If you take off the rear brackets / spring as you did you can tap from outside gently the whole adjuster mechanism from the back internals of the caliper to check all that and clean if necessary or decide if the caliper is trash ...it comes out as one unit but breaks down into 3 parts inc a spring etc ( so easy to get out and break down ) ....tap it from outside into the caliper. It then literally just leaves the caliper casing so if needed those 3 parts can be cleaned too and lubricated. I bought brand new Bosch remanufactured calipers...had them 3 years tbh but painted them and decided to change the colour then thought just get the pistons out to check all the seals etc ....1 piston was not budging and had to use a breaker bar which obviously ended up breaking the wind screw in the piston ( brand new calipers NEVER been on the car or obviously seen rain / road salt ) and I've never seen anything like the state of the internals hence why everything was seized or I'd say rust welded ....absolutely unbelievable you'd think I fished them out of a canal and like you said new Bosch are now £200 approximately......I wonder if on remanufacture they did not lubricate those rear parts at all ....I just don't know! I'm going to now check my original calipers and see what they're like inside but hopefully they'll be salvageable 🙏🏻 they were working fine so we'll see. Did you use the Frentech kit? Does the kit come with those washers and bearing washer etc? Not sure how I can contact you but I'm sure you're in the 220 Enthusiasts group? Cheers mate another good video 👍🏻

@@mondeost220restorations9 I spoke to Dave and Frentech today and they do the rebuilt kits but not the handbrake internal mechanism .... they've got the wrong photo of the spring on their kit so have taken it down for now. It's a good channel mate .... you're very thorough and explanatory which people want and can learn by pretty easy. That petrol tank filler pipe plastic retaining clip thingy lol ... absolute pain if you don't get it right and your method was good .. much better than mine 😆 luckily I didn't brake it but little tips like that help a lot 👍🏻
