  • Welcome back to another Wildlife Photography Documentary!
    In this episode, we are in Wind Cave National Park, on the search for Coyote's during mating season, and end up finding a gorgeous herd of Bison! Follow along while I spend some time in nature, film some wildlife in 4K, do some overlanding in my Scout Kenai truck camper, boondock in a national forest, and just overall enjoy being in the presence of these amazing animals. I hope you all find this relaxing, calming, and stress relieving. Thank you all for watching!

    So cool seeing the bison, coyotes, and prairie dogs existing together like that. Stunning! I imagine being able to stick my tongue in my nose might be beneficial… perhaps not socially acceptable though. 😅

    Enjoying the content, Love The area you are in. I go twice a year myself, now I think I need to add a winter trip. Just a kind word, you may want to tell people that your drone footage was taken outside the National Park. You don't want to give your audience the idea that you can or that you're breaking the Law/rules. It is what it is, I sure would hate for you to get that dreaded letter from our government with a fine for doing so. I have followed several influencers that have come to that fate, told the story and corrected. You are doing a good job telling a story keep up the good work.

      Thanks for the advice, I totally understand where you are coming from. It was totally taken in a national forest, just outside the park. I’ll keep that in mind!

    So beautiful. Your video and story telling is top notch. Question for you, do you shoot in 8k then punch in to 4k in post? The bison take up a nice size in the frame, obviously hard to tell how close you are in person. Cheers and best of luck to you.

      Thanks for watching! It's a bit of a mix. I shoot in 6K, and use the 400mm bare, a 1.4 TC, and a 2X TC. so sometimes its 6K scaled down to 4K, or 6K cropped into 4K. So at any given time, I can be anywhere between 400mm and about 1064mm (Ish).

    Wow that was some amazing footage of those bison ,great video ,also i wondered if you would have any recommendations for a budget wildlife photography lens for the canon 80d I would really like to get into photography but wasn't sure what would be a good lens to start with.

    • @FoxandFir
      @FoxandFir  7 місяців тому

      Thanks so much! Thanks for watching! And for sure, I'll give you a few options. but before we start, I always suggest buying used. about 99% of my gear is bought used, and I never have an issue. it saves a lot of money! First would be a sigma 100-400 if your budget is around $500.00, next would be the sigma 150-600 Contemporary (Dont waste your money on the "sports" version, the C model is just as good, and weighs less, and costs less). That would be had for like maybe $650 ish, maybe more or less depending on which one. You really cannot beat the range and versatility! If you wanted to stick with canon, The 100-400 II is a great lens, but you will be paying a premium at probably $1K or more. It's going to be the sharpest one I recommended, and probably the best weather sealing also, but much less reach than the 150-600. But it's a stunning lens. If I was in your shoes, I would be doing either the Sigma 150-600 C, or the Tamron 150-600 G2 (also a really great lens). Good Luck shooting!

      @@FoxandFirThank you so much for your recommendations seriously really appreciate it I'm definitely wanting to stick with canon and I agree with the used gear. Will definitely be looking at one of those lens to purchase. You just got a new subscriber!!

    Stick with it! I love watching your content. You are going to be one of the greats! Since seeing your Superduty with a scout i have looked at them a time or two. Right now i have a AT Overland Summit on the back of the truck with a full build out. That scout looks amazing though. Take care.

      It really is. I had a 4 wheel camper for a bit too and liked it. But had both at the same time and could only keep one. Big campers are "go fast" the Summit is "go faster" Not as comfortable though. @@FoxandFir
