad.
Thank you Tracy. I'm learning.

Like your lifestyle. Cleiton from 🇧🇷
Olá Cleiton!
As with a lot of folks here, I waited and finally got to watch another episode of Primal Tendencies. As with all good things, I wished the video was longer. But I am grateful to have watched all 14:49 of it that was offered. Much appreciation and many thanks Chad for all the effort. By the way I wore my Luna sandals watching this 😉😂
I am sorry that it is taking so long to make these videos. I'm still working alone and have to do all the shooting and editing and this place is far away and the weather has been tough too. But it will get better, especially when the weather cools a little and I have enough bricks to begin construction.
another awesome works..🤗🤗🤗,..
I really like this videos, waiting for the next episodes 💖
Thank you!
Un genio, me encanta esta serie jaja. no puedo esperar para ver el siguiente.
Yes! I been waiting (not so patiently) for your next upload lol. I love these videos my dude 😁. Keep up the great work!
Sorry for the delay! Enjoy!
Super video part 13❤️❤️
That little pop surprised me, too. It's always something, and you gotta adapt to handle it.
Chad, you should weave a mat from juniper bark and put it over top of the bricks, sorta like a tarp so they don’t get as wet in the rain
it is time-consuming, better to add more bark on the roof in case of heavy rain.
I know, I intend to make that. Just a matter of time. There is so much else to do too.
Best videos on earth no cap
Otro gran video, felicitaciones 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Gracias!
me encantan estos videos no me pierdo ninguno, y sobretodo el como avanzas con el tiempo, capitulo tras capitulo

Thank you for your video! I'm sorry you've had a hard week, I'm grateful it's here!
I wondered whether it would be worthwhile making a juniper "tarpaulin" to cover your bricks? I worry with you about the rain!
I'll be trying different things. Just have so much to do.
Hey Chad, your content is awesome! If you ever need a pause from making videos to take care of life and business dont worry about us. 😁👍🏻
Thanks! Yes, I do take a short pause now and then to tend to family and other business.

Did UA-cam ask Mr. Zuber to put on long pants as to “cover up”? This is against Natural Law - beautiful things should be seen as to inspire our Humanity, whereas ugly things should be covered. Mr. Zuber’s body is a most beautiful thing on UA-cam and should be appreciated by all of us at all times !!!
Hhahaha! No, UA-cam did not make such a request. I made this decision to wear pants for warmth and to protect my legs from thorny brush.
@@ChadZuberAdventures Thank you so much !!!

Yes! Congratulations!!!
Congrats on 2mill my friend you deserve it🥳
Thanks so much Logan!
Hello Chad. So beautifull a nature experince with you and relaxing. Love to se you buyilding your new adobe hut. Cannot wait for it. Beautifull place. But still I think that some of the weuwes of nature could be of longer time, so that it is to enjoy more. not just clip clip clip with few sekunds betwen. ( I hope you under stand me. I am not good at English.) Pia-Meriam
Survival is one of those skills which is honed and refined over time. You're doing an awesome job at it and I'm sure, as with all of us who do this, you are constantly learning something new. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos and even though I'm fairly competent with my skills, I am always striving for more knowledge. Desert/dry land survival is in a league of its own. Keep up the good work, strive for more, improve your skills and never give up!
Thank you so much Justin! You are 100% correct! The learning never stops. I will never consider myself an expert. I am far from an expert. There is just so much to learn. Just have to keep on going. Best to you!
@@ChadZuberAdventures It's like that quote from Bruce Lee "Absorb what is useful, discard what is useless and add what is specifically your own". I didn't know about the quote until last year but it is definitely applicable to survival.
Yes, that is a great quote!
I love your videos but they are so peaceful that I almost always have trouble staying awake.
