It's not exactly inexpensive, but, yes, compared to the tens of thousands it used to cost, we're really lucky to be benefitting from what is really a revolution in filmmaking gear.
Is it a step-down ring that you have to attach the ND filter with? If I put a 77mm - 95mm adapter ring (for the attachment of the mattebox), what adapter ring ( to put on top of the 77-95 ring) would I need to put a 82mm ND filter on there? Is it needed for the additional adapter ring for the ND filter attachment?
Looking forward to seeing how this progresses, as I'm building my own Z6 rig. I'm looking at a v-mount battery to power both ninja and camera, but have heard it's not a good idea to connect external power through the battery compartment, but use the USB instead. Would be interested in your thoughts, if this is something you're looking at also.
Thanks for the question. AFAIK, the Z6 can't be powered via USB. Spoiler alert: I'm using one of the many third-party dummy batteries available for the job, plugged into V-mount. Hope to have the video completed this week.
@@joshuameadows4165 Hmm, you are correct, just researched this as I'm about to buy the next pieces for my rig. Interesting howe the Z6ii works though. Cheers!
Even with the Z6ii, which can be powered via external USB power bank, it still draws a small portion from the internal battery making long video shoots or all day shoots quite difficult. In the end, the dummy battery concept still provides the most dependable power solution if you need to run the camera for extended periods of time. Note: most dummy batteries for the Z6 will not work with the new z6ii as they don't include the embedded micro-chip. The Nikon version Dummy battery/Charger/power bank by Kimaru is one the few we tested that actually works with both versions consistently.
It still amazes me how you can shoot high quality films with a fairly affordable set-up like this. Nice clear explanation Ray.

Thanks for the video Ray. Keep it up.
You bet
And now we know how your videos look and sound so good!
Thanks Christian ... but don't give all the credit to my gear! 😀
@@RaymondParkerPhoto hahahahahahaha! 🤣
waiting for the next episode
thanks for the video, Raymond! really informative
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the question. If I understand your question, simply add the 77-95 for the matte box and then a 77-82 for the ND.

My understanding is on the z6 you want to use a dummy battery. It is not designed for USB charging in camera. Z5, z6ii, z7ii is a different story

What is for matte box? I thinking that should I have it. I got z50 and record videos in my carage.
It's a lens shade/filter holder. See affiliate link in Description should you decide to buy.
Just for us dummies, what's the matt box for? Is it just to shade the lens?
A matte box is used to shade lenses and hold filters.
