They should make it so that you can only break and salvage CM if you first strip the ship entirely or at least 90% of it. This way they don't need to worry and nerf the CM price since breaking the ship right away won't be an issue anymore, nor they will encounter the issue that we are now facing, that people are literally ignoring the breaking mechanic altogether, since it's not worth it at all. We also need an in game, real time monitor of the market, to know where to sell our RMC and CM. I imagine a stock market monitor within our mining, cargo and salvage ships that we can check at all times.
Or maybe just slow down the process of breaking the ship down by a factor of how much you stripped it first, so for an 80% strip you get the usual 15 seconds for breaking the ship down, while a 0% stripped ship would take 95 seconds for example. A 100% strip ensures a 7-8 seconds break down time maybe? I think this is a cool concept
Great video but the real secret to salvage is panels. RMC is so much more value than CM or weapons I completely skip both the latter. No need to spend money on the actual contracts either. Simply go to a Lagrange station and fly into the asteroid field. Narrow your scanner (in NAV - scan mode) to 75% and fly (avoiding asteroids) in a straight line, pinging [TAB] every few seconds. When you see an "unknown" marker ping it again and see if the Radar Signature is a multiple of 2000. If so then fly towards it but slow down as you get near. The marker will disappear and then there is a frustrating gap before the actual panels 'pop' in right in front of your ship (so go slow when the marker goes). You should be able to fill the cargo and the buffer with just two sets. That should be close to 375,000 aUEC per run, assuming you can actually sell it with all the people duping their cargo this patch.
I agree with your sentiment that it feels familiar yet new. As to the landing gear, at the bottom of "Flight - Movement" bind "Automatic Precision Mode - Disable". Once you hit this new bind you can fly at SCM with the gear down.

Totally agree about the Vulture cargo bay being too small. Like you I quite enjoy organising things in the space but having loose weapons or components in there is such a pain to organise that I just don't bother collecting them in the first place - which makes the whole experience less rich. If I were redesigning the ship I'd give it two cargo bays, one for the boxes of RMC and CM, and a separate smaller one where components could be thrown more haphazardly without interfering with the main grid.

20K for an Arrow salvage contract is too much, you're taking a loss or BARELY breaking even if you take your time with cinch and get every last drop of RMC off of it.
This is true. If you fracture the arrow you do lose money, they basically made salvage not worth playing anymore for the vulture. At least we’ll always have 3.22 and all it’s riches. 😢
I recommend the Atlas QT. It is perfect for the Vulture. With Salvages being all over the System now, instead of staying local, the Atlas does the job. I had the VL, but kept running out of fuel.
@21:36 You mention the reduced speed. There is a way of toggling it off. You should bind that action on the same keybind you have your landing gear keybind on.
I took the reclaimer I’ve had for a while but never used last night. It was really chill and zen doing it solo. I can imagine myself doing it while listening to an audiobook or music and just relaxing after work. Not in a rush to get to the endgame and be bored as a billionaire.
I just came across your channel for the first time and I have to say that I would really much like to see a series like that to see what the progression looks like for a given career path.

@@Farristeragree, was hoping the drake ironclad was going to be a medium salvager but yet another heavy hauler…seems medium size salvaging of crews around 2-3 is not a thing CIG is interested in. Maybe if you know someone going to a bar citizen or Citcon ask them to hit up a dev and ask if maybe that’s on the horizon at all ?
I love that idea, like a load of racks on the roof to store weapons, components, etc. They don't need to be plugged into anything other than a physical slot, so you can sell them planetside
Scraping feels a little wonky to me right now, mostly with the visuals. Even on DX11 I see weird areas glowing and spots that you can't visually scrape (RMC is gone but the hull visual is still there)
Really enjoyed this video. Quite the vibe. I've mainly been a mercenary but got myself a Vulture before the patch wipe so I've been interested in getting into salvaging.
I just completed my first 3.23 salvage run in the Cru-L5 La Grange.. 1 x Arrow mission ship and 2 x clusters of Panels for a total of 36 RMC giving a total payout of 519,000 aUEC.. Vulture salvage is still very much viable.
Great video as always 👍. A few suggestions. Don’t bother stripping the weapons. The RMC is worth more than 14k per SCU, som cram as many boxes as possible in the back. When you run out of space, keep scraping until your internal 13 SCU buffer is full. Now go and cash in and this should net you over 400k. Only slight issue is you can’t use the multitool in armistice zones. Not sure if this is a bug. If this happens you need to go outside armistice zone to stack the remaining 13 boxes and come back to sell it. o7.
I found in the bulture if you are flying in the Quantum nav mode then when u hit about 3.2k hold b to switch flight modes and take ur hands off the mouse and keyboard u pull right next to the ship u have to salvage
Thanks for showing the whole loop. great video and the paint is really stunning. I lost my vulture with the last wipe so I am really jealous trying to earn 1,2 Million before the next wipe in order to buy another one. Fells like being a handyman without tools haha
Another great video, a bit of a heads up for you, it probably won't be any better in 3.23.1as that patch mainly concerns itself with Invictus and related matters
A few things. Lover your videos first off. Very useful. Questions: What are Master Modes? How do you change paint? Where do you buy heads? I have been to about 8 stations and can't find heads or paints.
Thanks :) Master Modes - it's a new series of toggles recently introduced which modifies how your ship flies and what functions are available depending on what's selected. Changing Paints - done through F1 menu and vehicle maintenance, your paint and ship need to be in the same physical location Buying Heads - erkul.games is a great resource website for this! But Cousin Crows on Orison is one example
I tend to make one station a primary dump where every full Vulture will be unloaded at that spot and then using a C2 to haul it all to a spot of trade, the bother is the time for loading
With a pair of Cinch, you get about 1 SCU worth of RMC and then you get ~.75 SCU for construction mats. I am annoyed that Arrows are the only thing spawning for 1000 and 5000 contracts... For the landing gear slowdown, you just need to disable the auto precision mode (it's in the keybinds, under flight). I just bound it to the same button as my landing gear. CIG should really have an option in the game settings to disable auto-precision on landing gear. I wish we could bulk sell those weapons... I think the cargo grid is a tad buggy.
Came here at 3.24 to say construction material is now much more worth it. Break the hulls then store it up in your cargo Elevator until you get a full cargo ship load for example I do about 110-120 for my Freelancer max then sell it in bulk.
Play I know I'm late to this party so I hope that you still see this but honestly if you're doing a vulture the best thing to do is go to an asteroid belt scan for panels and strip them there's no cost for you and it's basically just free money it's roughly 500 k an hour scan for signals and anything divisible by 2000 are ship panels good luck!
Really well done video. Production values were through the roof and sound was immaculate. It had almost a found footage aspect to it and I found myself drawn in to the exploration aspects and wondering what would happen next. This had a genuine, real feal to it that made it a joy to watch and kept me from clicking away. Great work!
@@JaggedJack1 CMAT. RMC will be worth more but will take much longer to acquire. I think that’s how they’ve balanced it without requiring you to scrape before fracturing.
@@TiJayFLY I fully scraped a HH yesterday and got about 42 SCU of RMC. Filled up the remaining 198 SCU in the hopper with CMAT, and sold it all for a cool ~800k. Yeah, the scraping took a little while, but that's still 800k from a single hammerhead contract.
Great Vid as always Farrister!! This was also the first thing I did when I jumped back in. Word of advise for ALL your subscribers and you of course. DO NOT VENTURE TO ARC L4, it is TOTALLY BUGGED AND NO DOORS OR ASOPS ON THE STATION WORK.
Ive been running bunker missions in my vulture to avoid paying contract fees. If there is someones abandoned ship with the shields off, or a ramp open for me to turn them off. I salvage the ship. If the bunker didn't have any ships i just happily collect the 10K from clearing the bunker and move to the next one. I got 21 SCU (about 300k) in RMC from lucking out and finding a cutty black and C1 spirit at 2 bunkers i raided. All pure profit since i didnt have to pay a finders fee.
@@Moritz-dq8ps Not if you accepted a bunker mission. If you leave the mission alone and don't clear it, you keep your access to the area therefore not trespassing. Also as long as the ship is abandoned with no player, no one will be there to press charges and get you a crimestat.
@@LetsPlayBojangles what do you mean by press charges? had a longer break and just dived back in. u get the option to report a player now? so as long i am allowed to be there i can destroy other vehicles? interesting
@Moritz-dq8ps if another player damages your ship while you're close to it, you can accept or decline to charge them with a crime stat for vehicle destruction. Usually if a vehicle is left behind at a bunker it means they died and it's abandoned and the owner almost certainly isn't coming back for it because an insurance claim is way easier. Meaning you can salvage it without and negatives.
My salvage previous was, going solo on a reclaimer, get hercules ships and only get the construction materials, I usually made runs to fill every corner of the ship with construction boxes and sell it, also there was a mission that even pay you 250.000 I was able to run that same mission over and over until my cargo was completely full, on that day I was able to made around 4.000.000 :D Then I bought all the ships I wanted before the reset... Now I don't know, salvage business is missing something, I already did a lot but the bigger ship contracts for now they don't show up, salvage was nerfed heavily, both in the prices you pay to get the claim and the return values are lower... still it's a way to make money
How do you get both of the Scraper Beams to converge to a single spot. Mine are nowhere close to each other. And most of the time only one beam is contacting the ship I am scraping. I have used Left Alt + Mouse Wheel and it does Nothing At All. Also I have scraped several ships Completely and it still doesn't give me credit for scraping the ship. Are you using Gimbal Mode?
considering atm 1 box of RCM goes for about 14k I dont see the point in storing 8 big guns that go for 10k together when they take up the same amount of space as 2-4 boxes, you could get 30-60k worth of RCU instead in that space since the vulture is as you say not very big.
You could probably find a way to make more money for the time spent (say, quant mining) but salvaging is still good. And now with the server recovery you don't even lose contracts so easily when the server goes down.
Salvage is no longer viable as a one man operation, not with the current price of missions. Not even close to viable. However, with a couple buddies in fighters, you can still make a killing with just a Vulture. I had two friends soft death some large ships in a VHRT and i just sat there doing my salvage thing while they continued doing bounties. One of them came back with a cargo ship and took two full loads back for me. Together we made over a million that night. Not bad for a small investment of two fighters, a Vulture, and a C1
Salvage missions shouldn't even cost you money to take. The space government should be giving us scrap locations for free since we are cleaning up space for them. Nothing is worse for space travel than debris
I flew to the scarp yard on daymar yesterday and there was a dead AI starfarer and C2, later even a hammerhead just lying next to the scrap yard. Made like 800k with no effort.
It's not all about grinding money though, some people enjoy the salvage loop same as mining to just enjoy it. But purely for money grind you are right it's not worth it early on in the Vulture.
They should make it so that you can strap the guns you salvage onto the back deck above the door, it's got little rails that look like tiedown spots, just need some space rachet straps.
I enjoy this video. I also like that skin. I think i am going to look at getting it. It would be nice if you could buy a weapon rack to stack weapons efficiently. I also enjoy stacking boxes. I like the new star map also but there are some minor details I think could use improvement. Better direction to star ports would be nice and the search feature does not seem to be working for me. also, you can land on the planets surface and use the surface entrance so you don't have to ride the train. I am wondering if you have to build rep to get larger ship contracts like bounties.
Hey Farrister would you consider making a video for new people on the packages please ? My friend is getting it soon and would love to show.him your thoughts. A sort of aurora v mustang thing and the pros and cons
Anyone else having issues with changing the salvage modules? I bought a few abrades but it won't let me, it's actually stuck as empty so my vulture is completely useless right now. Changed in the menu just don't save.
420k per run in the Vulture if you strictly salvage panels. Didn't take long to get a couple mill. I love that they have options if you don't want to buy contracts.
@@scharrk You can get way more than 12 boxes in there, and also fill up the hopper before heading back. If it does not bug out. If it bugs out and says cargo full after selling you'll have to go to somewhere else to sell a second time, maybe a salvage yard. Or claim ship.
Master modes let's you stop super quick... If you're at top speed on nav mode then change to scm mode you'll stop immediately. I got 19gs in a Hull C stopping from full speed.
Salvaged that whole Arrow and didn't get even ONE crate of salvage. Since Arrow missions now cost 5000-20000, it means you'll need at least three of them to get one crate of material... which is worth around 13k. So, you'll spend 15k - 60k for the missions, and earn 13k from that. So, each mission will be a LOSS of 2k, at minimum.
@@Brandon-bd8fk relax pal, it's called feedback, and no there's not - at least not specifically targeted to the vulture. Been away from SC for a bit, and when I come back - Farrister's one of the first I go to, hence the suggestion.
"From zero" is wrong, but remember, that you can rent ships for a day and make more money than the rent cost so you can buy it. (also waiting for a freefly event + ship event can get you free rentables -> IAE)
It was taking me significantly longer to scrap the hull then what I see in this vid. It must have been a server thing. Next time I get a good server I'll have to try again.

I just came across your channel for the first time and I have to say that I would really much like to see a series like that to see what the progression looks like for a given career path.
really enjoy watching your videos. you have a great relaxed style. i like the fact that you speed up the boring bits. the balance is good for me. looking forward to the next one.
Dreaming of a salvage ship size between this and the Reclaimer
Yes please!
I have always liked salvaging. It is mindless, and relaxing, and good solo play.
They could add some ship weapon mounts for the vulture. Throw the guns on the roof instead of bouncing them around inside
I love that idea, like a load of racks on the roof to store weapons, components, etc. They don't need to be plugged into anything other than a physical slot, so you can sell them planetside
"Auto Precision Mode"! Set a keybind to toggle that each time you board your ship, and you won't be speed limited when landing anymore!
I don't mind it sometimes, though if you forget when taking off it's a bitch hahah
I always enjoy your chill gameplay sessions.
Question: Is it safe to quantum outside of your seat? Seem like a good time to do all the box organizing.
The panels are fantastic, I may show that on one of my next ones
Wow, this video come to me just in the right moment, thank you so much farrister💯💯💯🎉
If this happens you need to go outside armistice zone to stack the remaining 13 boxes and come back to sell it. o7.
Excellent video Farrister. Thanks!!
It is better to go for ship parts around lagrange points then doing mission... 4 big chunks will give you 40SCU of RMC..
Really, then what’s the point of buy a ship? I’m trying to save up to buy one and it’s such a pain.
17:20 prime example for liberator as a mother ship to transport the vulture lol
You are a hero keeping space tidy!
Another great video, a bit of a heads up for you, it probably won't be any better in 3.23.1as that patch mainly concerns itself with Invictus and related matters
I also use the same paint on my Vulture. I agree, it looks fantastic 👌
"Sorry, but that's the kind of person I am."
You're my kind of person, Farrister. ^^
o7
A few things. Lover your videos first off. Very useful. Questions: What are Master Modes? How do you change paint? Where do you buy heads? I have been to about 8 stations and can't find heads or paints.
Thanks :)
Master Modes - it's a new series of toggles recently introduced which modifies how your ship flies and what functions are available depending on what's selected.
Changing Paints - done through F1 menu and vehicle maintenance, your paint and ship need to be in the same physical location
Buying Heads - erkul.games is a great resource website for this! But Cousin Crows on Orison is one example
I tend to make one station a primary dump where every full Vulture will be unloaded at that spot and then using a C2 to haul it all to a spot of trade, the bother is the time for loading
Yeah, I can imagine!
Yay for CMs :)
20k for an arrow contract is daylight robbery. Who made that change???
They don’t want us salvaging anymore
Really well done video. Production values were through the roof and sound was immaculate. It had almost a found footage aspect to it and I found myself drawn in to the exploration aspects and wondering what would happen next. This had a genuine, real feal to it that made it a joy to watch and kept me from clicking away. Great work!
How are you not experiencing the hull scraping bug where the speed to scrape is twice as long?
Salvage is still king. Full Reclaimer (grid filled) is 400k, and fracturing is still very quick. No other gameloop currently comes close.
No game loop comes close? Okay. I hope everyone keeps thinking that's true. Lol
Reclaimer full of RMC, CMAT, or a mix of both?
@@JaggedJack1 CMAT. RMC will be worth more but will take much longer to acquire. I think that’s how they’ve balanced it without requiring you to scrape before fracturing.
@@IIITangentIII Trading and bounties haven’t changed - what’s your secret sauce? 😅
I'm glad you posted this I am really bummed about salvage in 3.23
Great Vid as always Farrister!!
All pure profit since i didnt have to pay a finders fee.
dont u get a crimestat if u salvage in the bunker area?
@@Moritz-dq8ps No, why? If you have accepted a bunker mission, you have lots of time to salvage and even complete the bunker afterwards if you like.
I used to organize the boxes while i am quantum jumping to destination
So Vulture still have the UI indicating the amount of cmats it's munching, but somehow Reclaimers don't have that anymore
I don't like that you lose your ship shields when you switch between flight modes. That doesn't make any sense to me.
This all seems to be trying to force more players into group play. Which is fine by me.
@@scharrk this is the other gameplay I want more of, just scanning and flying looking for wrecked ships
They should make it so that you can strap the guns you salvage onto the back deck above the door, it's got little rails that look like tiedown spots, just need some space rachet straps.
wher do you buy the abrade slavage heads??????
From one of the orbital stations - sadly I don't remember which!
@@Farrister basically all dumpers depot/platinum bays
What's the button to fracture again ? didn't play in a while
Question is the salvage laser/sucker lethal?
Take your vulture on bunker missions, so far since update there has always been at least 2 ships sat there from players who died
love the ui change and new graphic change settings.
What paint is this? I cant find it online. Such a nice paint.
There's no such thing as a tedious journey in SC. You can grab a drink and a snack. It's all part of the immersion. ☺
How ? If i sell a 12 scu of RMC i get like 136k
@@scharrk You can get way more than 12 boxes in there, and also fill up the hopper before heading back. If it does not bug out. If it bugs out and says cargo full after selling you'll have to go to somewhere else to sell a second time, maybe a salvage yard. Or claim ship.
where do you find the new ship part and how much is it?
still not sure why the reclaimer doesnt have bigger better hull scrapers.
I just wish the Vulture had at least a little more cargo area.
I know what you mean, and it kinda already does with the internal hopper!
Master modes let's you stop super quick...
If you're at top speed on nav mode then change to scm mode you'll stop immediately.
I got 19gs in a Hull C stopping from full speed.
Yup! I'm starting to get used to it now
Just a warning, loose guns in the back can blow up your ship. No idea if they fixed that but it's very common and usually nobody does it again.
how come some pilots seem to see the legit missions but not showing for me in 3.23
When repair feature allows, can you repair that arrow back to normal and fly it away?
if you have the components needed, probably XD
Th amount of material needs increased. It’s silly to get only a couple boxes after compressing a whole ship.
I love the Ice Breaker livery.
Still a good way to earn. I’m enjoying using the vulture. I need to break out the Prospector again. Been about 2 patches since I mined anything.
how much for the setup in game to do this ?
Well, it's not really start from 0. You already have kitted out Vulture.
I too enjoy playing box boy on a salvage mission
Vulture needs a roof rack for components and guns!
So, each mission will be a LOSS of 2k, at minimum.
aaaand another savage video from farrister
i mean salvage
i think this is funny, what grumpy smurf dislikes this ? lol
anyways, gimme more
Would like to see starting from ACTUAL zero - like without a ship so we know where to buy, outfit, etc...
There are tons of beginners guides out there just search for them
@@Brandon-bd8fk relax pal, it's called feedback, and no there's not - at least not specifically targeted to the vulture. Been away from SC for a bit, and when I come back - Farrister's one of the first I go to, hence the suggestion.
@@cuberille “relax pal” lol maybe you relax there baby girl
Did i miss the zero part ?
how does one get that paint???
Icebreak paint, it was a free gift for Luminalia (Christmas)
@@VoltKraken5555 oh okay. Thank you!
"From zero" has a vulture already. okay.
"From zero" is wrong, but remember, that you can rent ships for a day and make more money than the rent cost so you can buy it. (also waiting for a freefly event + ship event can get you free rentables -> IAE)
Rent the ship
It’s free to rent right now from Rikers on Arccorp
Why don't you bring with you both quantum drives and hot swap them?
And just after writing my comment, you parked your vulture on the skorpios, and I thought, is he going to take the quantum drive???
Is there still a chance to find rare boxes like gold or drugs
It was taking me significantly longer to scrap the hull then what I see in this vid. It must have been a server thing. Next time I get a good server I'll have to try again.
there's currently a bug with vulkan that messes with the scraping graphics making it super slow, so that's something to check
@@jaredrobinson5412 I was using vulkan. I'll try without vulkan, hopefully that helps. Thx for the info!
