Behringer fanboy confirmation bias is out of control in these comments. The SH-101 sounds 1000 times better than the MS-1/101 when comparing the two in front of you as opposed to listening to UA-cam videos. The MS-1 is a decent synth in its own right for $400 and certainly capable of producing cool sounds. If you put the Behringer up against the Roland there is no comparison. For those of us who grew up in the 80's and 90's using the SH-101 and listening to endless records made with them, we immediately recognize the sound of one and can detect the imitation. @@motoboy6666 Unless filters are like wine and get better with age, I don't think age is big part of the difference in sound in this case. I can clearly hear that the SH is far more wet and fat. The MS has some fatness but it's more wooly than warm.
These comparisons have no meaning. Even the closest clone you can imagine can't be compared to a 40 years old original device, all components are aging. Even the original SH101 like the MS-20 or any other synth was known to sound differently from one series to another. It is stupid to take such comparison as a precise and objective tool. You don't have a time machine to test the behringer clone against a SH101 that will be just go out of the factories in 1982... So keep this in mind. All components are aging, so an original SH 101 from 1982/86 DON'T sound like a brand new one in 82/86... It even has been repaired, with components that are not the original ones. Taking at face value such comparison is stupid. Scientifically this has no meaning. Perhaps the behringer is sounding nearest to the original machine than the old SH 101 used in this video. Never forget that point.
@@_EightySix Well its pretty objective, but to me the raw waveforms are pretty spot on. Noise is different, and its a big part of the 101 sound. I’ll still have enough money left over to buy three more m-1’s even if it didn’t last three years, but in all honesty the transistors, potentiomètres and soldered circuit connections are what it comes down to
what is up, with behringer it keep releasing synths, it is copy cat of other brands of synths it doesn't make sense. like if some has original song then some makes cover with bad sounds

ms1 almost sounds a little fatter tbh, theres definitely more bass
Get the f outta here. "sounds fatter." "More bass." How much is Behringer paying you?
You know what two things don’t sound the same? These two synths in this video.
i agree, and thats what i find funny about these clone synths, theyre releasing heaps of synths with almost the same features but without even really sounding all that faithful to the originals. But they must be selling well cos they keep making them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Think age can be a factor here
@@motoboy6666 Unless filters are like wine and get better with age, I don't think age is big part of the difference in sound in this case.
Either than that, the ms-1 sounds a bit mer poliched/new, by a tad, again the 101 is an 35 year old synth. Saying that the synth are far from each other are pretty daft to me.
both sounds awful
I noticed my SH 101 still works after 37 years. You might get 37 months out of a Behringer
I have Behringer neutron from January and some pots are already scratchy/noisy..
I’ll still have enough money left over to buy three more m-1’s even if it didn’t last three years, but in all honesty the transistors, potentiomètres and soldered circuit connections are what it comes down to
@@piercemcintyre1327 That s way I am considering to expand eurorack with the neutron as starter point..
stefanos kollias electrical lubricant can help clean your pots, they don’t just wear out that fast.
My Deepmind is still working strong after 1.5 years and some mild gigging.
Behringer MS1 better
MS more warm
you are talking bullshit... you have no clue
5:38 💦
what is up, with behringer it keep releasing synths, it is copy cat of other brands of synths it doesn't make sense. like if some has original song then some makes cover with bad sounds
Wow, man. That was profound.
@@_EightySix amazing grammar to complement that amazing statement too! LOL
There are a lot of people who can't afford a $1200 synth (that's almost 40 years old) but can swing a $350 one.
M P. It is true, buying cheaper when other synths are so expensive.
Roland and korg have mini synths so cheaper less that 500. Roland has release is own vintage synths into new minis synths they do same as the big synths
I bought the MS and sold it right away for cheap. Not even close to SH
@@Lamster66 Yes
@@Lamster66 I mean, the MS is great, amazing machine for the price. Sounds a bit different, the cutoff also. I am used to SH sounds, the reason of my comment. If you find an SH around 600e, it is a no brainer, if more, then go for the MS.
