Stickers have been less of a problem ever since I found out you can stick most of 'em slightly on the end of a brick separator and use that to help with positioning.
It brought back memories for me. My favorite part of building with Lego cars as a child was crashing them into each other and then pretending to be a mechanic and fix them.
This reminds me of the good old days when i made giant structures with K'nex. No stickers, but many rubber bands and battery-powered engines just to make a semi-decent contraption. Not to mention the pieces that would sometimes snap halfway through.
My dad never had a lego set of his own as a kid and for christmas last year we got him this exact kit but he never had time to build it and he ended up giving it to me. It's now on display in my room

I purposely avoided ever putting the stickers on any of my lego sets and I don't regret it. (Granted I haven't actually had a whole lot of lego sets in my life but I still stand by it.)
The second phase is when you have to take it off because it’s crooked if you can somehow manage to do that you get to phase 3 which is re place the sticker after you fail that 6 times you unlock the secret phase of defeat where you just give up
Daniel, you can use the brick separator to apply stickers much more easily. Stickers used to be my least favourite part of Lego until I discovered this trick. A knife works even better, if you have one. If not, then just use the brick separator.
I haven't built Lego in ages but my technique for applying stickers was to lay the sticker on lightly, almost just dropping it onto the brick, nudge it until it was straight and then stick it down properly. But I was also a weird kid who really liked putting the stickers onto the bricks and who would have her ADD kick in and start playing with a half finished set. XD
I built mine in a morning 2 years ago I think. I built the Mustang in 2-3 hours. It took me 4 hours and 45 minutes to build the NES set. The actual console took me an hour and a half, the controller and cartridge took a collective 15 minutes. The TV took 3 hours.
2:45 - So I used to own a '76 VW Beetle. Those things were put together so tightly that maintenance in the engine compartment was difficult, to say the least. I took it in to have an alternator replaced (I had neither time nor space nor tools to work on it), and it took the guy like four days and he had to pull the entire freakin' engine out to get at it.
I feel you whenever a sticker comes up. I was building my first set yesterday. McLaren Technic and there's like 30-40 stickers and every time my fingers would not stop shaking. One side of the car has near-perfectly aligned stickers, while on the other side... every sticker is on an angle. I now display my McLaren with having the perfect side shown.
Don't know if this is going to be helpful but: You can try to spray some water onto the piece you're going to put the sticker onto, that way even when the sticker is being pasted you can still move the sticker in case if it is misplaced. Afterwards you can squeeze the water out using a cotton swab or anything else that does the job. I've only tried it on plastic model kits, so I don't know if the same trick can be used on lego builds.
5:00 Kind of funny re-watching this after getting the lego botanical succulents set. The succulents set has 6 guns in it! They're used as the stems for some of the leaves / petals of one of the hen and chicks in the set.
Every time I build a LEGO set I have to flip a few pages back in the middle of it because something doesn't fit and I forgot ONE step 10 pages ago. Bonus points if you have to take the whole thing apart. I also hate those stickers... the stickers on my Space Shuttle are crumbling away and span over multiple tiles. I had to put clear tape over them. 17 years of sunlight is death for stickers.
