I have a few ambernic systems I have the Aya neo pro 2021 and I must say they're pretty good, but nothing nothing compares to my steam deck!! nothing is phenomenal. It's so easy for newbies to just pick up and play, and at the same time, it's advance for people that know what they're doing. I'm just so in love with it, and then of these can compare to it in my opinion
I agree, I would love to get my hands on one, even at $300-$500. But it's damn near impossible to reasonably get one now. I'm not willing to put my name on a waitlist for 1+years and tie up my money. The way these companies are churning out handhelds, there will probably be 50 more on the market by then.
I want to see clamshell Linux based handhelds with tempered glass 5 inch displays, Emulec stock firmware from the RGB10 Max 2 or the RG353P, onboard stereo speakers, extended battery life (large lithium battery with battery compartment door), dual micro sd card slot, KODI media player, flawless 32bit and below emulation, full sized HDMI out, large buttons the size of SNES controller buttons, at least 1GB of RAM. Other than that, my most favorite newest handheld this year is Anbernic's RG353P. Previous handhelds I have and like is the Pure Black Powkiddy RGB10 Max 2, the Anbernic RG300X (both editions), the Wood Grain Anbernic RG351V, the Miyoo Mini, the Powkiddy A66 and the Powkiddy X17. I also think the Powkiddy X17 is underrated! To me, it's the best 7 inch Android handheld out there for retro gaming.
I imagine these are more time consuming to make, but I think these are your best videos. I will look forward to Best Handhelds of 2022 and Best Upcoming Handhelds of Early 2023.
I don't understand all this fancy with big expensive handhelds. Give me that retro feeling I loved when discovering my first tiny Pocket Go or RG350 ! So now I just wait for RP3 that will improve comfort of my beloved RP2+ 🥰😍. Just give us fun little rétro handhelds, not big transportable PC's 😅😜
I agree with you a lot, from all of these devices only the rp3, the p60 and the kt-r1c are the only actual retro handhelds of the future. I'm quite excited for those three
I sprung for the Loki Mini with the 1215u. I like the form factor and I feel like it has a chance to be the first Windows handheld to really pop. The biggest bummer is that I have no idea when the hell I'm gonna get it.

Interesting to see... I just got a Steam Deck a few weeks ago and very impressed with it. It IS a large device through but, for what it does, it's amazing. It still stinks but, to compete or better than the Deck your talking $1K+. This is just making the Steam Deck the far better value.

I'm still looking for a good emulation device that can play both PSP and GameCube well $200 and under. Still debating on the Odin Pro, but I am not sure if it is capable of running higher end emulation well. I do have a Steam Deck, but I'm still reluctant to installing Windows 11 since it tends to accumulate garbage data that slows down the hardware, and I'm still reading that W11 creates heating problems with the Deck.

Everyone has different demands so it's good 'Handheld Gaming Pcs' have options: - mini pocket budget friendly - midsized and value packed - massive pro power models. I'm going for massive pro power models as I want a Handheld Gaming PC that can be powerful enough to also serve as my only desktop pc as well. Willing to shell out more for the more powerful specs, because it would end up cheaper in the longer run than buying separate devices and it can do more. Very interested to what OneXplayer 2 XL or Aya Neo Next 2 can offer.

Contrary to the gamegear, the lynx or the wonderswan it was really affordable and its battery lasted ages. That's where the success lies. On making quality affordable products. The steam deck shocked the handheld market not only due to its performance, but because it costs a fraction of what the aya and gpd products do and valve was willing to sacrifice on stuff like built in storage, vibration and build materials in order to achieve affordability while also investing heavily on developing a great feature rich software and firmware tailored for maximizing performance through tricks and facilitating tinkering with refresh rate limiting, built in fsr, power sliders and so on. Many brands got the wrong idea and are trying to bruteforce their way into the deck's league through expensive and powerful yet unpolished, poorly thinked and designed devices without software work and poor support instead on focusing on what has made stuff like the retroid pocket 2, the miyoo and the ayn odin so great
Exactly. Nearly all the companies who are making competitors to the Steam Deck won't offer the software support their hardware warrants, forcing owners to look to the community for solutions. Been there done that.

I'd love to pick up an Odin Pro if I didn't think my money would be locked up for 6-12 months.
You wount find a single GPD video in here. This guy has a infantile argument with GPD. There a less biased youtubers out there with way better content, like the phawx. GPD has been the first company with a pc based gaming devices and they are doing that for way longer than aya, ayn, and onenet (aokzoe, onexplayer and all the other sub-brands from them)!
Curious as to why Windows handhelds have been the thing to pursue, instead of more Android-based devices (especially for ease of use by the consumer) - are these AMD chipsets cheaper than Snapdragon's?
The emulation options on windows has a much wider scope than on Android. Android is just now getting ps2 emulation into a usable state, whereas windows has ps3, og xbox, Xbox 360, and Nintendo switch set in stone.

Like, it took forever for PS2 to come to Android, and even at the beginning of that, it was optimized incredibly quickly (within a year?), and I'm Guessing more people find AetherSX2 easier to use than PCSX2 (even though it's based off of it, etc). People prefer 'download from the app store' over 'did you install the correct drivers?'', you know?

I'd like to have a plug and play device (with Batocera), which could play up to Dreamcast/GameCube. The Retroid Pocket 2 was great, but such a hassle to configure. I'll wait for the Retroid Pocket 3 or the next Anbernic device.
Anbernic RG351MP is my favorite so far. Solid design metal chasis and 4:3 is ideal. Also it supports JELOS which is a very clean well put together OS. We need to see other handhelds supported by such a good OS.
Well I’m extremely happy with my aya neo 2021: pc games, many emulators including Dreamcast, wii/GameCube, ps2, PSP, ds, gba, n64: ps1 and even has an internet browser
I just want something that can reliably do gamecube at full speed, 1x resolution is fine, and can actually be... Purchased, not preordered for an unknown amount of time in advance with full payment upfront.
lol gpd win 3 was kicking ass a year before steam started shipping anything. and is still super playable, instead of aya neo which was its competitor. i hope aya next will be something to look at.

Some of these just seem to be handheld pcs rather than handheld consoles. Its nice to see some of these other ones on list seem more like gaming consoles than pcs.
In terms of looks, the Aya Neo Air looked the best. If it can handle all my tactics games at 60 fps at at least 1080p i'll happily buy one of those. The white AYN Loki as looked really sexy.
I like the channel, I do however feel the Switch is my choice still. Its overall what I'm looking for in a handheld. The steam deck is very cool. However it's cost factor for sure pushes back. I'm becoming a dad so saving money and casual gaming time is what my future is likely to hold. Some of these retro systems seems pretty cool since they cost so little and include so many games. Retro gaming might be my thing if it one day reaches Gameboy-PS4 kind of power. I for sure see that being a thing.
I would love to pick up an Odin, but I hear people who ordered one a year ago still haven't received it. I don't want to order a device that will be obsolete by the time I receive it.
Migh be interested in getting one, i love my switch but i wish some games that i had on my ps4 pro and old xbox 360 i still have were on my switch. Though in past many of the handhelds i found were too expensive. I do like there are some getting closer to affordability. Though i love going to gamestop, bestbuy, walmart, or ordering on amazon to get physical copies and if dont like it, i can get refund. Not sure if you do that with digital only style consoles. But i still want one of these a try. I heard though sometimes setting these up can be a paind compared to a console like switch or playstation. Is that true?
The one thing I wish Steam Deck had was an OLED screen. Looks like Ayoneo is jumping the gun first. Wish I kind of new about it first, but I also don't know Ayoneo like I know Valve's Steam Deck so we'll see.
Asus and Lenovo is able to make PC handhelds cheaper than Aya Neo. There is really no such thing as a Steam Deck competitor as Valve only wanted to start the market. Knowing Valve, they will still upgrade Steam Deck for years. In fact Valve is still making new upgraded firmwares for their old discontinued Steam Link box.
I'm patiently wait for the tech to catch up. With time prices will go down , performance will get better and battery will will be decent enough to actually make these devices usefull. Steam deck got the pricing right but I'm not yet convinced, I'd maybe go for steamdeck 3 when it comes out.
I love my Ambernic win600 (300dlls), all i wanted was a small(smaller than the steam deck) windows cheap device for runing my steam indi games library. It looks like the Loki will be a direct competitor of the Anbernic win600. For 16bit emulation i have my Miyoo Mini V2, the perfect mini handler.

I just want a slightly larger miyoo mini vertical that is similar to the original gameboy (didn't managed to get one as they stopped production), didn't like the horizontal form factor because vertical brings back nostalgia and there are too many horizontal retro handheld.
All I want is a $100 device that dies a rock solid job with dreamcast/N64 emulation. Existing models with current chips should do it. Is that too much to ask?

I'm hoping to see a handheld that's actually portable like the gba, gba sp, ds lite. I don't like how handheld are too big now like switch lite.
The RP2+ is about as big as a GBA, only sore spot being how far out the joystick is.

Your best bet is a foldable phone at the moment if you want a GBA SP handheld emulator

And more ergonomics, every handheld wants to look like the switch so the buttons aren't laid out ergonomically.
There is the Powkiddy V90 and the Powkiddy X18S.
I know everyone disliked the gba sp ergonomics, but my little hands thought the thing was comfortable while adoring the form factor portability.

The Retroid Pocket 2 was great, but such a hassle to configure.
I'll wait for the Retroid Pocket 3 or the next Anbernic device.
RP2+ is a huge improvement towards standard RP2 concerning configuration, you should upgrade it :)

Anbernic RG351MP is my favorite so far. Solid design metal chasis and 4:3 is ideal. Also it supports JELOS which is a very clean well put together OS. We need to see other handhelds supported by such a good OS.
Well I’m extremely happy with my aya neo 2021: pc games, many emulators including Dreamcast, wii/GameCube, ps2, PSP, ds, gba, n64: ps1 and even has an internet browser
I just want something that can reliably do gamecube at full speed, 1x resolution is fine, and can actually be... Purchased, not preordered for an unknown amount of time in advance with full payment upfront.
While it is expensive I got the aya neo 2021 which I absolutely love, so cool having a handheld portable pc

lol gpd win 3 was kicking ass a year before steam started shipping anything. and is still super playable, instead of aya neo which was its competitor. i hope aya next will be something to look at.
What do you think about waiting a few months for Backbone One for Android? Most of us probably already own a powerful smartphone with high quality display.
I'm most looking forward to hopefully getting my hands on my Playdate and Analogue Pocket later this year.

Some of these just seem to be handheld pcs rather than handheld consoles. Its nice to see some of these other ones on list seem more like gaming consoles than pcs.
The one x player 1s is still the leading handheld and it is available right now. In terms of price, you get what you pay for.
In terms of looks, the Aya Neo Air looked the best. If it can handle all my tactics games at 60 fps at at least 1080p i'll happily buy one of those. The white AYN Loki as looked really sexy.

Which one of the Windows run hand helds could play F4 at a constant 60 even in large battles at ultra settings?
I like the channel, I do however feel the Switch is my choice still. Its overall what I'm looking for in a handheld. The steam deck is very cool. However it's cost factor for sure pushes back. I'm becoming a dad so saving money and casual gaming time is what my future is likely to hold. Some of these retro systems seems pretty cool since they cost so little and include so many games. Retro gaming might be my thing if it one day reaches Gameboy-PS4 kind of power. I for sure see that being a thing.
I would love to pick up an Odin, but I hear people who ordered one a year ago still haven't received it. I don't want to order a device that will be obsolete by the time I receive it.

Migh be interested in getting one, i love my switch but i wish some games that i had on my ps4 pro and old xbox 360 i still have were on my switch. Though in past many of the handhelds i found were too expensive. I do like there are some getting closer to affordability. Though i love going to gamestop, bestbuy, walmart, or ordering on amazon to get physical copies and if dont like it, i can get refund. Not sure if you do that with digital only style consoles. But i still want one of these a try.
I heard though sometimes setting these up can be a paind compared to a console like switch or playstation. Is that true?
The one thing I wish Steam Deck had was an OLED screen. Looks like Ayoneo is jumping the gun first. Wish I kind of new about it first, but I also don't know Ayoneo like I know Valve's Steam Deck so we'll see.
New miyoo mini looks like the rg280m but not metal and possibly better performance?
Asus and Lenovo is able to make PC handhelds cheaper than Aya Neo. There is really no such thing as a Steam Deck competitor as Valve only wanted to start the market. Knowing Valve, they will still upgrade Steam Deck for years. In fact Valve is still making new upgraded firmwares for their old discontinued Steam Link box.
Retroid needs go with a 5.5in screen slightly beefed up internals it would be the perfect handheld @150usd

I'm patiently wait for the tech to catch up. With time prices will go down , performance will get better and battery will will be decent enough to actually make these devices usefull. Steam deck got the pricing right but I'm not yet convinced, I'd maybe go for steamdeck 3 when it comes out.

I love my Ambernic win600 (300dlls), all i wanted was a small(smaller than the steam deck) windows cheap device for runing my steam indi games library. It looks like the Loki will be a direct competitor of the Anbernic win600.
For 16bit emulation i have my Miyoo Mini V2, the perfect mini handler.

I think miyoo mini will not be a comfortable device to to use. I have powkiddy device with same layout and it started to pain in hands after an hour.
Yeah I would say a horizontal device is much more comfortable to hold for long periods than a vertical device

I just want a slightly larger miyoo mini vertical that is similar to the original gameboy (didn't managed to get one as they stopped production), didn't like the horizontal form factor because vertical brings back nostalgia and there are too many horizontal retro handheld.
