    With the return of The Mandalorian season 2 to Disney+, I felt it was about time to also return to a Star Wars theory. In a previous theory, I talked about how the Jedi could be construed as an 'evil' order. Today, I'm taking that kind of idea and flipping it to talk about the Empire itself! I think The Mandalorian provides us with even more clues that the Empire may not be as wrong in it's philosophy as we thought! How? Why? Well Theorists, make sure you Baby Yoda is somewhere safe because this is about to take a turn to the dark side...

      Alderaan was also separatist. Granted, that could just be a 51% attack on every other political view on the planet, but at least 51% of the people voted in a separatist government and were not innocent in the Empire's eyes.
      Also, Alderaan had a small population, Obi-Wan only says that "millions of voices" were silenced. It depends on how you're counting, but earth currently has billions of inhabitants.

    About the empire and the ewoks, I'm not sure about current canon, but in legends the ewoks and the empire were certainly not on good terms by the time the rebels got there. This one elderly ex-stormtrooper even recounts the events like a survival horror story, slowly losing more and more members of his platoon to the dreaded ewoks. In the end when he was captured, he begged for the rebels to take him instead of leaving him to the ewoks.

They’re either normal conscripted people from the Galaxy, or clones that are loyal to the empire’s cause of social order. There's zero cohesiveness in expanded universe content honestly. One author can be brainwashed by the movie's with the propaganda that the empire is this evil malevolent force. So they'll write their stories as such. The other author can see the movies for what they are and pay more attention to create consistent narratives. I can see why Disney wanted to just throw it all out into the trash even though I completely disagree with how they did it.

    I watched the prequel for the first time a couple days ago and I couldn’t stop thinking about how anakin and emperor Palpatine we’re a textbook pairing of NPD (narcissistic personality disorder, Palpatine) and BPD. It’s cool to hear that someone officially came out and gave a anakin the bpd diagnosis because I was like this is a near textbook example of how narcissistic grooming and bpd often coincide. I wonder if the author did it on purpose or accident. Had Palpatine not groomed anakin since the day he met him, he would have turned out a lot different. As well as if the Jedi hadn’t constantly trivialized anakins emotions and experiences, they really Villianized him for existing which put him in a position that allowed the empower to swoop in. It was so hard to watch because bpd is such a stigmatized and misunderstood disorder, it’s hard to look at someone like anakin and recognize that he was really a victim since childhood as well as a villain.

The republics dollar is so weak you couldn’t even use it to buy basic things. Has no real option off the planet or for a better life, except for the fact he is a Jedi.
    (New Republic) Rey: spends her entire life saving up enough money to buy a single ticket off Jakku. Lives in a tent and eats bread almost exclusively. Has no public services, must know how to defend herself at all times, and must carry a weapon at all times. No real option off her planet, except that she is stumbled upon by a resistance fighter.
    (Empire) Luke: Works on a farm with his family most of the time. Works part time in the city and is able to afford a speeder and, should he reach into his savings, a ticket off his planet whenever he needs. Organized crime is present on the planet, but isn’t nearly as omnipresent like with Anakin. Slavery is non existent in the average Tatooinian small business. (A solid improvement over Anakin) He has multiple options to get off the planet, such as saving up for a ticket and getting a job off planet, joining the Stormtrooper corps, joining or the Imperial Navy.

So they are not doing so well with their task, all that the Empire did was to replace one evil with another. Workers and engineers in the game of the last Jedi noted that during the Republic they were doing much better, keep in mind that the Empire / Republic had tens of millions of planets. The empire simply drove away the small bandits, and legalized slavery, began to cooperate with a major criminal sinicat. The empire is good only in management, but not in ensuring the lives of people and security. I'm not saying that they used the xenos as slaves.
      In general, democracy in the Far Galaxy is rather primitive

The mandalorians fought the empire not because it was the empire, but rather because they wanted independence. They wanted it since before the prequels, but never really got it. All they wanted was to govern themselves, and because of this, their homeland was massacred and their culture nearly wiped out.

    Under the Old Republic, Naboo, which was a system so important that it had a Senate seat, only had a small starfighter corps and some royal militia as their defense force, and they had to pay for that out of pocket. Under the Empire, Tatooine, a planet so insignificant that Luke describes it as the planet that's the farthest from the center of civilization, had two Imperial-Class Star Destroyers and a large Stormtrooper garrison protecting it. Under the Republic, a crime lord like Jabba the Hutt practically ruled like a sovereign over Tatooine, but under the Empire, he can't walk around outside without a group of bounty hunters protecting him, lest the local Imperials decide to pick him up for "questioning". It goes to show the difference of how secure you can be under the Empire, as opposed to the Old Republic.

      THIS. 100%. The Empire - the legitimate government of the wider galaxy - unlike its predecessor does not abandon its People. It establishes the rule of law without exception no matter where you live. The people of the Outer Rim now have free trade, the rule of law enforced by the Imperial Military, the Imperial Academies, an Imperial policing presence that means the criminal and the corrupt can no longer prey on the People. The gangsters can no longer operate with impunity. Slavery is no longer practised brazenly on Tatooine. The Imperials also establish a Sound galactic currency (the Imperial Credit) that is universally accepted currency galaxy wide. No doubt backed by a set number of Twilek females for good measure.

They were perfectly content for years to allow slavery to be practised in the open ("The Republic doesn't exist out here. We must fend for ourselves"), for the gangsters to rein free and act brazenly in the open, for levels of corruption beyond imagination, to live lavish lifestyles and hold endless debates going nowhere whilst the galaxy suffered, and indeed for an innocent Naboo system to be subject to an occupation by a Corporation! A corporation that they had no problem with holding a seat in the august Senate itself despite not being an elected representative of a galactic world! The Emperor was not a perfect being by any means - he might have brought his personal issues with the Jedi into the policy agenda too much, he might have had a soft spot for certain Moffs and big statement policies versus the Vader style meritocracy, but one thing you have to give him is he stood up to corruption, he served the People as their legitimate leader and he made it a top priority to bring Galactic Law to the entire galaxy without exception.

      Don't quote me on this, but IIRC that line that Tarkin stated that you quoted was after Tarkin had lost his son and become far more cruel in keeping order than he was before the death of his son.

    • @Animalace3
      @Animalace3 3 роки тому +1

      @Robert Allan Hmm, I guess I'll have to explain more. Before the death of his son, he was actually well liked and didn't really beat down civilians through fear. I said what I did to state that Tarkin went off the deep end after his son died. Does it justify anything? Of fucking course not. It's rather hard to justify suppressing the people through sheer power without very good reasons (which is nigh impossible). Just stating the cause for why he did what he did.

    So I'm kinda understanding the empire feeling toward the republic. So I work in a warehouse. I hand out the equipment needed through out the day as well as other tasks. I just got promoted. So our chain of command is structured with of course the front of the house. Where they deal with customers/order issues/etc. The command structure is broken down by 1 head boss and then 2 guys under him. I'm one of the 2 now(from what I was told I was already at that spot 2 months ago). Then 4-6 supervisor that run 2-1 departments each them self. So obviously I needed training and for a point I did have to listen to them. They did everything they could to see me fail. They resisted change. Helped with nothing and never directly made effort to improve the overall cohesiveness for the worker. Even if I offered up an idea they would say then you do it. In the beginning I did but then I realized they take credit and my rank would fall. So I started saying no. They disrespected me and mainly our company. So now that I just got phased in last week I will take control and in force change to make things overall easier for everyone. I also have to watch my back cause I know they will do what they can to see me fail. It's sad that we had to go to this type of dictoratorship but really they act/are that stupid to govern themselves. Now they look at me like I'm a villain. They (the supervisor w/o a overall boss/over seer) ran it and allowed the place to go 14mill USD debt. Now I'm the bad guy. It makes me sad that they see me like that. I'm a product of there failures and I'm here to help. They see me as an asshole. I try to talk to them and work with them. They don't work with me and tell me do this or do that. Drive me to my breaking and yelling at them point to flinch. I guess one of two things are gonna happen. 1 I get demoted or 2 the company overall will do better. Time will tell. I wish we could all work together but we'll see.

    Using death star was smart idea in the end.
    If rebellion did not undermine power of Death Star by cheap shotting it through an exhaust port with the force (like point out a small exhaust port for a huge station amazing because that thing would of hath made a lot of exhaust back to the point) the Death star would have scared of large scale pirating or criminals from controlling a world if risk of controlling a world through crime is punish by the world be blow up would stomp almost all crime empires.

    Well, there was a reason why the Empire was so popular in its early days; it really *did* follow up on its promises to root out the corruption and incompetence of the old Republic. And, quite frankly, I myself do genuinly believe the Empire could have had the potential to be a great force for good... IF only its sole autocrat wasn't evil incarnate and hadn't designed the Empire to be unable to function without him and his tyranny.
    Not to mention the New Republic was sooooo utterly incompetent the sequels happened. They were literally to complacent and indecisive to stop the blatant rise of the more evil First Order.

    • @sharilshahed6106
      @sharilshahed6106 3 роки тому +33

      Here's the thing, The Empire was run by some more effective people, but was filled incompetent and corrupt ones, while ruled by a megalomaniac emperor with grand ambitions that were more impractical than anything. Like, two death star, strip mining planets for resources and enslaving, subjugating and committing mass genocide (even before said Death Stars) were things that were just going on in the first 5 years, albeit mostly in the outer rims.
      While the worst thing the New Republic did was just being the same ignorant neutral as the old republic, while giving way to the rise of the First Order. They were neither ideal nor horrendous examples as made out of. One could ask for a better regime, but definitely not the Empire or sorts.

    • @ALookIntoTheEulenspiegel
      @ALookIntoTheEulenspiegel 6 місяців тому

      Not really, no.
      The USA literally started as a rebellion.
      In fact. almost every single western country right now, has formed its current government through some kind of rebellion or another.
      Rebellions in Africa and the Middle-east, places where such things still happen today, are usually very morally complex and the rebels are very rarely portrayed as flat out evil, unless they're something like ISIS.
      Unless you mean: the rebels are portrayed as evil by the government they are trying to overthrow. In which case: well yeah, of course they would.

    Tarkin is actually part of the canon continuity, not legends and The Guns of Kelrodo-Ai IS part of Legends, same for The Essential Guide to Warfare. Also the state of the new republic is very different depending on which continuity you look at, in legends (the continuity you claim Tarkin is part of), the republic actually ended up going really well. In canon, you could say otherwise.
