Was honestly annoyed you didn't go over that on the premise that it was a studio only feature. Do you just assume people don't have/use the studio version or something?
I shoot all our videos in 1080p, but I upscale everything in DR to 4K for UA-cam. I find the YT compression makes 1080p video look awful! DR does a nice job upscaling so all my source video saves me space and on UA-cam the final render I upload looks much better at all resolutions, so it is a win-win for me. Only my final render file is a bit larger, not all my raw video files. Thanks for the video! Cheers!

Any idea what could be the problem? It's look like it's only affect davinci footage even its the same codec as premiere render (premiere footage works)
For UA-cam with a nice internet connection... I just upload a ProRes export. When I don't have good internet or need to upload quickly, I export ProRes then encode to H264 or H265 in Shutter Encoder using the CPU. I set a CQ quality target of about 18 and the exports look absolutely incredible vs any of the hardware encoded videos.
Is there a way to save that custom export setting so it's already set up for every video project? I set everything up the way you did for my video but had to redo it all again next time I ran the program and had a new video to export
I find that upscaling is necessary for my motovlog footage because any clips with a lot of motion (i.e. from my motorbike) look awful in UA-cam with blocky-looking video at 1080P when YT streams that video in the AVC1 codec. If I upscale to 1440P or 4K at a decent bitrate, YT streams the video with the VP09 codec which looks loads better 👍 Large files/rendering times are the result, but for me the image quality is worth it.
Yo I know this comment's a year old but I'm the editor for a moto channel and curious, what bitrate do you use? My client has me export in 4k but on DaVinci default settings the files get MASSIVE xd
If audio quality (eg for music) is important than you should render to Quicktime which allows using uncompressed PCM audio. For music video UA-cam recommends 24bit 44.1 sample rate PCM audio in the video file.
yes this is a feature available only to partners who use UA-cam's Content ID matching system.. edit. although i have uploaded a video with this setting. strangely I was able to upload a video with a .mkv format with h.264 codec. audio was true PCM 24bit. . even though youtube says it wont accept .mkv

Hi Alex, can you expand on why you would want a compressed format for upload? I can see for storage maybe, but wouldnt you want as uncompressed a render as possble? DNXHR etc?

Thx for the helpfull video 🙏. I have a problem: my video is 13 minutes long. But when i upload it from DR on youtube it is only 10 minutes long. What could be the possible issue for that? Thank you for the answer 😊
Any idea why a 1080 video would look great on your computer and lose quality once uploaded on YT? as soon as I uploaded it on youtube the video became grainy and lost detail. I tried exporting many different settings: from the YT presets, to using several bitrates (up to 80,000 for a 1080 video) I tried upscaling it to 4k and even using Handbrake to have better compression.. the video ALWAYS looks great on computer but loses quality on YT.
Perfect video. Thanks. What about rendering a clip you will use over and over on youtube but that is not itself a whole video? Is there any reason to render with different settings that that of ones uploads? Higher quality for example? Or should it be kept the same? 2:31 I found that H264 is good for longer videos as doesn't take that long to render and it uses the CPU, H265 uses the GPU which takes longer on long videos only just realised this when i was trying to render some dead space videos which are an hour long and resolve said it would take 2 hours to render on the H265 but when i switched back to H264 it only took 40 mins. Now that being said i do have a 2070 anyone who has a newer GPU will probably be a lot faster in H265, for now, i use H265 for smaller videos.
it's it's been a few months and now I always use H265, my system is a bit weird sometimes then again i did build it myself, also i always upscale my videos to get VP9 support on UA-cam instead of the AVC or whatever it is and sometimes it makes my videos look a lot better.
Thanks for the video. I do a lot of mountain biking videos and quality setting under render is something that's always given me issues. I shoot in 4k/30fps on my GoPro. For the quality I'll push the restrict to 250,000. It just seems like a good catch all. Sometimes when I don't push the number so high everything on the sides of the video looks like I just engaged the warp drive on my bike. But doing this it seems to make objects (trees/grass) a bit clearer/more visible on the sides. I may have to go back in and do some playing around using lower settings. As always appreciate the videos.
This is great Alex thank you! It's strange however, why do I not have some of the same options you have? I am on an M1 Ultra Studio with decent power and running the paid Resolve Studio version. Does anyone know how to fix the "UA-cam" render settings issue that omits subtitles? It seems to render the entire video EXCEPT the subtitles when I use the UA-cam render setting? 🤨🤔
Hello friend, when I use those plugins like MHelloDv in a clip or adjusment clip, when rendering the video it stays stuck and does not advance, do you know how it is possible to solve it? Thanks in advance
Thanks a lot for this video, I did a lot of digging on this topic and found a lot of different approaches and philosophies. But one question: What do you mean by "massive" file size? I exported a 26min 4K Video with your 265 settings and got a file size of about 9GB. Is that ok or too big in your opinion? Thanks again!
When choosing Quality on the Mac Studio version, Automatic does not have the options associated with it (best....least ect). Is there something Im missing, or would I be best off restricting to a large kb/s? Suggestions? Action videos get hit the hardest on youtube so trying to provide the best quality up front

Hello, and thanks for the very informative videos! I'm having a problem I cannot find anywhere. All videos seem to address lagging during render or playback, but the rendered final video is where I'm having the issue. What I mean is, I have zero lag in my games, my original video footage shows absolutely no lag, but when the video gets rendered anywhere, the final video quality shows lag in every second of the video as if the entire game were lagging. I'm very frustrated to the point that I can't even tell you what I'm ready to do to this program. Is there help for this particular problem? Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks again.
Ever since switching to Davinci Resolve, my recent videos haven't been getting all of the quality options available. All of the videos exported through Davinci Resolve and fully rendered by UA-cam in SD and HD are missing 240p and 480p. Is this a setting I don't know about or? I have done some digging and many people say it's something UA-cam changed recently for smaller channels to get lower quality but I'm not 100% sure.
Hey Alex! Thank you for this video and all the others that were very helpful! 😍 I have an issue with my most recent UA-cam upload , maybe you have an idea on what's happening? I used the same rendering settings I had on all the other videos, and yet after upload it looks really shitty, pixelated and just not usable footage. I even came to this video to check if my settings were wrong by any chance, but no, everything is just as you recommend. The version in my computer is crisp and clear, but no matter what I try, upon uploading it to UA-cam, it looks super bad. Do you have any advice you could give? Thank you so much and have a great day!
Thanks for the video. Is there an option, to change uploadspeed in DaVinci? I use normally Chrome ,because there I can set the uploadspeed (in the developertools) . Overwise I would block the internet for all in my household. ;-)
please make a video about exporting different bitrates of footage to youtube, for example i usually use my iphone, gopro etc and my main camera bmpcc4k but when uploaded to youtube as one video those phone or gopro footage quality looks blurry. Great video anyway Thankyouuu
I tried exporting in H.265 recently and got *different colors* than H.264 in UA-cam! Is that expected or do you know how to explain it? I had to stick with H.264 for that reason.
Excellent video. I have DR 18 Studio 18.1.3 Build 8 and noticed I don't have a couple of these settings you showed. The first one was in quality. I only have the option to choose "Automatic" but nothing with a drop-down for 'least' to 'best". I also don't have UA-cam options to choose from within Custom Export. I only have the option to go to the UA-cam export profile. They must have changed these in recent versions.
I have 3 UA-cam accounts but Davinci Resolve Studio will not allow me to select which one it uploads to. It always wants to use the original account which I rarely use so how can I change that?
One, the probably most important setting to improve video quality was left out entirely: Encoding Profile: Main10. This will trigger 10 bit encoding, which is not an issue for UA-cam. It will eliminate any banding artefacts and keep way more texture.
Hey hey! I skipped it as its not available within the free version, and it's limited to H.265. But you are right, I should have mentioned it in passing (similarly to AV1). My intent was for this video to more aimed to free users, but I didn't communicate that well with the title so I've amended 👍🙂
Additional clarity: For Windows users, it's only available in the Studio version For Mac users, it's available for all (free and studio - although will likely depend on hardware too) and its the default option when selecting H.265 (so it doesn't need amending)
youTube recommends using mp4, but the recommendation might be for faster uploads and smaller space. Really hard to find the words "Best quality" in any of their verbiage. "Best results" is also a term used, and no explanation as to what Best Results is referring to.
Hey MrAlex. I have a question regarding video quality I can't quite figure out. Is there a significant difference in quality and data loss if I first render my video using h.256 and then upload it to YT than for example if I uploaded it to YT directly using this DaVinchi Resolve feature? I'm asking this because h.265 did mirracles for me but I'm kinda hesitant to upload my video now because I'm afraid YT will make it look worse after posting it.
Check the name. Quite often its something simple like there's already a video with the same name/title on your channel. Make sure the Title within Resolve is set as something unique for when its uploaded to UA-cam.
If you do have the AV1 option, then give that a try! It’s the latest and greatest (and should be better than H.265!)
Can you do a vid on the difference between av1 and 265?
Was honestly annoyed you didn't go over that on the premise that it was a studio only feature. Do you just assume people don't have/use the studio version or something?
@@Skapo Well I think because only the newer higher GPU actually supports Av1 on a hardware level
Will UA-cam convert h265 to h264 when you upload the video? I've seen that stated here and there, but I'm not sure if that's changed now?
@@Skapo chill - the amount of people that have cards capable of AV1 encoding is really limited right now. He also explained that.

Super helpful, thank you!
Any suggestions for fixing slight stutter in final, rendered 4K video? Computer: Lenovo Legion (CPU AMD Ryzen, NVIDIA 3060, 32 GB memory, 2 TB SSD, 4K Res). Media Source (DJI Pocket 3, some screen captures, FinePix JPEGs), Project Settings (Timeline res 3840x2160 ultra HD, 24 fps, Opt. Media/Render Cache 1/4 DNxHR HQX), Render settings: MP4, H.265, Auto encoder, 3840x2160, fps 24, Quality Auto-Best, Key frames Auto. When I render the final video, it has slight shutter/stutter the entire video. Anyway to fix this?
Thanks for the video. Is there an option, to change uploadspeed in DaVinci? I use normally Chrome ,because there I can set the uploadspeed (in the developertools) . Overwise I would block the internet for all in my household. ;-)
Hey there! I don't think there is actually! It will likely just gobble up all your bandwidth 😄
@@MrAlexTech ;-) Thank you.
How much time does UA-cam take to process the video uploaded through davinci resolve
please make a video about exporting different bitrates of footage to youtube, for example i usually use my iphone, gopro etc and my main camera bmpcc4k but when uploaded to youtube as one video those phone or gopro footage quality looks blurry. Great video anyway Thankyouuu
My DJI Mini 3 Pro can record video with up to 150 Mbit/s. So you still think, 60.000 is OK for 4k 30 fps?
I tried exporting in H.265 recently and got *different colors* than H.264 in UA-cam! Is that expected or do you know how to explain it? I had to stick with H.264 for that reason.
Ive heard people say that you should use 2 pass encoding to match premieres render quality. Is that actually needed? i feel like the 1 pass is great
Excellent video.
He's got the studio version.
I have 3 UA-cam accounts but Davinci Resolve Studio will not allow me to select which one it uploads to. It always wants to use the original account which I rarely use so how can I change that?
One, the probably most important setting to improve video quality was left out entirely:
Encoding Profile: Main10.
Additional clarity:
For Windows users, it's only available in the Studio version
For Mac users, it's available for all (free and studio - although will likely depend on hardware too) and its the default option when selecting H.265 (so it doesn't need amending)
Nice catch Dennis
FREE ? THAT IS WHAT WE WANT
I'll need to check the AV1 encoder, forgot it was a thing
Good tips. Does your video loose some quality when you import it to DaVinci Resolve?
This is great stuff! Is there a way of uploading to a channel you have editor access to and not just your main account?
hi. i can t find the custom export. can someone tell me why? only the other presets, youtube etc...
for some reason when I rendered it only rendered it as an audio file? Is this due to rendering in MP4?
What happens if you film in 4k and edit in 1080p what do you recommend rendering with? 4k it 1080p?
Excellent, thank you!
youTube recommends using mp4, but the recommendation might be for faster uploads and smaller space.
I haven't moved up to Resolve 18 yet.
Is it worthwhile or same/same?
Thanks
After rendering my video looks a lot darker. Could this be some sort of gamma issue?
Why my davinci doesn't have a quality restrict to button? its just automatic. where's the problem?
Mind blown learned again !👍
This is great but it keeps showing me UNABLE TO CONNECT WITH YOUR ACCOUNT (tried with youtube and twitter).
So helpful as always, Alex - cheers man 🙏
Thanks , but i have this issues when i click upload to ytb it instantly says '' Upload failed ''
Check the name. Quite often its something simple like there's already a video with the same name/title on your channel. Make sure the Title within Resolve is set as something unique for when its uploaded to UA-cam.
I HAVE QUICK EXPORT OPTION,BUT CANT FIND DELIVER PAGE?
