Self titled was very much Jimmy's album. Its amazing. Still an a7x fan to this day from Sounding the Seventh to now. They've changed a lot. I love their metal core stuff, I love their prog stuff, I love their hard rock stuff, all of it. They'll always be my favorite band of all time, no matter how they evolve.
Completely agree, mostly because jimmy's cause of death was a literal brompton cocktail, aka overdose due to a lethal alcohol & prescription drug mix. A lot of people say this song was him hinting at how he was gonna go out...
yeah i agree, this song is already fucking incredible but if they kept that it would be the cherry on top make a tiny bit more cooler even though its already pretty fucking cool haha
Matt wrote the lyrics for this. The rev wrote alot of the music. They even say Matt's lyrics were perfect for the groove of the song. But I think rather then him saying how he was going out it was a cry for help. As a former addict that's usually how it happens it's subtle and subliminal at first
wow. My eyes are even more opened with how much of a loss the passing away of the Rev was. he wasn't just family and the drummer, but the mastermind behind multiple songs of this album. Especially A Little Piece of Heaven.. how a drummer portrays this vision in his mind that seems nuts (especially attempting different instruments) and next thing you know, dozens are behind him, bringing in a friggen choir and orchestras. Sure sucks that he is gone.. but I still can't wait for the next album.
+Braydon Jones The Rev is my inspiration, because of him I started playing drums, I'll bet Hail to King would be better if he was a part of it. I Miss him so much.
+PepsiMax Tbh, I don't think Avenged would've done Hail to the King if the Rev was still around. Unless the Rev himself also wanted to do a classic which was what Hail to the King is suppose.
The whisper for Brompton Cocktail, that The Rev was doing, they should've kept that. I mean, I love the song, but I wish they kept the whisper records.
he knew he would die before the age of 30 as he was born with an enlarged heart, that was one of the things he told Syn's dad when he was 15, that he would die before 30 and become a rock star. He knew that the pain of dying from his heart would be horrible so he took it into his own hands. I'd give anything though if it could have been that he never had this problem and that he could have lived his full life.
DaronMalakian15 yeah I noticed something was wrong when he was talking about his insides hurting. I'm genuinely distraught even more so after watching this.. But simultaneously taken back by the immense talent he possessed.. N no one can fuck with him on that triple time to boot. Rock in peace rev
So depressing to think the Rev has passed because the guy was a mastermind at writing songs most A7x classics he wrote. It must be difficult for them to come up with great songs over and over without him
its crazy how much effort they put into every single song and it pays off on the final record too. also, shanna crooks is the most animated singer ever

I’ve been a die hard Metallica fan since I was probably 10 years old. I’m 34 now. But yeah I’ve always loved how they were so different. They weren’t afraid of doing what they wanted. I feel Avenged Sevenfold is the “new” Metallica. Not saying they are copying them or ANYTHING like that. I’m saying they are willing to go outside the box!! Love it!
I agree with you! All the classic pioneer metal bands are still the flag bearers because nobody has come along since to pick up the flag! Except Avenged Sevenfold! I truly believe they are the lone band that is carrying the torch of the originals like Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, etc, that are creating music that is as important to the genre, and songs that are going to stand the test of time and stand out as classic rock/metal the way that the aforementioned pioneers of the genre did!

I just watched this 3 times in a row... 😂 I always had a great appreciation for Avenged Sevenfold and this pushed me forward... I love watching videos with the Rev ripping shit up... this is probably one of my favorite albums by Avenged Sevenfold with my favorite songs being Little Piece Of Heaven, Dear God, Gunslinger (I also love listening to there heavier songs but this album just had a great variety that I haven't heard anywhere else before) foREVer

Man I really can't help but feel every song the Rev wrote kinda had a dark and sad vibe dealing with mistakes and death.
