I'm so happy to have just found your channel and hope you continue making more videos. I'm older (60), short (5'), and wear a size 12/14. But what we've got in common is the short waisted-ness. I think you're the only content creator out there that addresses this very important aspect to have properly and comfortably fitting clothes. I'm lucky if I have 2" between the top of my hip and bottom of my ribs. I have very little non skeletal area where a waistband can comfortably sit. It's horrific to have nothing but high waists when it comes to pants/jeans. Even when they claim to be mid-rise or even low, they are not on me. All to say I'm enjoying your videos and your tips to look better.
Petite is short from nape to waist in back, whole body is short. When I wore size 18 it made me crazy that Plus size automatically got longer/taller as size gets wider. Who designed this crap? Look at human women who are the $$$$customers!!
I love your channel and was thrilled to find a channel dedicated to short torso women! I have a short torso and long legs. I am in my mid 50's and have always been thin but now that menopause has come pounding down my door I've gained weight. My question for you is my stomach now has a pooch, what can be done with this? It's a nightmare!
So pleased you are doing videos again, you give the Best UA-cam advice for Short waisted like myself😊 thank you and looking forward to your next one Jules.
I love that while you are suggesting how to be less square you are giving the reasons as to why your advice works and that can be used in reverse to get a more boxy look
Finally, someone who understands having little space between ribs and hips. I'm also on the busy side. What I can't figure out is why some jackets/blazers or button down shirts look stiff and BOXY on me, but others don't.
Great insights! Thank you! I am 5’0 and 110lbs and have a difficult time finding pants that fit and then getting the proportions right with shirts/sweaters. Before finding your channel I didn’t realize that my short torso area has been the missing link in understanding why some outfits never worked. 👏👏👏
Excellent content. As a petite person, I have a difficult time finding the right garments as most tops are too long. And, crop tops fall in the wrong place. Plus, I live in Alaska and can rarely wear sleeveless clothes. So frustrating. You are a gifted teacher. Thank you.
Love these tips Jules, I have a short torso, wide shoulders and am busty. I feel heavy often although I wear a normal size (10 on top and 8-6 on bottom, 5’8” tall, 33” inseam) and boxy in most clothing. 😭
So glad I found your channel! You give very helpful advise that other fashion channels don't. It is evident that you truly understand what looks good on everyone. Please keep the videos coming!!
Wow! You nailed the "boxy" for me. I knew I looked awful in a loose, long sleeved, crew neck vs a v-neck or short sleeved shirt, or a boxy sleeveless vs a tank top or racer back. Now that I have a more mature figure, spaghetti straps are not as flattering. I too have ribs that sit on top of my hip bones. Doing a front tuck vs a full tuck makes me look like a packing crate with too much volume falling in the wrong places. Your explanations of proportions are spot on!
ooo this video is actually very useful for the opposite too, i love looking boxy so utilizing the nono's in this video is going to make me feel so much more comfortable! thank you :D
Great video Jules! I struggle so much with looking boxy so this video is perfect for me. I'm so glad to have finally found an influencer with a similar body type to mine, giving really practical advice. ❤️😊
I used to have a friend who said high necked tops made her feel like a 'boulder' which made me laugh and which also seemed a good way to describe that unflattering boxy feeling. I personally do not like boxy fit clothes as I'm slightly bigger on top and need waist definition otherwise clothes can hang off me and swamp my frame and make me look bigger than I am and out of proportion.

I have a short waist and full skirts are my go-to for making me feel less boxy.
I really like your analytical approach to styling for proportions. Very helpful!

I so agree with these comments. Terrific advice which is real.

Aw thank you!
Jules! So good! I’m short waisted. This is so helpful! Thank you!
V necklines are always slimming. Almost all of my tops have V necklines.
Wonderfully explained, it suddenly makes sense why it didn't work😊
Love this. I am a petite short waisted rectangle … adding curves and figuring out how to wear trends has been a lifelong struggle, ha!
Thanks Beth lots of great information ❤
Glad it’s a help 😊

Aw yay 🥰
Good video. ❤
Hi JB…love it! I am inverted triangl-y 😂 with a short small waist, so I always go for rectangl-y to balance. 😅
Minute 8:49, where are those pants from? Love them! Great video by the way!
Thanks so much! They’re from Amazon * rstyle.me/cz-n/hghubxcvftf (affiliate)
A gathered waist always makes your butt look like a giant balloon, and I wear a size 2!

Curvy is where it's at! Can't stand boxy blazers!
