For the people that don't know: Even though there is space they can't expand their area because they are not getting the permission to do so (the locals are against it) so all they can do is replace rides etc., very unfortunate. Like, why move to an area with an amusement park nearby just to complain about it...

XvX_K1R1T0_XvX_ Killme Phantasialand offered them a lot of money but they don’t want to . They want to complain . There is even a ride which must be closed on Sunday and local holiday days since " people on a calm boat ride are way too loud "

These restrictions make it so unique! Taron would've probably been a normal, stretched-out ride without them.

Next week I will finally get there again. The experience 15 years ago was already great, and back when I was 6 this was a totally different park which was great in its own way. We have a couple of nice theme parks in Germany, but none is as great as Phantasialand. I live nearby Europa Park, definitely a great Park, but they definitely don't put as much effort into details, especially the queues for their biggest rides didn't receive much love unlike in Phantasialand.

The funniest Moment was the Breakdown on Winjas. We stopped in a Block section,my GP friends were freaking out like ohh the other train will Hit us! Then we went on and stopped in the next Block again. It was so funny. When I rode Mystery Castle, there were no scare actors in the Line. Well,I love this place, and you will too. The Problem with Temple of the Night Hawk is that the building it is in is also Home to the Parks evening Dinner Show "Fantissima", and as long as that doesn't get a new location (which could happen in Rookburgh, but I somehow doubt that) they won't do much with that building. And as rumors suggest simply removing the current coaster from it is supposedly also an Issue because the coasters support structure is, as the rumors say anyway, part of the buildings supporting structure. Known fact however is that if they ever tear down the building entire a new building can't be as high as the current one because of complaints from people living nearby. A new Ride there would have to either somehow fit in the current building, go very deep or doesn't require much height anyway.
Temple of the Night Hawk feels so long because it is actually the longest Indoor Coaster in the World. The Original Space Theme of the Ride was amazing.

    • @UP87
      @UP87 5 років тому +1

The new building can be as high or close to. Wuze Town and the Rookburgh wall are nearby and about the same height as the temple.

The Hollywood Tour is also in the same building. Plus the Temple (I still want to call it Space Center) is pretty tight-knit and doesn't take as much space within the building as one would think. But yeah, Brühl is loud about keeping the park as restrained as possible :(

It's unfortunate you didn't have much time to spend in the asian part of the park, they have one of my fav attractions, where the entire houuse you are in turns upside down while the people also get tilted to a certain degree.

Chiapas holds a special place for me. I went to Phantasialand with some friends during the spring break, and we loved Chiapas. After spring break, one of our teachers anounced that we'd be going there as a school trip in a few weeks. When we were there, there were barely any queues. I took a few decks of cards with me to make a funny picture and a friend brought some tape. We went on Chiapas to see where the picture was taken (the queue was literally empty) and afterwards, we taped some Uno cards to our hands and held them during the attraction. The picture was great and the people working there loved it.

I agree completely with your review. I have been visiting Phantasialand for more than 30 years. Hard to imagine that the Temple of the Night Hawk was supposed to be a spectacular coaster back when it opened. You had to wait in line for at least an hour. Now 1 minute max. Just goes to see how we have improved on coasters since then... It sadly pales in the face of all the other coasters, especially Taron, which is hands down my favorite coaster of the moment (probably will be surpassed by Untamed when it opens).

Taylor you need to visit some of the European parks in winter. Phantasialand during the Wintertraum event is absolutely incredible. The park is open until late, the whole area is immersed in holiday themeing and Klugheim is all illuminated. Riding Taron in the dark is absolutely insane! They also have snow machines around the park, fireworks, millions of lanterns and all the traditional German festive foods.
If you do stay on site at either Matamba or Ling Bao then the ERT is definitely worth the extra money. You get a whole hour, however most people only do Taron once or twice and then either go back to the hotel or go to Raike which leaves Taron open for multiple re-rides. I think we managed 15 rides in the back row consecutively without having to leave the train. It was INSANE!

It's nice to hear and watch your review. I'm from germany and I do visit the park as often as I can (also visit a lot of other parks in europe). You are completely right, the main entrance is not worth a photo or something like that. It's more worth to go to the themed areas like Deep In Africa or Klugheim. I guess the Temple of the nighthawk is still the longest dark coaster in the world, but it is very old (over 30y old) and do not fit to the rest of the park. You definitely missed the splash boot ride (River Quest). It is so much fun, well themed and you will get very wet ;) Hope you enjoyed your stay in germany.

I love Phantasialand, it's my all time favourite park. Should you ever come back, I would say, definitely stay in one of the hotels. They're absolutely gorgeous and in my opinion worth the money. I can also recommend the African dinner buffet at the Matamba hotel. Another great place to eat is the tavern in Klugheim. They have lots of traditional German food that is definitely not your typical theme park food. Also the restaurant is beautifully themed as well, so I think it's worth the time and money. I'd say it's the parks most recommended place to eat, I'm suprised you didn't go there.

Here a tip for you: you should definitely visit Phantasialand in December as they have a Christmas special running (the whole park is just lit up in Christmas decorations, shows, you have ice skating, punsch, Christmas food specialities and wayyy less people than in the summer: i was there on a Monday in December and the longest wait was about 5-10 minutes at Taron! I may leave my thoughts, ya?
I live 2 hours (car) away and try to go there every year on my birthday (birthday kiddos every age are free for the whole day. not a discount or a cheap toy present, FREE entrance).
The small park is amazing and the history behind it is kind of interesting. How it started, developed, burned down in parts and was rising from ashes. There are not only height restrictions, the park can not expand in any direction with locals also complaining about noise (you don't say living fence to fence near a theme park) ... phantasialand has hard times, they survive from quality and returning people. (I'm also an ass for being super loud at the fence where the people live behind for reasons). The theming is necessary in parts for noise reduction .. all these and more regulations don't hold them back. they build new things in places of old things instead of keeping old stuff, it is fun to have something new every 2-3 years and sad that old things are lost. except temple of the night hawk. that's pretty much the most boring coaster ever. that can go. everyone go make research and admire this place!
thanks for reading. have a nice day

I just checked on some childhood memories coming across your vid and I really have to second almost all of your given commentaries on Phantasialand. It is one of the most dense themed parks out there in the world, though I must admit that I haven't been in theme parks over in the US or AUS. But I really can't think of any other theme park which might top Phantasialand. And I have been to lots around in Europe. Because they done everything so damn well! As you stated: the limitation in space made the inventors of Phantasialand extraordinarily creative that it's mind blowing at some point. E.g. it's the only theme park I have been so far, giving me the impression I am walking through in full environmental... can't describe it with other words. I mean, the park is not only left or right of you. NO! It's everywhere! It's below you! It's above you! They even *damn* stacked some of those attractions and stapled them above each other, because they just hadn't the space to set those apart from each other! That makes the experience so intense. And because they couldn't go for record breaking rides they had to pull it off with the artworks all over the place, granted that at some structure's time's nagging obviously. But if you don't eagle-eye for that, you will hardly recognize!
Just few additions: Next time you go to the Phantasialand skipping River Quest, go kill yourself! ^_^ Nah, just kidding! But believe me, boy: that rapid river raft has the coolest drops. They had to built it virtually vertical (again: thanks to limitations)! Already the starting lift up onto 22mtrs is way cooler than most others. And then it brings you down from 22 to 0 within only 250m². It just goes *splash* all the time! Did I sound like a fan-boy? Well, I suppose I am! The truth about The Temple of the Night Hawk. It started as the world longest space themed indoor-coaster, and it was the coolest thing! The effects and laser shooting top notched. Then it was turned into something... worse. As much I love what they did with Wuze Town, I hate what they did to Space Center because of Wuze Town!

They cannot built a wooden coaster because they do not have the space for it (the expansion of Phantasialand is being blocked by local politicians for almost 40 years now) and it would also be too loud as the neighbours are always complaining. If they could, I'd guess, Phantasialand would have built an RMC, because it would have been a good addition to the coaster line-up and would also be the first in Germany. I guess and hope they will built a mind-blowing darkride next because that is definitely missing and will be indoor and so no stress with the neighbours.

Talocan does actually belong to the Mexican area and it's name originates from the Aztec god of weather: Tlaloc. From what I have heard, Talocan tells the story of a wine cellar built in a temple of Tlaloc and then Tlaloc punishing the people for taunting him. I believe that what the voice says during the ride is in fact ancient Aztec, but I am not sure about that (please comment if someone knows better).

    • @suspended_top_spin

I actually asked a Mexican friend who still lives there about the voice sample, and while she doesn't speak Nahuatl herself, she said it didn't sound like it to her (though she also admitted she could be wrong). I wouldn't be surprised at this point if it was made up to keep it mysterious. As far as I know Phantasialand has replied but never answered when people asked about the language and the words being spoken, and with Talocan running for so many years now and being quite famous (said Mexican friend had already seen videos of it, despite not even being a theme park enthusiast!), one would think it would've come out at this point if it was a real, translatable language.
