- One of the largest indoor amusement parks in the world is located in Edmonton, Canada, at the West Edmonton Mall! The park is home to dozens of attractions, including 4 roller coasters. In this video, I take a look at the various aspects of the park to let you know what you won't want to miss should you choose to visit!

As an enthusiast from Calgary Canada, this park is pretty much my only viable option. Mindbender never gets old for me. I wish I lived closer to bigger parks, but it's nice having such a unique park so close to home.
I’m from Calgary as well and I can say the same. Also galaxy land is pretty nostalgic for me as I went there a lot years back.
You do have Calaway Park with a old Arrow Corkscrew, but that parks looks pretty outdated
@@sheeple04 True. There is a difference between classic and outdated, and Mindbender is certainly a classic while Vortex, the Corkscrew, is just outdated. Calaway Park is more of a family/kids oriented park, it does have some great flat rides but it's not really something to write home about.
Iv'e been to Calaway multiple times aswell, Honestly the rides there arent anything big. Vortex is jerky and rough and honestly the food is probably one of the only good things about Calaway.
Edmonton local here. Yeah... the next closest viable park for me is Silverwood. Calaway really needs some work before I would consider it again.
And when nearly all the shopping malls of the world have shut their doors this place will still be open for the rides
GarwoodNick and they have more room for rides
It’s also the only thing to really do in Edmonton
@@nexusfoxy6351 , not true.
Don’t forget the waterpark
covid19: Hold my beer.
Amusement park and waterpark are closed. The mall is open but most of the stores are closed.
It’s September time for some silver tickets 😂
Yaaas
I worked at the ropes course when it first opened at the original location by the waterpark. Great job, I loved it. Loved challenging guests who found the course too easy. Hate how the moved in g-land. Just looses its uniqueness and it's identity Shout out the original staff who I worked with! We had some good times!
Definitely loved it by the WWP it felt right In right in there and it made the space more nice and open. Sadly now it feels like the entrance is tucked behind shops and all and it really sucks
Galaxyland is my home park and you really hit the nail on the head with this review. About HAVOC's theme there's been rumors floating around that the park is gonna get a complete overhaul of the theme within the next few years. I wouldn't believe in these rumors to much though. But ya no Galaxyland bit of a hidden gem, and often underrated in the amusement park community so I'm glad you were impressed by it and enjoyed it. Keep up the great work thumbs up from the Great White North👍
Also shout out to BestEdmontonMall if anyone wants to learn about the west Edmonton mall the channel is full of amazing mini documentaries etc.
After 3 years the rumours where true and mindbender is gone, now has to themed and I do believe that when they added havoc a year before announcing the re theme as a hint or a way to make it fit into the re theme.
For the record, the one time I was there was 1991...it was pretty darn cool, even back then!
This place is so special to me. My parents use to take us all the time when we were kids. I come to this mall so often but haven’t been to galaxy land in like 13 years. I think ill go one of these days.
Everyone who lives in Edmonton knows every single sound and rattle in this place, and that's a fact. (proud edmontonian here)
It's so tacky, it's charming. I like it.
I love how you were surprised by it snowing in January. I live in fort McMurray (a couple of hours north of Edmonton) and it snows at the start of October and melts in may.
Mid-northern Alberta: where it snows half the year, rains one quarter, and is way too hot the rest of the time
The army men theme on Havoc now makes sense. They just branded in co-operation with Hasbro and are now moving to that theme park wide.
I recently visited and like you I had an amazing time, anyone who was thinking of going, Do it!
Really glad to have this as my home park.
Same... except i live on the other end of the city to it xP
@@kirbysuperstaruhh3769 that's still lucky. I have to go three hours for the nearest amusement park, and would kill to have one in my town
Same
Go Flames Go
@@Adam-rx5fr nah go oilers
You definitely need to come to Minnesota and check out Valley fair and Nickelodeon universe! Renegade at valley fair will definitely surprise you.
Vortex is leaving kings island
Rip vortex
Going to La Ronde
Beluga Productions is it really going to la ronde
@@Chief985yt No. La Ronde is getting the ZacSpin that was at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Unfortunately Vortex will mostly likely get scrapped.
I know that but idk
Jarret Stroud it was just random. Kings island just removed firehawk for a giga
Where there is no more need for shopping malls, the indoor amusement parks will rise higher.
Or it'll be considered a tourist novelty within basically.
My main problem is IT IS VERY LOUD IN THERE!!!
While Edmonton is “far out”, we have pretty decent travel. If you’re coming from the US, tickets are decent. Across the country... Good luck. XD but once you’re actually here you can get to the mall fairly easily
yeah! my boyfriend had me really disappointed when he said there were no amusement parks anywhere near where he lives (he is from calgary and i'm from the states)! this place looks so awesome tho i can't believe he didn't mention it. tbh even if it's an indoor park and really unique, it still has better coaster selection than i do at my home park (frontier city in OK). when i'm staying in canada, i'll have to make sure we take a trip. :P
@@NaraKwonPoD how did he not mention Galaxy Land?
The army men theme is because Hasbro has now partnered with galaxyland and that was the start of the Hasbro themes. it's supposed to be a G.I. Joe I believe
Went there for the first time this summer, really impressed with the coasters and space management. Did you try out the water park as well, I remember that being awesome.
I never went to the waterpark
@@dominicbeqiekeh4708 you should try it some time, you’ll love it if you like watersides.
My home park! Edmonton local here.
Me too!
Go Flames Go
@@Adam-rx5fr wtf did you just say?!?!?!
@@lospolloshermanos69 oilers fan?
My home park. I remember the last time i went here was for a school trip for grade 9 grad in junior high and i had a blast
GALAXYLAND!??? For a FEILD TRIP!!! Sign me up???? Lmao. That must’ve been awesome, idk how my teachers would be able to keep track of all the kids if I had that kinda field trip, but it would be awesome if my school did the same, that way my mum could come with me since I’ve got a pass.
The water park is really good tho
thelegend200319 I agree!! You can do waterslides in the dead of winter. How cool is that?
It's gross as hell but It's also so much fun and the snacks are amazing
Dude!
You do not know what I will pay to ride that coaster in your intro!
😍oh that Airtime😍👍🎢
Yes, but does it have a super high intensity coaster based on Pepsi and the color Orange?
Zac G Pepsi orange Streak is not intense at all
@@spaceistheplace2293 wooooooshhhh....
Zac G some people that hang out on this channel aren’t the smartest sometimes. Hard to tell if someone is joking or just dumb
That's because the ride was re-themed to Nickelodeon when the park was rethemed, I believe the ride was called "Nickelodeon Streak" and the trains were repainted orange. I went to the park before and after the Nick retheme and honestly liked it a lot better before, things were much more subtle.
mall of america doesnt have a giant waterpark with over 18 water slides
They have a deal with Hasbro that was announced last month. So thats why they theme is getting some make over.
Hey Taylor, the type of ride havick is is like a KMG Move It or a Top Star Tour by Sariani & Moser (and Zamperla). They are even more insane (check out Transformer on the German kirmesses)
Havoc is themed to GI Joe. It was actually a teaser for the Hasbro theme that they are switching to.
2:07 watch your head
I live in Edmonton and galaxy land and west Edmonton mall is just 15 minutes away from me and I LOVE galaxy land and the mall in general
yay im going here again this saturday for my bday
I have been there but I went to look cause I was on vacation and we didin’t really plan to go there and also like you mentioned It is far away from were I live I am from Ottawa so ya
Havoc has that theme because Hasbro is taking over the park's theme and we assume it'll be something related to G.I. Joe!
I wanna go, it’s been forever since I was at a theme park, the last time I was at one was about 5 weeks ago! I need to go again!!!
When are the Sesame Place and Dutch Wonderland reviews coming out?
I remember going here for the Japan exchange program. Good times, we all got ice cream, I fell asleep in the Ld Spaghetti Factory, I went on the Space Shot for the first time, one girl went on the Mind Bender three times in a row, It was great.
Wow😍😍👍
I love how u discribed this
I’m going to Galaxy Land for my birthday party 🙂
Can you do a video on speculating what Kings Island is going to do when they remove vortex
I'll answer that question for you: There isn't a lot of space where vortex was so probably a RMC single rail or one of the compact Gerstlauer coasters. None of these are at Cedar Point, so they both make sense. Nothing else really does make a ton of sense.
@@ulosttomedesigns518 What about something like Xcelerator at Knotts, or Stealth at Thorpe?
@@ulosttomedesigns518 Personally i think that a MACK Multi-Launch could fit, bit less like Copperhead but more like a smaller Helix, interacting with the terrain in the area
I live in NB Saskatchewan middle of no where and we go to Edmonton every year or 2 and it’s true that it’s tough to go there if you don’t live near edmonton or even in canada
I want to go to Galaxyland very badly, and I also wish there were more great parks in canada
man im a super coaster junkie and would ride anything i wish i could go out and explore as many parks and rides as you do
Rip vortex
The weird theming is because Galaxyland recently partnered with Hasbro!
havoc is insanely fun but try being stuck on
it for over 45 mins.😂
I’m a confirmed repeat visitor if I say so myself lol. We get a yearly pass each year for the summer and winter and on others occasions. I live about 40 minutes away from west Edmonton mall, so my parents (normally my dad) drives me and my siblings there normally, since I’m in summer break right now. (Ps, my siblings are getting really bored of it, too bad for them I guess 😂)
GALAXY LAND ROCKS!!
Come to the mall of America and let me know when i can show u around lol we get a eurofighter
The army men theme for that ride is because they are now branding it under Hasbro if I'm not mistaken. Gi joe it was basically.
"no other amusement parks nearby" *cries in Calaway park*
Sure it’s a 5 hour drive for me but it’s worth it!!
Fun fact: they’re partnering with Hasbros now. Idk how I feel about it
I was planning on going there next winter, but then they announced that Mindbender was closing. Depending on what they add next and when they add it, so much for that.
Place has doubled in size over the years as more and more stores left they took over. That is why you see some rides in old store fronts. Back when I was going there was before the accident. And it was a lot smaller place back then. I don't believe its still run by the mall like it used to be either.
Are you going to give your in depth thoughts about vortex and the future of kings island??
Yes
this is my home park! i live 400km north of Edmonton too!
Cool amusement park!!!😄❤👍
Ok, the park has re-opened, but limited hours. Also, the Dragon Wagon is gone. Plus you can't walk into the park anymore from any direction right now. You must come in through the main entrance and get a ticket. All the other entrances are locked. And not all the rides are in operation
Yo Taylor. Did you know the space shot actually replaced an intamin first gen free fall tower. It closed in 2002
Just so people know the same company who owns this mall are the same people who own the MOA in Minnesota and the soon to be American Dream in NJ
I could actually go back! Been years since I’ve been there.
Soo I took my kids to West Edmonton Mall last year. I found out that Galaxyland is now Hasbro themed and there is A GIANT Rainbow Dash figure in the kid area.
Can you do like an analysis of the water park expansion of dorney CSU’s sim really confused on what’s going on there
*cause I’m 😂
And I oop sksksks and I oop
The theme was never fully done right. It was fantasyland but Disney had an issue and the mall had a very short time to change the theme so they had to come up with something, so it was galexyland, you can also see how some of the original rides never got to be incorporated into the new theme. Dragon wagon and havoc are new not sure why they did not change the name to fit into the space theme. Also the themes is 25 years old
Yes finally
3:50 there becoming sponsored by hasbro so all or most rides will have a toy theme to them soon that ones G.I Joe
ua-cam.com/video/JXbxJizkpJU/v-deo.html
I live in Canada
Been there many times.
/Davis/I've been on the obiter before and the other two rides except for the minebender
Nice review Taylor!
Ive been here this summer bust to ride mindbender and its def worth it
Went on a visit a few years ago and really liked it. Of course the Mindbender was badass and intense. If you have a weekend and some mileage it's worthwhile. The World Water Park is also fantastic. The rest of the mall is a mall, so meh.
It’s awesome
I always see galaxsyland as an theme park due to its space themeing
Are you going to make a vid on vortex
Red Gaming yes
Coaster Studios nice
I live in Edmonton close to west Edmonton mall
So I’m guessing Mindbender wasn’t CLOSED FOR RAIN
Visit playland in Vancouver
Valid review
I went to galaxyland in March and I heard the mindbender
I would like to point out there is a small park Just outside of Calgary that is open in the summer and only a few hours drive away
Bro one time my dad lied about my age and brought me into the haunted house when I was like eight because I'm tall and he thought I would be fine. I was not fine, I went into a shutdown and couldn't talk for a few days afterwards because my eight year old autistic pea brain couldn't handle how loud and terrifying it was :/ Also I live in Edmonton and really miss going to Galaxy land lol
(just to confirm, I'm actually autistic and not just using it as a way to insult myself, please don't do that it's ablest and gross)
The reason for the army men is because Galaxy Land and it's alien mascot is phasing out, as Hasbro is now sponsor of the park (unbeknownst to the general public until recently) and now every ride is being renovated to be toy-ish, like Mr. Potato Head, My Little Pony, etc.
The real news: Vortex is closing at Kings island, meaning KI is probably getting a new coaster in 2021.
I doubt they'll get one that soon. Orion is supposed to open in 2020. If they get a new coaster to fill that spot, it'll probably be a couple years down the line.
@@matthewjohnson427 There is no other reason to take vortex out. The thing about it reaching the end of its service life is crap, and it was a pretty popular coaster.
@@ulosttomedesigns518 I don't know the real reason they would take Vortex out, so I'll have to take them at their word. But parks generally don't spend millions of dollars on a giga coaster and then spend millions on another coaster the following year. Typically, they build a coaster, wait a few years, and then invest in another major attraction. There's usually a flat ride or some kind of minor upkeep thing in between. So unless it's a family coaster, I wouldn't expect anything on that front until maybe around 2023.
@@matthewjohnson427 What you're forgetting is that Orion is smaller than the other gigas and therefore cheaper. This could explain why they didnt build the record breaking coaster everyone was expecting
@@ulosttomedesigns518 It totally could be. My assumption was that they went on the cheaper side so that they could spend more money on upgrading the surrounding area. We'll have to see what the park does.
Im going there next summer
Me who has been here so many times with my family and friends since I live in the area: *sees video* hmm interesting
I'll be surprised if both the waterpark and theme park at west changes
Big Rips to the Dragon Wagon
West edmonton mall is great, but theres a lot more to the city than just the mall.
When will you visit the American Dream Mall here in NJ that opens next month?
Moobles1 hopefully in December
I WILL HAVE MY BIRTHDAY HERE!
Wow
My flex is living an hour away from this place
Could you do a coaster parody of Mindbender? (Or any of the other coasters at Galaxyland?) :)
I don’t think so unfortunately.
@@CoasterStudios What?!? Unacceptable.... JK. Thanks for the reply! :) Love your channel! :)
I live in Canada so ye 👈👈😎
Did you go to the water park? I hope you tried cyclone!
We did! We really enjoyed World Waterpark!
How does this compare, in your opinion to Nickelodeon Universe in a Mall Of America?
I live in Canada but I live in Toronto so not that close
I feel sorry for you, going to Edmonton in the winter is awful
