Avoid expensive repairs when buying your first Porsche 911 Turbo dream car. always have a leak down test performed if high mechanical over revs are notes and running compression to watch for deviation between cylinders for possible oil consumption or piston/ ring damage. Send engine oil out to the lab to test for metal and wear.
The maximum over-rev in any range is 65k

The rev 5 and 6 ignitions wouldn't concern me. As you said, it is three ignitions per rpm. Having only 7 and 2 makes me think they are noise. At 9000 rpm, 2 revolutions is 0.013 seconds.

Most concerning while looking at any 911 over rev reports is time spent in the rev range. Range 6 is not really an issue as it's a 2 and needs to be at 3 and range 5 is over 200h. This is common on modified vehicles and will happen over time. Anytime its pushed to the max it will wear. We also have a good test from last year to compare to this year and oil consumption. This engine will need to be built up as it is maxed out with stock internals. Engine is just tired and has high oil consumption, this is expected as with anything.

@@TopAutomotiveInc With all the other information, it's obvious engine failure is not too far in the future.
My 996 was a track car for much of its life. It is maxed out at stage 1 (3+ minutes at redline) and 3+ seconds of Stage 2 (mechanical over-rev). That last Stage 2 was 50k miles ago and engine is running well.

This car is back on the market. It was on PCarMarket and sold for $65+k. Looks like it was purchased by some independent dealer because it’s on cargurus and they are asking $110k for it. Sheesh . . . 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

      Covid prices...lol

@@Motorrad127 LOL . . . Covid impact would have a "reasonable" impact on pricing . . . as "reasonable" could be with these inflated prices. This dude just greedy and thinking all the mods has actually increase the value of the car when in reality, they haven't and more likely hurt the value of that particular 997 Turbo. Moderate mods may not have a huge impact or any but not in this case, especially when you don't have the original parts. Just my opinion.
BTW, I spoke to the guys at Top Automotive about this particular 997 Turbo when it was on Pcarmarket and passed due to the issues they called out in the vid - overrevs didn't bother me as much as the the potential internal wear.
