Honestly, if Id Software would just add more variety to the chainsaw and berserker kill animations, it would go a long way.
@@theST1NG well in some aspects doom eternal strays away from from what doom 2016 had.. doom eternal was basically supposed to be an arcade type of game, doom 2016 is more on the realistic type
The Chaingun in Doom Eternal looks more like the Plasma Chaingun, yet it shares the same ammo as the Heavy Cannon, aka the Heavy Assault Rifle. Also, both the Rocket Launcher and the Ballista look way more gothic than the Doom 2016 counterpart.
doom eternal overall looks more gothic than doom 2016. Doom 2016 for the most part looks futuristic and sci-fi. Doom eternal to me has a little bit of older doom and quake feel to it
I felt like the energy shield was a good edition to the chain gun, you know how many hordes I cleaned through with that gun and shield? OP combo especially with the mastery perk.
I personally like doom 2016s art style because it feels more gory and less arcadey then doom eternal, it really feels like the slayer doesn’t care what happens he just wants to kill as many demons as possible, but I enjoy doom externals weapons, and enemies more, I think there’s enough in each game to satisfy the player.
The plasma gun looks drastically different in doom eternal because Bethesda wanted to keep the original plasma gun model on the 2020 doom to keep the 'legacy' or the original doom games.
One of my only complaints with 2016 was that too many of the weapons were UAC weapons, not DOOM SLAYER weapons. I love DOOM ETERNAL's weapons more for this reason, they look loke weapons DOOM SLAYER would use.
Because in Doom 2016, Doomslayer almost finds his weapons next to UAC dead soldiers but when he finds his weapons in Doom Eternal, they all looks like someone has forgotten them for a long times
double trouble was necessary when the default shot of the sss is only half as powerful as the one from doom eternal. double trouble is not needed anymore since the doom eternal ssg does twice as much damage already
I think doom eternal takes a more "futuristic" weapon design then doom '16 but the weapons feels more badass and beefier in doom eternal , just look at the combat shotgun , in doom 2016 the shotgun was capable to hold 1 single shot grenade and a 3 burst mode but in doom eternal they turn it into an absolute beast capable to hold 5 grenades and have an alternative full auto mode that completely shreeds every demons in Comes in your face And the precession bolt instead of using it as a normal ACOG scope , you Can use to down enemy's weak points in eternal and take them out more easily
But c’mon the bfg 9000 in doom 2016 was just perfection. The unstable ball of energy was just perfect. Unlike the doom eternal counterlike as the ”perfect” sphere it fires.
IMO, the shotgun in Doom Eternal is neat with the mods, but I dislike the sound it fires. 2016 had the shotgun sound like it had more power and kickback to it.
Doom Slayer the starting Shotgun in 2016 Doom was shite , and yet I know a freind who finished the whole campaighn and didn’t use the double barrel shotgun Lol
Yes, tho I think u should think about how the plasma rifle in eternal is the oh and it looks WAYYYYY cooler than the plasma gun that looks like a halo gun.
@@Placidboy9io I understand it's an homage to the classic plasma gun, and I never said I disliked it. I just personally find the sleeker appearance of the 2016 plasma gun a bit more aesthetically pleasing than the bulkier one from Eternal
I agree. I think the only one I liked the sound of better was the Doom 2016 Chaingun because it had a more dense, bassy quality. But the Doom Eternal Chaingun is a lot faster and more futuristic than the more heavy, mechanical design of the 2016 one, so it makes sense though.
I love doom 2016's UI. The slight curves make me like I'm wearing the praetor helmet instead of just staring at a screen, and the crosshairs just feel cleaner to me
@@joe9966 yeah but I just noticed the chainsaw part didin't have enough gore It should have more blood splattered than just stream of blood but to be honest. Doom eternal what I found is the weapon design looks neat however it's a little bit like gothic something but still good.
you can say whatever you want, but chaingun and gauss cannon looks more badass in 2016 version. Just listening to minigun engine when it's tripled, or charging gauss when aiming - is like eardope for me, honestly.
I mean the regular chaingun got an upgrade from a regular looking minigun to a goddamn plasma minigun with 4 barrels instead of 3, and the gauss cannon went from being a futuristic rail gun thing to a freaking gigantic crossbow that looks like it was forged in the deepest pit of hell. I consider that an upgrade and I thought the 2016 weapons looked fairly uninspired compared to the new ones.
@@afungai1649 i think plasma miniguns are not as brutal as gunpowder miniguns, seeing an enemy pour blood rather than just be filled with holes is more brutal, i do agree with the balista tho
One thing I noticed is that the Heavy Cannon is not a hitscan weapon like the Heavy Assault Rifle from 2016. Why this choice was made is a question to me since the AR was supposed to be a longer range weapon to most of the arsenal. My guess is that they wanted to nerf the range of the AR to either require more skill to use at range or force the player closer to his enemies.
Cannon shells generally move slower than rifle bullets do, but yeah i think it was a skill thing tbh. The old assault rifle was great for camping, now you need to use something thats more expensive to fire or lead your target.
I'm glad they kept the same functionality for most of the weapons and mods because that was already pretty much perfect. The models, animations, and sounds are so much cooler in Eternal. The Heavy Cannon especially with its faster firing micro missiles. I love using it in Eternal, whereas I didn't use it much in 2016. Also really love the classic plasma rifle design and the new rocket launcher. The standard and super shotguns are much better too, and the super doesn't make the standard useless once it's fully upgraded. It's probably the two shotguns I love the most. In 2016, once the super was fully upgraded, there was almost no reason to ever use the standard. It was stronger and used the same amount of ammo. Now, they just took off that overpowered shoot twice before reloading upgrade and made the standard shotgun's mods better. What's better than being able to fire a grenade from your shotgun? Being able to shoot a bunch of them. And they stick to things! What's better than being able to fire a burst of rounds from your shotgun? Being able to go full auto! I love it. And while I love the Gauss canon and miss it in Eternal, the ballista is an incredibly fun weapon. That sound design is so crunchy! It reminds me of the plasma beam from Metroid Prime, my favorite weapon from that game, in both look and sound. There's very little that's more satisfying than sticking a demon with the arbalest, especially when you have the upgrade that allows for immediate follow up arbalest shots after successfully sticking one! Also at 9:07 I know that must be a glitch with the arbalest using some animations from the destroyer blade but it really looks cool that way. Wish it actually did that all the time.
The only thing I really noticed and liked better in 2016 vs eternal, is the chain saw has much more variability in its animations. Same deal with the Berserk powerup, in Eternal it seems like each demon only has one animation, while in 2016 there was a slew of animations depending on your angle of attack, same as the glory kills from both games.
realistic fact: uranium coating was actually how piercing ammo worked long ago, it was made from the waste material of nuclear reactions, so it was also a use for all that material that would go to useless waste, when the bullet hit... for example, a steel plate, the more the bullet weared down, the sharper it became, today they use multiple layers of materials to create a high efficient piercing rounds, no more radioactive materials are used for grunt firearms or artillery ammo.
Not going to lie, but one of the *minor* problems that Doom 2016 and Eternal had were the weapon sounds. I know Doom wasn't about badass weapon noises and this is a very horrid nitpick of mine, but punchy firing sounds make the combat feel more enjoyable.
Yeah, compared to the stuff games like the new Modern Warfare has, even in their own futuristic realm some of the sounds in Doom just don't hold a candle to some other shooters. The other sounds are nasty tho, especialy all those UI/weapon clicks, blips etc., just not the shots themselves (unless the weapon is totaly sci-fi, some of them, like the Ballista, sound OK).
My only two gripes with _Doom Eternal’s_ weapons is this: the ammo pool feels somewhat restricted from _Doom_ 2016 , and you can’t upgrade the Super Shotgun to where you can fire off two shots before reloading like in _Doom_ 2016, although both could be explained by the game encouraging you to utilize different strategies to take out different demons and the fact that certain upgrades can mitigate this issue by giving you multiple options to refill your ammo quickly.
Doom Eternal offers infinite ammo with the cheats though. In Eternal they tried to make you think a lot more for each encounter, much like you had to in the original games.
WaveForceful Right. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing ( I actually really appreciate the challenge), but there are occasional times where when you’re playing without cheats where it can feel somewhat taxing on one’s nerves (I’M F$=KING LOOKING AT *YOU,* MARAUDER!!!).
Not being able to shoot twice with the SSG in eternal sucks sure, but I guess the meathook makes up for that (if you’re not going to upgrade the damage, might as well make it another resource for armour)
The text at the top right is wrong, since when it teaches Doom 2016 it actually teaches Doom Eternal, and in turn when it teaches Doom Eternal it actually teaches Doom 2016, which is why it is backwards
It is curious to see how the plasma rifle in 2016 had a design that appealed more to the DOOM 3 version while the DOOM Eternal version had a design that returned more to its original roots
I am glad the developers got more creative with the weapon mods in Eternal, although I prefer the more tactical/militaristic model of 2016, with exceptions such as the chain gun or combat shotgun
Imagine fighting someone and then they literally bring something out of their pocket, a chain gun, to which they add sum to it to make it a dam quad gun
You didn't include the plasma rifle stun mod in DOOM 2016, (I don't know if it's in eternal I haven't played it) though I understand why, it's because there are no monsters. Great video by the way
Personally i love both Doom's aesthethic . Doom 2016 has this Futuristic Millitary aesthethic where the guns made out of a steel , laser , complex engine and etc . And for Doom eternal it has the futuristic Gothic theme where the guns made out of bones and souls of your dead enemies , furnished and attached with something that makes u a true demon killer . Both game was Fucking badass 69420 / 10
The heavy cannon sounds, and feels, like an actual cannon. Plus the precision shot is a good way to deal with weak points and fodder groups with a headshot
I feel like doom 2016 mastered the sound effects. The Eternal ones just don’t quite match up The only sound I really like better than 2016 is the rocket launcher and super shotgun
I love how even the smallest things, like weapon mods, in doom 2016 were tweaked to be made even more fun. like the inclusion of the sticky grenade and there being a slight half second delay makes playing with it far more satisfying than just... another grenade.
@@zigaklun3395 i had absolutely no problem with the platforming and this is the first game i have played that has had a heavy emphasis on the 3d platforming.
Exactly, most of the complains mainly boil down to “new thing bad, old thing good” or just personal preference. Objectively Doom Eternal is a better game than 2016. Although 2016 is slightly better in SOME ways, like the fact there weren’t 3rd person cutscenes in the last game. Either way, Doom Eternal is going in the history books as a classic, whether they like it or not.
@@afungai1649 I think you are better off using the word complex. Once you know to use all the tools in Eternal I think it might become ''easier''. I love how the glory kills don't focus on too much blood spray. It prefer seeing the demons facial features and the details of limbs being cutoff and the details of their insides. Doom Eternal is perfect.

Love the sound of the plasma rifle in eternal. Love the look of the rocket launcher in eternal. I love the chain gun in eternal. Something about the mobile turret is just baller to me. The shield mode in eternal for the chain gun is extremely useful too if used correctly. The super shottie in eternal is incredible. The ballista is more unique than the gauss cannon and I prefer it and its attachments however siege mode on the gauss cannon is incredible. I like the BFG in terms of animations and sound in eternal but I prefer 2016 when it comes to the design. I prefer the amount of animations for the chainsaw in 2016, however I also understand that 2016 had less demons than eternal and therefore it was easier to make more animations for less enemies. Just my opinions. That is all
as it seems, all weps got confused in the video, 'cause when on the right upper corner of the screen it reads "Doom Eternal", this is actually Doom 2016, and vice versa.

I think doom eternal takes a more "futuristic" weapon design then doom '16 but the weapons feels more badass and beefier in doom eternal , just look at the combat shotgun , in doom 2016 the shotgun was capable to hold 1 single shot grenade and a 3 burst mode but in doom eternal they turn it into an absolute beast capable to hold 5 grenades and have an alternative full auto mode that completely shreeds every demons in Comes in your face
And the precession bolt instead of using it as a normal ACOG scope , you Can use to down enemy's weak points in eternal and take them out more easily
I kinda prefer the chain gun in Doom 2016 than Doom Eternal.

@@joe9966 doom 2016 is more gory, the glory kills in doom 2016 is actually rip and tear. In doom eternal its just slicing enemies with arm blade
you can say whatever you want, but chaingun and gauss cannon looks more badass in 2016 version.
@@TenebrusI07 That could be the reason.
I love how you showed every gun and mode, I enjoyed it, keep up the good work
Not going to lie, but one of the *minor* problems that Doom 2016 and Eternal had were the weapon sounds. I know Doom wasn't about badass weapon noises and this is a very horrid nitpick of mine, but punchy firing sounds make the combat feel more enjoyable.
It's actually one of the reasons I've struggled to get into them.
Doom 3 has the worst weapon sounds so far. Maybe except for plasma rifle recharge sound.
@@kness555 Doom 3 is at least three eras behind, compared to the games at the time it was decent in sound quality.
The Ballista would like to disagree with you.
My mind said Doom Eternal, but my laptop said Doom 3
WaveForceful
Right.
I love how heavy every gun sounds in Eternal

I am glad the developers got more creative with the weapon mods in Eternal, although I prefer the more tactical/militaristic model of 2016, with exceptions such as the chain gun or combat shotgun
Imagine fighting someone and then they literally bring something out of their pocket, a chain gun, to which they add sum to it to make it a dam quad gun
You didn't include the plasma rifle stun mod in DOOM 2016, (I don't know if it's in eternal I haven't played it) though I understand why, it's because there are no monsters.
