The funny thing is he wasn't even joking when he said it, he's said before that he legitimately came up with everything in his head when out biking right before he got married. He even recorded the original glockenspiel-sounding intro on a keyboard he had at his house and had most of it fully written by himself while I believe being late for his wedding, which is kinda funny when you think about it
The chorus where Matt breaks down everything (piano, vocal, backing guitar) would be an incredible remix. A slight "acoustic" feel if the whole song was like that

@@jayklly did you not watch this? Zacky mentioned having to learn lots of material after they wrote multiple songs on the computer...
@@deminybs That is probably due to the fact that Zacky wasnt the one playing most parts in the studio, Syn did them so he had to learn them after the songs were made
@@deminybs Syn Writes most of the duo harmony and solo parts, as well as plays them on the album. So in the live setting Zacky has to play them since there isn't 2 Syn Gates, which means he has to learn them. Zacky is also the rhythm guitarist so soloing isn't his strong point, makes it more challenging to learn these parts.
The way these videos are produced is amazing. The attention to detail with songs dropping in and out of the background etc is just perfect. Massive plaudits to the editing team etc

As a producer this is one of the best things I can watch. I get to see exactly how the ones who inspired me at a young age, make music.
I really enjoy those breakdowns, they're a rare opportunity of discovering these tiny details that make an incredible song. And I was especially looking forward to the "Nightmare" one, truly the best metal song in my opinion!

These breakdowns are really both nostalgic and moving. The way they look back at Jimmy and their reminiscing of how fun it was recording and conjuring these iconic songs during their rise.
The chorus with just the vocals, piano and texture guitar sounds so good.

This song highlights every strength Matt's vocals have and completely stays on where he excels the most.
I’m so so glad I found this video. I came looking for a video of Portnoy playing iso drums, but was so happy to see that Matt isn’t the Dbag that I unfairly assumed he was. Holy shit what an awesome person! I will be addressing my judging of people in my next therapy session 🤦🏻♂️

This was the song that got me into your band and it’s sooo much cooler broken down and seeing all the intricate parts and the sections that just blend so well. This song is amazing

I also agree with Mat, Save Me, Buried Alive and Nightmare are awesome.
I like both melodic and screaming, and these 3 captures it all nicely. Each of these songs have strong lyrics, which makes them close to perfect.
I love how they pointed out some of the influences from other band's/artists in writing parts of the song.

@@jonanderson7509 I've seen the dvd multiple times and it has nothing to do with any breakdown they have uploaded.... In these breakdowns they focus on every instrument (in the dvd afterlife was based on syn's parts and in the orchestra...)

WOW !!! So that was a "non fancy bell timber", LOVE THAT !!! And right AFTER IT we have a VARIATION OF THE INTRO RIFF !!! Now I'm getting it !!! It was nice to heard how that ACCENTS with the SNARE appears at the INTRO ... the CONSTRAST ( you know, when it was mention about the vocal screams and clean vocals ) it was very interesting, was also cool that the PIANO wasn't left behind ( was forgotten ) IT IS SO COOL part of this song ... THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO !!!
