- England won Euro 2016 after defeating Portugal in the Parc de princes in front of a crowd of moths and some spectators. Jack Wilshere proudly lifted the trophy as he proved all the doubters wrong scoring a hat trick.

Admit it, this video appears in your recommendations after England losing to Iceland in a recent friendly match.
You don't know how painful this is to watch as an England fan.
To see our humiliation laid out, to remember what it was to watch that game, to remember the hope and belief we had (especially after the first goal) and not to disagree with a single word in this video.
Our media is so bad 🤧

Watching this after they just lost to Iceland again
As an Englishman, I specifically remember this game because I watched in a pub, with my German girlfriend and her German family, who spent the entire game gloating whilst I had my head in my hands downing my beers as fast as I could, losing a bit of sanity every time I watched Harry Kane step up to take a corner, praying that the alcohol would help erase my memory in the morning... It didn't, it was one of the worst moments of my life to this day
As someone who's into femdom teasing, I would've loved to be in your shoes for that game if not for the "her whole family" bit! 😂 Jokes aside, I'm not even English, but if the 2 of you are still together, I'm sure you had plenty of opportunities to gloat back at her for the clownshow group stage exits Germany pulled off at the last 2 world cups...
I saw this being recommended today coming
This aged so well.
(Today is June 8th 2024)
ICELAND DID IT AGAIN (in a friendly though.)
Ita happened again but in a friendly 😂
The problem for England is that the quest for a trophy has become akin to a search for the holy grail. It just means too much. We as a consequence do better when nobody expects us too. If you aren't from England or a football fan you will never understand this fact.
Or how you consider your matter to be fact. Trivial
So what you’re saying is, now that they have expectations for the 2022 WC, they’re going to fail miserably? 😂
Bruh, I'm Brazilian and here the expectations are always sky high, if the Brazilian team doesn't win the world cup the we'll be know as an absolute failure
For Brazil to win the world cup it probably be a good idea to not lose 7-1 lmao
@@GuilhermeSouza-ux4jqyes, but I think English people jinx it themselves bc they invented football so they feel ashamed they aren't good at it, while Brazilians have great expectations bc they have had periods of absolute dominance. Brazilians put pressure on themselves bc they have been already great while English people put pressure on themselves bc they have never been great. English players have never seen anyone English accomplish what they are trying to accomplish so they gas themselves up to have confidence and end up bottle it bc of that.
Living in England. I remember this whole tournament because I told everyone I knew in my school Iceland would win and they all laughed at me. The next day after the game. Everyone was looking like I was responsible for the loss. I didn't care because I support portugal. And we won. I do remember wales vs england in school it was like a fucking stampede of the other classes coming running down the corridor after the winner.
Whenever the Icelandic players reflect on the 2016 Euros the one thing they all seem to agree on is that the England game was by far the easiest they played in the whole tournament. As soon as they took the lead they knew they were gonna win, because it didn't feel like England could do anything to seriously threaten them.
Yeah, when England takes a goal they are like less dangerous
And here we are 2 years later...
Seeing england fail in a tournament brings me one of many joys in life. So watch it, drink it in.

“When England lost 0-4 to Hungary in Nations League 2022”
Having watched Liverpool play for over 30 years, I have never seen my club ran so badly and so pathetically as when Roy Hodgeson took charge in 2010. He was an absolute disaster, inherited a absolutey brilliant team from Benitez, which he started to sell off and bring in horrendous average signings. Turning a real European force at the time into some mid table scrapping results team who he had playing negative defensive football. Hodgson is good if you want to avoid relegation, if you want to win anything though you better look elsewhere. He was promoptly fired after just 7 months in charge, one of the worst managers and the worst Liverpool manager I have ever seen.
And the FA thought this guy would be great to manage a team of superstars...
Fellow Liverpool fan here, I think you're overstating it a bit. When clueless Woy took over, we just finished 7th and had sold Xabi Alonso. That's far from the European force we were under Rafa. I do agree with you though, Roy is out of his depth at any top club
@@stevendchu He did do a decent job at Inter, bringing stability to a club that badly needed it and just nearly missing out on a Scudetto and th UEFA Cup

He was actually pretty good for Finland. We played for our lack of strengths, and made it as close to a major tournament as we ever had. But I’ve never seen Hodgson be good with a good team.

@@ElMarcoHoJ that's completely illogical. Odds are with this squad there is a high chance of England winning the euros or world cup within the next 10-20 years. As horrible as 2016 was...it needed to happen. And now, well, love or hate Southgate, he's made England a good team. Even if we're not at the level we'd like them to be.
He’s too conservative for my liking. I genuinely think that with a bit more aggression, we could have beaten Italy at Euro 2020 and within 90 minutes at that. However, not sure who would do better.

The Icelandic commentator looks like this is the culmination of his life’s work
brilliant thank you for this
Can we just point out the stupidity in Alexi Lalas’ comment at 4:29 …
I’m a Costa Rican - American, and I can tell you right from the get-go, that the only 2 teams in 1st division England that a MLS side can beat are Norwich and MAYBE Burnley or Newcastle, and even then, they’ll be in trouble because Rashica will probably shred past every MLS defender at that point. Hell, when you think about it, Fulham, who are in 2nd division, can probably smack New England Revolution at minimum 3-0.
Don’t get me wrong, MLS talent has improved DRASTICALLY over the years, but to me and possibly others, its like a retirement league, just like Japan’s, South Korea’s, China’s and Turkey’s
You watched Norwich play in the championship? They would make mincemeat of MLS defences
I'd even say many of the upper third of the Segunda Division of Spain probably could smash the MLS teams open.

When england lost to iceland in the last friendly game before the euros 2024
I'm with you, I can't stand my country's media on our team. I know it's one thing to be passionate but we're so obnoxiously going on about how our team is so great just to suffer the same heartbreak. I wish they put the same heart towards actually creating a system where we could be just as good as Brazil or France of present day.
I hate how Southgate is staying when we could have had Pochettino as England manager, he said he wanted the job and he's managed a top Spurs side and PSG.
As an american with friends from England and having lived there (ok it was birmingham. Have a laugh), the fact that england has the pieces to win a title. It’s just bad managing.
Example: France v England in the WC QF. WHY THE F*CK did they take out bukayo saka when he was the most dangerous player on the pitch!?

Even when the tournament is done in a way that favors England, they still manage to lose like in euro 2020.
Plenty of countries host football tournaments and do well that’s a stupid argument tbh
I think honestly Iceland is just an underdog team that is tough and dont get enough credit for beating England and managing a draw against Argentina in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
