I can appreciate what this person is attempting to do. It's just that, there are bosses who you may have rubbed the wrong way, and they are on a vendetta to dismiss you. I have one right now. She is looking for any mistake, no matter how insignificant, to dismiss me. And I do mean any mistake, even things that to anyone else do not look like mistakes. I know she hates my guts, and I've accepted that. I won't give her the satisfaction of dismissing me. I will triple and quadruple check every solitary thing I do moving forward so she has nothing on me. You may ask, why stay in such a toxic place? Because I will leave when I'm good and ready, not when she says.

They knew my experience when they hired me, so they knew I’d need some training. The other person was just hired a few months after me, and has decades of experience, so they really like that person. @@babblesp1367just an update, I was essentially "railroaded" off of my previous job. My o/s continued with her harsh behaviour. It did not help that I was making small mistakes. It all came to a head when there was a huge snow storm that shut down my workplace. There was a project due that Friday. Well, I was going to take the work laptop with me, like every other person was allowed to do, but my o/s didn't allow me to do that. So, I assumed I'd be given an extension because the office was closed, and I was prohibited from taking the work laptop. I was wrong. I got dinged for missing a deadline. Bear in mind, every other employee was allowed to take their respective work laptops, I was not. It was quite obvious my o/s was intent on firing me. I then went to HR, explained the circumstance, and they prevented me from being fired. I was then given a plan to improve my mistakes, even though the little training I had been given was far insufficient. I won't bore you anymore, I just wanted to let you know what happened to me. Keep your head up, and record every instance of bad or aggressive interactions...I used to write myself emails that had the date and time of the incidents with a synopsis of what happened. I don't play games at work. The moment I perceive you to be a pain in the butt and you make the job not worth it, I'm updating my resume and plotting my exit.
Your advice is to ignore the problem and just live with it. A toxic boss is toxic because he is in the wrong position and has no idea about effective leadership. Individual like that should be removed, but HR is their case is as useless as the trash we throw out.
I think the reason why bosses are bad or toxics it's because no one calls them up on their B.S. A good boss it's like a good commander, always ready and understanding about people below them.
I like your 4th point Bernd... listen and work strategically. This is the area where 'you' the individual has control. One cannot control the actions of others but one can control his/her reaction to others. Thanks for the tips.
I have a boss that has a personal vendetta against me. He trained me and taught me a lot and i appreciate that. but he was a control freak and i was stressing really bad about my performance. {yelling at me because i didnt do what he thought of in his head. when i was training} so i went above him and talked to our manager and he said i didn't have to go with him anymore. great except for the fact that he took it personally and told everyone at my work places im not cut out for this, when in fact Ive done multiple projects at the worksite by myself. he then proceeded to silently curse at me in the parking lot and mean mug me. now this went on for a few days and im a tough person so words don't really get to me. but when the manager is out and he is in a position of power, he purposely targets me. just now got sent home from work because i was 2 mins late to a meeting that started at 9:00am. he said "why are you late, i told him ive been feeling under the weather. and he said "I dont want you here if your sick, get out." in front of the whole team. i just dont know what to do too be honest. im a very respectful person and a very upbeat and happy person but this is stressing me out. like i feel like he is trying to make me quit. TLDR: A 42 year old man child is mad at a 22 year old for not wanting to be his trainee.

Then when she is communicating to me, she can't call me privately like how she does to other employees to explain my mistakes, she goes further and puts it on email then ccc everyone like as if I've a big crime. I feel so terrible in this place, but if this is how its going to be then guess November will be my last month working for the company.
This guy deserves a huge amount of respect for giving the recommendations that he does in this video. In todays toxic 'cancel' culture we are so easily victimized or offended that we run away from a situation without even properly analzying it first. Even top executives are human and make mistakes!! The sad thing is that by just running away from a situation without sensibly analyzing it first we will look back on our lives and see the opportunities that we missed out on because we were not patient and took the time to really analyze a situation from both sides. This guy deserves respect because he is encouraging balance in the face of most people who are doing videos like this and are really encouraging people to dump a situation and run away from it too soon. Regret is a far bigger mistake than analyzing a situation and potentially gaining opportunities you could miss...
Thanks for your feedback. Let me try to clarify: Of course it is relevant if your boss is misbehaving. The point is: What can you change about it? You can try to give feedback to your boss and hope for the best. You can try to adjust your way how you think about his or her misbehaving. And if all that is not working or you don't want to do it, you still always have the option to leave. That's the three option I see here.
Your advice only empowerd the accidental and incompetent POS the company place in a position of leadership. If their bad behaviors don't get addressed the company will never know in order to replace him or her. As a result, the company or operations will eventually fall apart due to poor leadership.
My manager absolutely has a problem with women. He has threw me under the bus. He takes me wrong all the time. Now I have to write down my whole life now at work.
I see your points but don t agree with some of the examples. A micromanaging boss is not interested in my work, he/she simply doesn t trust me. About tip 5, my boss doesn t think he needs help. He doesn t have weaknesses. 😔
While I do agree that it is good advice to examine ourselves and ways that our own attitudes and behaviours may be contributing to the problem, I do not agree with this video's suggestion to help a manager "save face". One of the reasons that a manager may arrive late for a meeting would be poor time management and inefficiency with handling their own tasks. If I as their subordinate cover for them, not only does it mask the problem which may get worse due to this enabling, but it may cause me to miss out on a promotion when I could have been considered for their position. Or they may get a promotion based on perspective that I falsely created. Don't get me wrong. I have a great boss, and you had better believe that I have covered for him a few times when there were circumstances beyond his control. But your advice sounds codependent. Sorry.
I don't think that's the point he's trying to put across, you generally can't control your boss - especially as your boss has that power in the workplace. You can't change how other people are, but you can change how you react & he did also say you can move jobs if you seriously can't get along with your boss, that's not encouraging toxic behaviour whatsoever. This video took a very mature approach.
you are not loyal to a an a**hole, but rather to work that you should love, not a 'job' but your actual work or craft or whatever you do, you must really love what you do, otherwise you are just wasting time and getting miserable every day more and more. even if your boss is idiot, you should still do your work to best of your ability

My boss is sending emotion my way like a flame thrower. The only way to focus is to ignore it as much as possible. Hard though.
