These breakdown episodes show how incredibly they've grown and evolved as a band. The fact that they can look back upon their past work and publicly dissect everything, is an incredible feat coz most artists don't want to share these intricacies and small details related to their work which bring forth their minor flaws which we, being A7X fans, tend to ignore.
@@nolanw4030 the kind of flaws that critics or music reviewers point out. Honestly, I'm a layman when it comes to music, I don't understand details about notes, tempo, etc, I just listen to their songs and love it.
I get where you’re coming from but any actual musician understands Avenged is extremely talented. Not just with their instruments but the way they construct songs is done really well.
Well, they have matured musically, but we dont have to forget that in City of Evil they already showed deep melodic awareness, lots of guitar and vocal harmonies... Its a truly complex album at a compositional and production level, snd they've kept going forward from there. What i mean is that they've always been incredibly talented. Brian is a clear example. Really good starting point, but now he is like a god of guitar lol (he always kind of was, you get the point) And the music critics, well, most of them dont even know how to play a music instrument with any degree of competence. They have sharp language and usually an understanding of the social/cultural context of a certain music piece, but rarely they are even musicians in the first place. I mean, most of the reviews that i've read (in Spain at least) never jugde a musical work for its intrinsic musical terms and value. TLDR: AS are an awesome band, and i couldnt care less sbout critics, really
Nightmare the album and the song are both musical masterpieces it’s amazing how music like this is even written it beautiful and is forgotten these days sadly
Listening to the Die again part at 2:30 makes a lot of lyrical sense because of the song being about a nightmare. In a nightmare sometimes you feel like you’re going to die and then when you go back to sleep you feel like you’re going to die again. Definitely a kinda funny line to think about but it makes sense and still fits.
I think nightmare ist my all time favorite record. It's all over perfect. It goes from being black hole heavy to wonderfully orchestrated, peacefull, calm music. It's a masterpiece.
These videos make me realise how involved and passionate Matt is with the songwriting, he's the driving force of the band. This series is amazing- pls do Fiction next!
This song is so perfect in so many ways. One of my favorite songs of all time, can't get sick of it. Nightmare is the best way to start a Monday morning 😎
At this point I'm just really thankfull for Avenged. You guys give us so much, it isn't just music. Till this day you keep bringing joy to my life and I really love you all for it ♡
I don't think they have the masters for the Pinkly Smooth album. Syn has said a couple times he would remaster the album if he could locate the masters for the songs.
I love how they are down to earth and can laugh at themselves but also recognize they totally had a banger on their hands. Also, love that Matt points out where Jimmy is in the recordings with a bit of awe and reverence. Unfortunately, I was not a big fan when he was alive to have seen him play. But, listening retrospectively, he was clearly and musical genius and from the interviews just an outstanding and one of a kind human. Sorry for the bands loss and wish we had more years to enjoy his musical inspiration and wittiness. Maybe on the other side! Just a spoonful of Jimmy makes the whole world go down!
I know all these cats are incredibly talented but to me it seems like M Shadows has that amazing gift of creativity and understanding of music, the Rev did as well. Again, this is certainly not to take from any other of the band members, they are all incredible!!!
I remember watching years ago videos here on UA-cam of separate tracks of their songs, like only vocals or only vocal harmonies/drum tracks/ lead guitars, etc and to now see them go over their songs like these series is beyond awesome and cool to watch as a musician and makes me appreciate the final results even more. Keep 'em coming :)
That’s why a lot of bands are hesitant to fully explain their lyrics. Things like that happen, where someone might really connect and relate to a line and the lyricist is like “We thought it was funny, so we kept it.” Lol Music is subjective, though. It’s art, it can be interpreted in different ways even if it’s not what the artist originally intended.
Same, here. I always really liked the second "die again" and thought it was like this deeper meaning of dying or something. It still is that for me, lol.
Have so many awesome songs by City of Evil to be a breakdown episode.. Like M.I.A., Sidewinder, Strenght of The World, Blinded In Chains, The Wicked End, Betrayed, Bat Country, Seize The Day (when they make a ballad breakdown) and also Trashed And Scattered!
Doing these breakdowns is fuckin amazing. Having the input from you guys on what was going on during the recording as well as having you solo certain parts so that parts that you "hear" but don't necessarily "notice" is fantastic (it's also great to hear the little hidden funnies in the songs as well :) ). Gives such a new perspective and appreciation for the songs you guys do this for! Bloody brilliant!!! Thanks guys, really appreciate it!
