So awesome that Mike gets some shine here. The dude should be a household name for any comedy fan, and I feel like not enough people realize he's the thread that runs through 4 of the best comedy series of the last 20 years.
I really appreciate how Mike identifies that Ted works ego-less on set. At 8 min 25 sec Ted sums it up by saying, “You’re not catering to me: We’re all focused on the idea or the story.” Ted undoubtedly developed this sense and approach to cast/director teamwork in his training in live theater. Amazing dialogue between Ted and Mike!
A Man On The Inside was just lovely, I couldn't recommend it enough. Ted was amazing in it especially, heartbreaking, sweet and funny, those sit downs with Stephen McKinley Henderson's character we're so genuine and cosy, so glad they had chemistry to balance the sadness with the other side of Charles.
I know Ted is so kind and gracious to want to talk about Mike's whole career. But I would watch a 3 hour long show JUST about The Good Place. It really is one of the best shows ever from the last 15 years
@@JeremyForTheWinwhat?! I didn’t know it existed! Thank you… my son and I have rewatched the series three times. The first time I finished the final episode, I really needed to take a long break before I was ready to watch that last one again. It was hard for me to be confronted with really truly letting go, as a parent especially. Now that he has fallen in love for the first time (16), he gets it now. 😅 he couldn’t watch the final episode the last time we went through series.
I LOVE "The Good Place!" and this was so enjoyable for me to see what Mike had in mind. "It seems like a magic trick" was his best phrase. I wish more TV was this "self-aware" and cares about being positive and "good for society"....🥰
the good place is an incredible piece of work and i hope these guys are proud of it. mike has an incredible body of work from an outside perspective and i really believe it's the best thing he's ever done.
Loved the talk about ego in the beginning. I feel like Ted has an ego for sure, but then he's also just a humble, funny, collaborative, creative person on top of that, so it balances out.
Would like Mike Schur to come back and talk with Ted about "A Man on the Inside" in some detail. Also would be hilarious to hear his take on having been the son in law of Regis Philbin.
Ted as always been one of my favorite actors mostly because he never seems to be acting. He just seems to be him. A man on the inside is absolutely wonderful such a departure from everything else he’s done and yet so perfectly Ted. Thank you, and I can't wait for more to come.
For some reason I never got into Parks and Rec or The Office. Tried several times, never grabbed me. Brooklyn 99, The Good Place and Man on the Inside I was hooked from the first 30 seconds. Danson is definitely part of why I love the last two. He truly seems a decent person.
I always tell people they should start with season 2 of Parks and Rec and just skip the first season entirely - if you ever feel like giving it another go it might be something to try. :)
41:05 Bryan Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative 🙌🏼 I've had to make difficult choices based on the behavior of people I admired, and it's been really tough at times... One of my favorite musicians, for example: I had to decide to stop giving him my money and attention because he is just not a good person, and if I continue to support his music, I feel like I'm supporting his behavior. Others, I've had to recognize that we're all human and make mistakes, and we all deserve grace. It comes down to the things that are most important to me and what I'd be willing to tolerate from people I know personally. We're not all the worst things we've ever done, but some people refuse to change the behavior that lead to those bad things. This is one of my favorite episodes, and that's saying a lot!
“You ride a sine wave” needs to become a real saying IMMEDIATELY. I’m going to start using it in every situation where I’m talking about someone who is flexible and situationally adaptable.
What many might forget is Ted's track record. He's been on show after show, with runs well qualified for syndication. He's good at his craft, and I think well-liked by all.

Have you listened to the official Good Place podcast/rewatch thing? It's pretty much that
@@JeremyForTheWinneed to get on that, had no idea it was a thing.

And he was Mos! 😂
It is odd they didn’t talk about A Man On the Inside. Such a fantastic show!
Probably cause it's still on. Would be weird to reflect on something that isn't done yet.
Cousin mose is the greatest television performance of all time. No one will ever change my mind.
Danson plus Schur???? I didn't deserve such a gift on a Wednesday morning. Get Amy Poehler in there please! Love from Argentina!

Great interview! Michael Schur is truly fascinating. Can’t wait to read his book.

@@christopherbauer9991 Thanks for the advice! I'll try it again.

💐💐 Great interview and thanks Mike..Ted for making great TV
This was great - I could listen to you both talk for hours.
What a delightful and enjoyable interview. Thank you! 🙏
What a riveting conversation. I would have listened for a few more *hours*!! Well done, y'all.
Would love for Ted to bring his wife on to interview. Mary Steenburgen is a great actress
Quick solution, on this channel, hit videos, go back two weeks and there she is.
Ted really is one of the few wonderful beings who act. We have the opportunity to enjoy him, thankfully, on mamy shows.

"Mose"
Did you see that?!
Missed Mike!
Hey, voice from the 90's here. Can we get the entire series of Cheers and Mash in a boxed set of DVDs? It should be $25.
Mike Schur MUST COME BACK to just talk about A Man on the Inside!!!
Brilliant episode.
Cousin Mose!😂 and so much more...
This made me so happy! I want to live in his universe!
I never had much interest in The Good Place, but now I kind of want to check it out.
It’s a great show.
It is well worth your time. Fantastic start to end.
It's quite good, and only fifty-odd 20 minute episodes. It'll go faster than you think or hope.
Mike disliked playing Mose on The Office, but damn he was brilliant. A Mose and Dwight (and Angela) follow up limited series would be fantastic.
Did he said that on this podcast?
Great conversation
Thanks Michael, for your desert lemonade stands.
I'd love to see Tina Fey on this pod, or perhaps Woody's brother Matthew.
I wonder why they didn't talk about A Man on the Inside at all. I figured this was a promo for that show.
WHAT NEW ADVENTURE?!?!?!
is Mike Schur related to Harry Enfield?
