Spoilers for Laku Mungo ahead Lake Mungo is unironically one of my favourite horror movies, and I have seen a ton of them. I think what makes it so scary is that it shows a family getting a glimpse into the life of a lost child, only to realise that her life for her last few months on earth was horrific. That she had so many secrets she was hiding from them, such a terrible burden to carry, and had had such a terrifying encounter with the supernatural, and had no way to communicate to them about it. She was suffering in silence, knowing she would die a horrible death soon, and there was nothing anybody could do for her. Imagine being a parent, losing a child, and then finding out that your child was going through something horrific and you never even knew about it. That in their most vulnerable moments, you couldn't be there for them. That they were waiting for death, scared and alone. Now that, I think, is terrifying.
It sounds like you described a drama film with a sad ending that disturbed you. I thought a horror movie was meant to make you feel scared, startled, or worried about the unknown, unexpected thing that might kill you.
@@timparker533 What I described to you here, to me, is genuinely one of the scariest things I can imagine. No man in a mask with a knife could ever compare. I that doesn't count as horror to you, that's fine, but to me that's the purest kind of horror
Highly suggest Climax for anybody who’s ever tried lsd or a lot of mushrooms even. No paranormal stuff, no (direct) killer. Just a spiked punch bowl That movie gave me anxiety for the entirety of the buildup. No jump scares either. Tough to explain why it’s scary without going to into depth but it’s in my top 10
I loved that film. It reminded me so much of _mother!_ one of my favorite horror films of all time in how it perfectly replicates anxiety for me. Except Climax is a realistic kind of horror. The fact that we never see anyone's hallucinations makes it even scarier and more real.
I remember watching possum on a random day with my brother and dad and being totally freaked out, the build up to that scene where the puppet is just looking at the screen was so crazy
Dude, whoever is telling you you’re doing bad with your videos can keep that to themselves. I love these videos, and as a horror fan, you’re hitting all the good ones. Please keep up the good work!
Lake Mungo, I can’t imagine anyone finding anything scary, frightening, or disturbing by this movie. I kept close attention to it because you talked it up so much and while watching wasn’t impressed but assumed a big reveal would arrive causing me to rethink the film. It didn’t. This film closely resembles those cable tv ghost story reenactment shows with all the same wooden, bad acting. Maybe I’ve seen too many movies or lived through actual trauma to even detect anything startling in this boring film. Absolute waste of time. Please, can anyone share what it was that scared you in this film?
The responses you gave to those complaints is exactly what just made me subscribe to your channel. This is literally the first video I've ever seen on your channel and yet less than 90 seconds and I'm already subscribed because of how you responded to the unreasonable complaints. "You're not professional!" "It's my channel. Dont like it? Piss off, then"
Lake Mungo made me look behind me when putting my keys in my door every night for weeks. THAT scene was definitely the reason for that. I still have to actively try not to think about it haha. Trying to be vague here, but also the family being wrong at the end and leaving is heartbreaking to me.
omg don’t worry about the haters! i love how you’ve been doing these videos and that’s what makes it unique. if people can’t understand that, there are other creators that do a great job at doing that. don’t change zeark 😝💪

It feels unique like you’re not just echoing shit other people say if that makes sense. It’s all your own thoughts
Lake Mungo isn't even a horror movie. It's a mystery documentary. SPOILERS First two halves of the movie are pretty slow. Then it gets even slower once we find out the son faked the ghost footage. Though the ghost is still real? There's a jump scare at the end that isn't really scary but rather more mysterious than anything. Mysterious as in why was she able to see her future ghost. The movie is pretty dull for majority of the time. Characters don't show much emotion and talk in monotone the entire time. Also the plot doesn't go anywhere really. We have Alice the girl that dies, they find her body, they see ghost footage, son says he faked the footage, that footage reveals the secret that she has with a neighbor, that secret led them to Lake Mungo, and then they find out she saw her own ghost, the end. Don't expect answers at all. That's why I think this is more of a mystery than horror. Movie is also not scary at all. But also I don't get scared easily so maybe that's why. This movie had the feeling of those scary documentaries I would watch as a kid on Discovery Channel. But even those are scarier than this.
Lake Mungo is still one of my favorite horror movies ever. I didn't find it that scary necessarily, but it was definitely creepy and had a very oppressive sad feeling. I think most people didn't like it because it is one of the slowest "slow burn" movies ever, but I think that really plays well into it's documentary format. The end is also just the icing on the cake where things have been slowly building right up until the last second of the credits. So glad I've been seeing a lot more people recognize Lake Mungo for being incredible.
I know you said it’s not going to be a regular occurrence, but watching you discuss the film is far more engaging than the gifs. Makes the video feel more personal and coherent.
I paused and watched the Lake Mungo movie before you even got to the spoiler alert part. I honestly thought it was going to be 100x scarier lol. When it ended, I was kinda like "that's it??". I don't know if ghost movies just don't do it for me or what. I did like the little twist at the end. But overall I think the movie was a 4/10. I can see how people would like it, though.
@@flash980 I actually fell asleep the first attempt, woke up and restarted it just in case I was too tired and missed some stuff. Haha. It seems like a story that would have been better as an actual movie, and not a fake documentary.

I find the idea of a horror killer using both physical and psychological powers to be intriguing, scary, and balanced compared to one with only one of them.
Lake mungo wasn’t as scary as it was depressing the way the movie depicted Alice as being completely alone and isolated in life and afterlife was so sad.
0:02 bro been yapping for a century at this point what is this channel. Smh my head. But in seriousness, the movie selection in this video are really great. Starting off with Lake Mungo really left me waiting to see the rest of the films that could follow off of just that.

One thing I enjoy about your perspectives on these films is how real you are like your statement about arthouse films, saying they're not for everyone unlike other filmgoers who insult people who aren't fans of those movies, saying they're "simple minded" with a "short attention span" and "you didn't understand it" mindset that i've seen over and over, same goes for the other side.
Lake Mungo is one of my favourite movies. It stands on its own as a horror but it’s also so so sad. Really stays with you afterwards. Possum was a great concept, I just think they fumbled the ending. The puppet is fucking terrifying though
Dude you should really see another movie from de Argentinian director Damian Rugna. I've never seen Terrified but "when evil lurks" it's just a 10/10 for me. It doesn't use CGI like in terrified, it's all practical effects with a incredible make up. You'll probably gonna love the way that movie creates its own rules about all the supernatural creating a very original idea and consept. I really recomend it to anyone ready this
Possum was written and directed by Matthew Holness, the creator and lead actor of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, which is a mockumentary about a schlocky horror writer. It's only 6 episodes, and I highly recommend it. That shit had me in tears lmao.

So happy to see lake mungo here and im so glad you enjoyed it and got scared!!!! its my favorite found footage ever. maybe my favorite horror movie as well. the way its shot like an actual documentry is crazy. ive watched it like 4 times because i kept recommending it to everyone and had to watch it with them lol but it always sends chills down my spine. also for the spoiler part, i think adding a timestamp will work best, like "skip to 2:30 to avoid spoilers" and if people still complain then thats on them. im usually okay with spoilers but when something really catches my attention i can just skip that part... its not that hard they shouldnt complain 🤷
I actually love your movie reviews because they give me enough information to decide if I want to watch the movie but you give very little away about the movie, and the better you think the movie is the less you give away which is great because I prefer to go into a horror movie with as little info as possible. Plus, you're not super loud like some UA-camrs.
Loved this! I would say when it comes to the spoilers thing, I'd probably just do something similar to what you did here and give the spoiler-free review first, then follow it with a warning and as many spoilers as you want. I definitely wanna check out all these movies now!
Bro i watch/listen to your channel bc it feels like getting a recommendation from a friend. Forget being professional there's other channels that do that. Keep being you brother love ya vids.
dude your videos are so much better than so many “review” channels where so many act super pretentious and mystique
i just wanna be entertained and told what are some good scary movies and why they’re scary
Spoilers for Laku Mungo ahead
Lake Mungo is unironically one of my favourite horror movies, and I have seen a ton of them.
Just a spiked punch bowl
That movie gave me anxiety for the entirety of the buildup.
The fact that we never see anyone's hallucinations makes it even scarier and more real.
havent seen that one, but that description reminds me of mandy. such an artsy but utterly disturbing trip
@@dune6528 an artistic disturbing trip is exactly how I’d describe Climax and is the kind of description that’ll get me to watch Mandy
sean harris in possum is honestly one of the best performances i’ve seen in recent time he’s so so so incredible
I remember watching possum on a random day with my brother and dad and being totally freaked out, the build up to that scene where the puppet is just looking at the screen was so crazy
Glad to hear someone talk about Lake Mungo! It’s one of my favourite documentary style horrors.
tbh the "unprofessional" style is why I love your content
"You're not professional!"
"It's my channel. Dont like it? Piss off, then"
"When the Evil Lurks" is a great argentinian movie, by the same director of "Terrified", but much better.
remembering that scene from lake mungo still gets me the chills. The whole thing of being chase by your own decaying body just creeps me the fuck out
Glad you’re back! now i have more movie recommendations haha
Lake Mungo made me look behind me when putting my keys in my door every night for weeks. THAT scene was definitely the reason for that. I still have to actively try not to think about it haha. Trying to be vague here, but also the family being wrong at the end and leaving is heartbreaking to me.
Me too!!!
omg don’t worry about the haters! i love how you’ve been doing these videos and that’s what makes it unique. if people can’t
understand that, there are other creators that do a great job at doing that. don’t change zeark 😝💪
People who complain about spoilers these movies have been out for a while don’t get pissed cause you got “spoiled” what did you expect
Saying a movie has been out forever as an excuse for a spoiler is so stupid. But yeah watching these videos and not expecting spoilers is also stupid.
Do you have ANY idea how many movies have been out for a while? Do you expect people to have seen all of humanity's filmography?
The way you describe things and your way of speaking as though you’re talking to friends is literally the appeal of your channel! It’s why I love your vids dude! These people don’t know wtf they’re talking about. Your stuff is great ❤ it’s actually really refreshing not hearing people use the same words in the same ways to describe movies. It feels unique like you’re not just echoing shit other people say if that makes sense. It’s all your own thoughts
Lake Mungo isn't even a horror movie. It's a mystery documentary.
SPOILERS
First two halves of the movie are pretty slow.
But even those are scarier than this.
bruh you my new horror plug. subscribed👌
I just watched Lake Mungo for the first time the other day. And I’m seeing Longlegs tonight…. I’m on a roll! Thank you Zeark
Saw lake Mungo the other night for this video, it didnt felt scary to me, just incredibly and utterly sad
Always a great day when zeark uploads , (also lake Mungo kept me up for nights and has me on edge when I'm home alone now 😭)
God, Lake Mungo was one of the few paranormal films that just shook me to my core. I think its the whole "spooky fake documentary" genre at its best.
I literally did the same thing and have the same thoughts.. movie wasn't scary at all
@@flash980 I actually fell asleep the first attempt, woke up and restarted it just in case I was too tired and missed some stuff. Haha. It seems like a story that would have been better as an actual movie, and not a fake documentary.
excactly felt like a huge waste of time bro gave me high hopes for that movie. genuinely dk how bro could lose sleep over that movie
Possum for me was a drama first but with horror elements. If anything it's depressing rather than scary.
I LAVA YOU AND YOUR WORK ZEARRKKKK!!!!!!!!!
I love Lake Mungo. I don't actually find it scary, but it makes me cry. Just sob. It's one of the best family tragedies I've seen.
YES MY GENUINE FAVORITE UA-camR PLEASE NEVER STOP MAKING CONTENT. me and my friend watch all the horror movies you recommend and we love all of it. Thank you!!! ❤
Lake mungo is still the scariest I don’t know why, I’ll never watch it again lol
I find the idea of a horror killer using both physical and psychological powers to be intriguing, scary, and balanced compared to one with only one of them.
Lake mungo wasn’t as scary as it was depressing the way the movie depicted Alice as being completely alone and isolated in life and afterlife was so sad.
Love the horror content bro🔥
Zeark keeps sacrificing his sleep for the channel 🙏🏼😭
i can’t believe you watched possum! it was such an interesting film, the puppet was something else when it first appeared
ive been watching your uploads! your the best
0:02 bro been yapping for a century at this point what is this channel. Smh my head. But in seriousness, the movie selection in this video are really great. Starting off with Lake Mungo really left me waiting to see the rest of the films that could follow off of just that.
Dude, I like your enthusiasm for everything horror. Be you, go with your gut, and love the content!
I prefer more of a synopsis about how made you feel and you can compare to, but no spoilers, do your thing at the end of the day is your channel! Great work, man
One thing I enjoy about your perspectives on these films is how real you are like your statement about arthouse films, saying they're not for everyone unlike other filmgoers who insult people who aren't fans of those movies, saying they're "simple minded" with a "short attention span" and "you didn't understand it" mindset that i've seen over and over, same goes for the other side.
babe wake up, new zeark vid dropped
thank god this channel is growing as much as it is I need more content like this
Your videos have inspired me to watch them and unlock new fears to face😌
Don't change for anyone, you have a whole community who absolutely adores your personality and your content
lake mungo doesn’t really creep me out but it just makes me so SAD.
Caveat? Most intense movie I've seen
Loved that movie
this guy keeps YT fresh,bc i remember in another video he said he doesnt script it,which is so cool
Lake Mungo is one of my favourite movies. It stands on its own as a horror but it’s also so so sad. Really stays with you afterwards.
Possum was a great concept, I just think they fumbled the ending. The puppet is fucking terrifying though
0:55
lovee your videos smm, ur like one of the few channels i consistently watch. i swear after 2018 or sum this app died. but glad i found you.
I really recomend it to anyone ready this
Lake Mungo is amazing. I'm a huge horror fan and this is the only movie that chilled me to the very core.
Possum was written and directed by Matthew Holness, the creator and lead actor of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, which is a mockumentary about a schlocky horror writer. It's only 6 episodes, and I highly recommend it. That shit had me in tears lmao.
it's load of fecal matter
I literally _just_ found out he directed Possum and was looking for a comment that mentioned it. Darkplace is easily one of the funniest things I’ve ever watched and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
I remember going to nebraska in a really bad mental state and i binged your vids while there, thank you for making content
I’m glad I could help in anyway, thank you so much for watching and always remember that you’re loved ❤️
Honestly caveat was like the best horror movies I've ever seen, you should watch it
