Fallout 4 Is Fun in 2024 BUT...

This video is me discussing why I think Fallout 4 is fun in 2024 since the next gen update has happened and interest in the game has skyrocketed, but I also talk about what I think holds the game back too. Some of it's positive points are that Fallout 4 has the best gameplay in the series, Fallout 4 also has pretty good looking landscapes especially compared to Falout 3 and New Vegas, and the settlement building in Fallout 4 isn't perfect but I do enjoy it as a side activity. But there is stuff that hold the game back from being great like the story which at best is mediocre, Fallout 4 also severely diminished the role playing aspect of the game with giving your character a detailed backstory and voice which I actually really hate, and I really don't like the way the Creation Club is monetized in Fallout 4 either. The show has me wanting to play Fallout again, and I'm looking at 4, but...the combat gameplay is the best in the series, but the plot and quests are so bad that it all just feels pointless. I have to feel like I'm accomplishing something, you know?

New vegas is great but grossly overrated, 4 is deeply flawed but overhated. I think a lot of nuance is lost in fandom discourse

Agreed I think 4 has it’s flaws but its still fun, and New vegas is the best but that doesnt make it perfect

I never played New Vegas and tried it a few days ago and just couldn’t get into it. The map also looks so bland and ugly to me that it makes it hard to look at for a long time. I’m gonna try to keep playing and hope the story gets good enough to engross me but so far I just don’t care for it. FO4 is one of my favorite games ever but I will say the story is a bit weak in the middle.

@jesseleesamples I personally found new vegas' story much more interesting than 4. I didn't care for 4's voiced protagonist, and I thought a lot of the quests were boring and repetitive. But the looting/shooting aspect is extremely addicting, and I think the world and characters are more than enough to make it worth playing if you find that kind of thing interesting, even if the writing is kinda bad and the dialogue can be cringe. I can see why die-hard fans of the series would be disappointed by that
