Awesome job. I'm a woodworker by trade and I would've been tempted to make a walnut or curly maple handle. Love how you saved the original.

The 1990s, after the reign of terror of academic vandalism, will be a decade of restoration: restoration of meaning, value, beauty, pleasure, and emotion to art and restoration of art to its audience.
It always aggravated me how people who don’t really know much about restorations and just watch it for the satisfaction of seeing it being restored fall head over heels for people who are obviously faking restorations.
I was kinda sceptic about all that ''WW1'' stuff, because the damage wasn't so horrible, but when I saw the logo I emediately knew that this wasn't a WW1 knife. I just wanted to watch the video till the end and then write a 1000 page novel about how this isn't a WW1 knife, but you explained everything in the video.......it made me laugh so hard because of the irony. Great video, I definetely loved it and I will definetely check more of your vids out.
Thanks for the information. Great video. My dad picked up a knife of this same size and shape back in the 60s. It was marked "Solingen" on the blade, and had a blue bakelite handle. He would have a friend sharpen it before deer season, and it would stay sharp for a very long time, even after field dressing and skinning a few deer. I need to dig around in my garage and see if I can find it. Thanks, again.
i know the style of knife you are talking about. I refurbished one for a friend 6 months ago. Solingen from Germany were reputed for their high quality of knife steels from that era. Great little knives, sharpen it up and definitely keep it if you can find it.
I've thought about doing a fake video and then revealing at the end how it is done but you beat me to it. Great video as always. I watch yours all the way through and I let the commercials run so you get full credit.
Hi you had me going from jump. I like to watch restoration videos just because I do. I am 72...so much of the time younger folks don't appreciate the time honored tradition of handmade. Everything now days is manufactured from plastic and dog hair with no value whatsoever. I have to admit you are quite an accomplished actor! When you let go with a disappointed sigh when the wooden handle came apart...I did too, lol. Thanks for all you do to keep history around. Fakers?? My question is, would you want to be lied to? A Texas Gal !!!
Fake or not, the handle restoration took a lot of effort and you did use the original wood. The final product looked great. That wood is worth every bit of effort you spent on saving it on REAL knives. I wish more restorers would try to reuse the original handle materials. Great Job, fake or not!!!
Thank You as I watched I was thinking the whole time "oh not this guy too, tell me he isn't doing fake restos too" well done!!! and cool touch on the handle.
💥 Thanks for making us aware of fake restoration videos. A little disappointed that people would actually do this. Great vid Justin! Keep on tractoring! 👍
Phenomenal! You had all of us . My only questioning thought was "Wow ! l bought one of these back when Hoffritz Cutlery was still in business the 60's . I had no idea the design was that old ! " Now quote us a price on the green rust removing snake oil . Reel 'em in while they're still biting . 😁👍
Always asked myself why the rust in the objects "restored" in those videos looks the same. Here's my answer. As always, amazing video. Congratulations. A big HI from Brazil.
I had a ? If u put a color dye mixed with the glue would that make the glue loose its strength. Cuz it might have been cool if you would have put hey black or green color glue
Nice video. Knife looks amazing. Love the super glue filler. Shared it to my Facebook....would have done instagram but I didn’t see a way to share it on there.
Shared on Facebook. Ive often thought the rust on a lot of restoration videos looked suspicious. Kinda hurt my heart when you busted that nice handle, but using CA glue as crack filler is pretty slick
theres one guy who i thought might be fake but he does all the electrical including making his own new copper windings for the motors.. his work was so accurate i sub'd.. also for what its worth im not on Social Media but told all my buddies who are into real resto projects to watch the video.
Interesting, I didn't know people were faking restoration videos. I will have to go back and watch some of them again. Thanks for this video I look forward to seeing more of them. I shared this video on Fakebook (facebook)
Can you tell me what brand that snake oil was? I have a sword of a knight templar passed down through his family after he died of rickets and I want to do the restoration right.
I was puzzled by the chemical and didn't pause it to look. I thought why doesn't he use evaporust.. The whole tone of the vid was weird and a lot of close up you don't usually do. That fill-in was bad! but I lasted to the end to see I was punked! Always thought those "lighter" videos were bad. If you look them up on-line you these "old" new ones for sale. On one video was a link to Amazon for the lighter! Don't do the socials but love your videos. Thanks for exposé!
I was seriously questioning what the CRAP you were thinking using super glue to fill that. YES, thick CA can fill something like that, but thick CA has a very strong tendency to basically shatter with some time and exposure to changes in temperature and humidity. I have a large number of exceedingly thick CA finishes where I was learning how to embed cigar labels that looked GREAT for about a year before the CA spiderweb cracked like crazy. I've learned some painful lessons.

finally someone who preserves the originality of the wood.

Why do I find these video's so relaxing to watch?
Настоящий рестовратор реставрирует всё,ничего не меняя.Браво!
I really love the knife. I don't care it has a fake story. I'm sharing it also. Beautiful craftsmanship none the less.
Just saw Homemade Everything’s newest video and all I can say is you guys need to hurry and get the tractor done as quick as possible.
The trench knife restoration historians don’t want you to see! Awesome as always. Sent this to my friends.
+Caleb Burnett Ha! Best comment ever!!!
Very well done, very inspiring too,
There is much more gratification in doing that than just buying a brand new knife!ty

You must be insane, haggis.
I've thought about doing a fake video and then revealing at the end how it is done but you beat me to it. Great video as always. I watch yours all the way through and I let the commercials run so you get full credit.
i know I am late to the party but that is just a cool little knife! Especially for the $10 purchase price.

Fake restorations suck so bad!!! Putting it on Facebook!!! Love your channel, keep it man!

+john fletcher These are the tough choices. Thanks brother.
복원은 원래것으로 그대로 보수 하는것이 기술이죠 역시 손재주가 탁월하네요 옛것을 새것처럼 하는것도 좋지만 있는그대로 최소한으로 하는것 또한 멋집니다 👍
Brilliant ! 😊
