General Chang didn't expect to be beaten by a communications officer who noticed a obvious weakness in a enemy vessel. I'm guessing that those months between Star Trek 3 and 4 served her well.

There's also the moment when Kirk smashes the transmuter in "Catspaw". One imagines that Korob and Sylvia were well aware that they were about to die, although it's hard to make out the expressions on their tentacled little marionette faces.

My biggest problem with Data's death is that they telegraphed it so early and so hard in that movie that there was no way you couldn't see it coming and be shocked. The only real surprise about it was that in Picard, they showed that B4 couldn't handle Data's personal information, because everyone _knew_ Data was coming back. Indeed, books were even written about it.
I think that's the biggest problem I had with Nemesis from the beginning. Everything was telegraphed. It was like they had a List of Boxes to Check to Make a Good Movie, and every single one was stamped on there with a hammer.

I think this list is great, but what about in Star Trek: Insurrection when Ru'afo falls to his death in the collector? Or Admiral Dougherty when he gets his face stretched until he dies? Our Data's daughter, Lal? Tuvix? Or when Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemisis when Picard stabs him, and then he slides down the spear towards Picard and dies in his face?

Shax is an absolute lunatic who loves battle though. Like literally the only thing they'd have to change to make him a Klingon would be his appearance, because other than that he basically already is one. A very very bloodthirsty Klingon, living in a Bajoran body :P

One thing I can appreciate of Kirk's death in Generations...
His whole career he's been decorated for his heroics, and his friends and crew and all of the Federation know this legendary hero...
But he dies on a planet with just one other guy, no-one sees it, no-one notices, and because of it 8 million people in the Viridian system survive, proving he was utterly the hero we knew him to be, makingna difference because it's the right thing to do, not because of glory or fame

That could have worked. But truth is Brent Spiner requested Data be killed because Brent was showing his age and Data being an android shouldn't age, basically he was getting too old to continue playing the role.
