short story, those transfers were the reason. While I don't lay it at the feet of those players instead of management, these players completely ruined the payroll structure and came into a club and wrecked the hierarchy in the locker room.
Jesse is a cool dude, during his (short) stint at Leipzig he randomly showed up in a supporters pub one day and had a beer with the fans. Heard similar stories from his time in Salzburg. Not a whole lot of managers do that nowadays. Sadly tactics-wise he's a one-trick pony and completely freezes up when his approach is countered 😕

You thread the needle nicely here, and I can definitely see elements of Tac & Ellis’ perspectives on it and I applaud you for speaking with them both. You pretty much summed it up perfectly. Marsch was not 100% to blame, but his rigid (and ineffective) tactics and lack of adjustments got found out quickly and you did well to point out that his constant optimism got incredibly tiresome, even for an American Leeds supporter who wanted this to succeed badly. That being said, the board should bear the majority of the blame. For not sacking Marsch sooner, for letting him get his players in and giving him one game past the transfer window and then sacking him, for not buying a LB and a ST (which we all knew we needed all the way back in the summer heading into that season), not shoring up a horrible back line, firing Marsch without having a realistic replacement lined up…the list goes on and on. Thankful this chapter is over. Looking forward to Wembley and heading back where we belong!
but look how far March got Canada in the Copa America semi finals in your first tournament despite international management isn’t as full on it’s still pretty crazy
All American "superstars" that come to the Premier league flop, Pulisic had almost 100 games and only scored 20 goals, Mckennie was probably one the worst and slowest midfielders in the premier league, Aaronson historic leeds transfer record was the worst rated premier league player of the season e.t.c 😂
And now here he is managing our national side. Just got his first win today at the Copa America, but oh my. Hopefully he's fully learned from his mistakes at Leeds😬
We will have to see on this one. Canada's Soccer team plays like Leeds. They can outplay and out chance opponents but can't score, and then give up stupid chances. Exactly how they lost to Uruguay and Suarez score in the 92 minute. I'm hoping that he has learned to adjust his tactics when time calls for it.
Thanks for the video, as a Leeds fan this was a pretty accurate depiction of what went on that season, March was terrible he had no clue about how to change a formation to get the best out the team, he went from a team who all the best players were wingers to the narrow "Penis" formation as we all called it, I can't put all the blame on him he should have been replaced long before he was sacked.
He did change things up, it didn't matter because your #9 was terrible and the only other scoring option was jack harrison, who couldn't score. Then your Center backs were completely terrible and you were relying on a 22 year old 120lb. midfielder to carry.
Atlético de Madrid tried doing the same thing with previous club Club San Luis Potosí by turning it into atlético de San Luis (liga mx club). I used to believe that they new atlético club would compete head to head with the other teams in liga mx but it turned into a failure that is usually around 13-15th place. They would be easily relegated when promotion and relegation potentially comes back to liga mx when the liga mx expansion (league 2) goes to fifa to sue liga mx and FMF for monopoly or something else.

Marsch’s arrogance set the perception of US soccer back a decade. People claimed bielsa forced a style of football when in reality it was the style that best fit his players. He brought in big club rejects with decent technical ability but athletic deficiencies and created a way for them to be effective against the biggest teams England. Marsch came in, took Bielsa recruits and ran an advanced zonal press that required athletes. The results were ultimately disastrous and he often blamed players after losses.
Having survived the Marsch era personally, I'd agree he only had a set style but that's a lot of managers tbf. I think his biggest mistakes were making comments regarding Bielsa's training methods, accusing him of "over training" players, it pissed off a lot of Leeds fans and was used as a stick to beat him with when some players seemed like they couldn't go 100% for 90 minutes. He also made some rather interesting training ground changes, removing player rest facilities to build a larger press conference room was a very bold choice in the summer and again left some people feeling he was out of touch. I do genuinely believe he could make a good international manager though, he talks a good game and does seem like he can motivate a team at times, hope Canadian fans are ready to hear how "the goal is in the middle of the pitch" to justify a narrow playing style though.

As an American Leeds supporter, I threw my hands up when they hired Marsch. Under another manager, the we might have had a chance, but Marsch’s “system” was doomed from the off. And the Ted Lasso thing, it’s just insulting to Lasso. At least Ted learned a lesson and made wholesale changes to his tactics. Jesse was too busy playing Tony Robbins.

He seems like a great human but lord hid style just doesn’t work sadly
The jokes top tier in this one.
I do tend to resonate with f*ck America humor
jesse marsch's tenure was the worst experience i've had watching leeds
What about the Javi gracia era
40:06 it did age poorly
the jinxer did it again!
Dusty Rhodes turned into Cody Rhodes?
Wait, American??? Nightmare????? reminds me of Cody
Can I get a Napoli video describing what happened to their title defense? Literally nobody is talking about it
10k in only 2 hours , one of the goats was never gone
"Jesse! Jesse! we need to keep Leeds in the premier league Jesse!"
Missed an opportunity to say Leeds United States of America
I thought the American nightmare was cody Rhodes?
They should have free shipping for jerseys to the US for more support. That ended up being the reason I didn't buy one lol.
Ok but I still love Jesse Marsch ❤🇨🇦
An American manager that hops around 5 leagues then makes it to the prem and think motivation and 1 tactic will work.... sounds like an FM save gone wrong lol
100% accurate
I hate it when people use gran turismo music in their unrelated videos , these tracks are above of that 25:49
Hearing Trincao's name after such a long time shellshocked me. That Wolves team was made up of half Barcelona loanees & half Portuguese players
I think these two years are gonna put a bad taste of Americans in English teams mouths. Leeds got regulated, Nottingham on the edge of regulation, and Fulham bottom of the table.
4 views in 1 minute? Bro fell off 💀💀💀
Can you just shut up?
Never thought I'd see loggie bear in a maqwell video
DONT YOU DARE DISS ON MY BOY THE PHILADELPHIA UNION LEGEND BRENDAN AARONSON
Then crazy thing is in Ted Lasso the Richmond Way was that he would change tactics and they would succeed 😭😭
Who would have thought that getting involved with the San Francisco 49ers would result in soaring hope that quickly turns into soul-crushing disappointment?
Streets won’t forget Janos Balazs
Didn't they just make the Playoffs Final?
Yeah
I believe the signing of Big Sam was because Javi Gracia has such a bad reaction to losing to Bournemouth that they felt they had to sack him
Nice video. Would you consider doing more content on german football?
Walmart los blancos has me dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You’re speaking for all of Charlotte on that one, smh. Fuck I-77 😂 29:43
The United States of Leeds 🇺🇲
3:39 As spmeone that speaks German natively, this sounds like dutch😂
Wait whats Maqwell doing talking about Cody Rhodes... Oh its about leeds? Yeah that makes more sense
San Marino part 2 where?
Great video. Walmart Los Blancos has me wheezing. Keep up the good work.
Well Leeds didn't get promoted, so yuuuuuup.
My team (Luton Town_ will have an interesting time with them
