      @@OverlandTrailer They are probably a bit simpler than the classic teardrop, which makes them very attractive to a DIY rookie like myself.

    We are starting the process of looking into building our own trailer. This video was helpful about the trailer, which I know nothing about.

    • @FunkeAdventures
      @FunkeAdventures  Рік тому

      Hey! Thanks for watching and for the question. I paid $1700 out the door for this frame, but it was also custom-made. You could definitely find a cheaper option with a prebuilt trailer.

    On bumpy roads and going off-roading, Wouldn't independent suspension like timbren or torsion, work better than the leaf springs?

    • @FunkeAdventures
      @FunkeAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Hey Dwayne, thanks for watching the video and subscribing! You are absolutely right. Independent suspension would be a lot nicer than the leaf springs. The leaf springs on my trailer are what the manufacture usually installs and I din't have the budget to upgrade them, but if I was getting real serious about off roading, I would probably want to upgrade the suspension. But up to this point, I haven't had much issue with the suspension that I have on there. Thanks again!

    If I were to buy a entry level trailer from harbor freight and added better tires would that help for longer trips?

    • @FunkeAdventures
      @FunkeAdventures  Рік тому

      You may want to dig into this topic a little more, but I would think that with bigger rims & tires and making sure that the tires are radial tires, you'd be ok on long road trips. As with any trailer, you'll want to make sure the maintenance on the trailer is up to snuff and that the axel has greased. But with general maintenance and radial tires, I don't see why that trailer couldn't hold up to longer trips.
